The immediate scans peaked El’s interest. Her earlier years before the academy and schooling had been rife with natural remedies. Her teachers were far from modern, supplementing barely with technology if they needed to but preferring ‘home’ remedies and wisdom of the ancients where they were able to. El remembered her early, fumbling attempts at tending gardens of herbs, often at first mistaking the real herbs for weeds, and then the hours of patiently grinding this root or that bark down to be blended into this poultice or that syrupy rub or drink. It strained her small girl impatience to the breaking point; only her pride in not wanting to fail won over her desire to toss pestle and mortar into the nearest wall. As she ruminated now as her eyes scanned the results, it was two character flaws that she battled to see which would win. An unruly truce won out on the side of patience and mortar and pestle remained intact, but she didn’t like it. She had grown, but inside she still wrestled with conflicting emotions. Like now. Excitement about this possible medicinal find alongside it being utterly irrelevant to her engineer and personal place now. Then the readings changed

Finally another beep came up, the result was a bit deeper into the cave and lower under the surface, but there was the possibility of some kind of dilthium deposits.

She shifted her scanner as though directing it in the direction of the possible deposit would give her a better reading. Again she was conflicted. Dilithium. That is something that would ensure the region being mined. The prospect had so many possibilities, yet it saddened El thinking of the cats. She let out an impatient huff at her own mixed feelings. She needed her meditation time again to sort a lot of this out. She was far from a Luddite; her joy soared when she heard the Cochranes pulsing and recalled old videos of Zeffie and his first voyages, but she cared for the world - even this one so far away from Earth. The moss was a curiosity. El shifted her light to it and then off of it and noted the phosphoresce of it. That would help them if they needed a bit more. Idly she wondered how long that might last, and if it could be used as a kind of emergency lighting in a kind of ‘bio-ship’.

Isaac looked at El “ok we got our scans can we go now. An animal like the cats will not stay gone for long” he said with a serious tone. The fact why he doesn’t want to stay down there was because of the cave spiders.

Lt. Isaac Black (AC)

She flipped back to the proximity alert with the cats to see where they were. “I think we’re still good, sir,” El said. “I have a trace reading on dilithium below us. We should go farther to get a better reading to take back. It wouldn’t be long.” She’d mention the other medicinal things later to the commander and Vulcan. She didn’t think that any of the MACO’s or Lt Black would have any interest of them.

Baumann looked at the readings and nodded in appreciation. “If you are wanting samples, I can assist.” He looked at the Staff Sergeant and nodded once and the diminutive man simply nodded back and watched and listened.

Baumann, MACO CO

El was surprised to hear this from a MACO. It was an inner rebuke that she shouldn’t judge as quickly. At the same time she was ill equipped. “I have no sample bottles,” she admitted. She was an engineer sent out on a survey mission for geological hits. Any thought to taking these things was likely in the minds of the science people, but not El. She did however, tap at her scanner. “I have marked this geo-positionally so we can find our way back to it, or the science people can.” Perhaps her too. It would be fun to see them closer and perhaps what they could do but that may be more of a back on the ship study. And it would be admitting that she had a past that was not as well known in her biography and perhaps best kept there.

[O] Grace to Serinde and Black. I’ve finished up what I need to do here at basecamp, so I’m heading your way now. Can you sent me your current location so I can meet up with you when I arrive? [C]

OOC: Decided to go ahead and fix the splits and thread mixing.
IC:
Isaac saw what she was looking at “ grab some images of that and I want us to start heading for the service now I don’t want to run into that big cat” he said looking around “can you scan for life signs in here I have a bad feeling”

Lt. Isaac Black (AC)
Isaac looked around “I think I saw a shadow behind us in the tunnel. what do you see and I want a life sign scan” he said his bad feeling was getting worse. His hand lowering to his pistol also.

Lt. Isaac Black (AC)

When life scans were done they would find that beyond remains of the small rodent burrowing animals in and near here no larger animals or life like the cats or tunnel dwelling people were currently present within a quarter or so mile radius. The shadows Isaac was seeing were just that shadows cast by their lights with the rock’s breaking things up making him jump at threats which weren’t there.

GM CockRoach

Isaac felt silly jumping at shadows like that “El do we have enough scans. I will like to get above ground” he said little tense. This place just felt wrong to him.

OOC: Just waiting on El’s reply to move this ahead one way or another....

“There you guys are,” Heather said finally finding her way to the other half of the team. She pulled off her pack, took out a water bottle and took a large swig. After a minute she slung her pack back on her back, but kept the water bottle in her hand. “So what have you found so far?”
