[snip]At 1100 the next morning, Marceau, having pulled an all-nighter and as settled in as one could be in a single night and morning, called the ship’s senior staff for a meeting to discuss their mission. He called them to the discussion area at the rear of the bridge. He held notes detailing what he wanted to say, basically the key notes of the mission they were to depart on in just about three and a half hours, which he read over while he waited for everyone to show up.

“Morning Cap’n,” Logan offered as he stepped into the area that Renault was lurking in. In his hand, was a large, hot mug of coffee. He had come directly from Engineering via the ships lounge, and he was a few minutes early so he could make sure he got the black gold on the way up.

It wasn’t long after that Heather stepped back onto the bridge. It was probably going to be a couple of months before she finally got the lab exactly the way she wanted, but in the meantime she would keep moving things around. Hopefully the staff wouldn’t be too angry at her in the end.
Stepping into the briefing area Heather looked over towards the Captain. He definitely looked like he could use another cup of coffee or two.
“Captain.”

Rachel arrived next, head stuck in a PaDD, reading as she walked, almost walking into the first officer as she entered the small rear area. She looked up and gave a start, as if she hadn’t realized where she was and blinked in confusion as if suddenly aware of where she was “Ahh, morning” She smiled her crooked smile and moved to a corner and returned to her reading.

OOC: Just a reminder the briefing area is at the rear of the bridge, not a separate room :) sort of like the NX class in Enterprise....

Marceau glanced around the room, waiting for everyone to arrive, and then once they had, began his briefing with a short overview of their mission. “Sojourner is headed to Wolf 359 to lay Earth’s claim to the sector, for both mining and colonial purposes. The Vulcans are telling us this system isn’t worth it. The Vulcans tell us everything isn’t worth it. We are laying our claim anyway.”“United Earth and Star Fleet is contracting a civilian mining company, Far Horizons. Probe 9 sent back promising data on the red colored M-class star in the system, with two planets in its orbit. The first is mineral rich but not a livable atmosphere. The second planet is Class-M. It has a slightly higher oxygen content then Earth but nothing too troubling. Gravity is about a percent or so lighter then Earth as well. Sixty percent of the planet is land and the rest fresh or salt water lakes or oceans. There are mixed environmental fauna, a lot like Earth’s northern hemisphere with forests and such, from scans it seems most preferred mining sites are in the three major mountain ranges on the main continent. Animal life is mostly mixed, nothing too dangerous from what was picked up on visual scans, but indications aren’t clear on that so we should be prepared.” Marceau glanced at his notes as he spoke.
He took a minute and then continued, turning to Commander Grace. “On the first planet I need science to run scans of the planet and mineral deposits, determine type, richness, depth, any other standard readings like those. We’ll also need samples. On the second planet, obtains samples from the possible mining locations and run scans and evaluations. We need a planetary study team to examine the flora and fauna and weather, and other environmental concerns and standard tests.”
Next he looked at Lieutenant Kelleher, “Planet one needs biodomes set up for shelters. Help Commander Grace and her department in taking samples. Again we needs shelters put in place, we will be leaving them behind for the next group, so work with science to make sure the area is stable and the domes durable.”
“As for security,” said Marceau, glancing at Lieutenant Black, “So far we know of no one claiming the system but be on the look out for hostiles or other species. There should also be security on the planet, accidents happen so have your search and rescue teams ready.”
Finally, he addressed Lieutenant Grey, “Have medical join science in studying the flora and fauna, looking out for anything on the planet that might be dangerous. Study the water, atmosphere, anything else scienceah ask for help with. Be ready to treat any possible medical emergencies also.”
He looked around the room as he finished, doing his best to hide his New Captain’s Nervousness, and added, “If there are any questions, now is the time to ask.”

Lt. Black was on the bridge before everyone got there. He was putting the Final touches in fine tuning the targeting sensors. When he was happy with his work he made his way to the back of the bridge “good morning to you all” he said as he. Took a big gulp of his coffee “darn it went cold”
