Rick looked over to Nessa. “I think so,” he replied and looked at the small dog. “Come Nessa. Back to sick bay.” Their travel would take them back up to B deck. They were getting their ship trotting time in this shift. Somewhere in there he would have to report into the senior about their findings. Their exit out of the bay was easy enough. “I wonder, if in years to come how big they might make ships. 7 decks. That’s huge now. What do you think Lt?”

“Well in theory it’s only a matter of power needed. I’ve been hearing some rumblings about the Warp 5 engine, I can’t wait to see what they do with that first ship.”

Coming out onto B deck and down the corridor to the sickbay NE Franks looked up from where he was busy stocking some shelving. “..Oh hello sirs! Um…” glancing at Ness a second then to the pair, “..Something I can help you two with?” he asked. Nessa meanwhile took a spot to the right of the door sitting on her haunches out of the way just under the nearby work desk. Though some of her probably less then through training to not go wandering was evident in she was tempted it seems to go sniff and explore all the obvious smells, for the moment though she remained disciplined.

“Nessa here spotted some sort of animal remains in the air ducts down by the cargo bay. I managed to fish them out, but I was hoping we could use the imager here in sickbay to get a better idea of what it was, and why it died. The ship was new enough that we shouldn’t have much of a pest problem yet.” Eric held up the sample bag he had brought with him.

NE Franks nodded a bit, then took the sample bag. Slipping the remains onto a sample tray he went over to the imager to slid it into the sample slot. “..Yes that shouldn’t be a problem, long as the sample has enough genetic markers, and is something in our medical databases.” He said as he pressed a few buttons then a switch with the imager humming to life with a soft white hue. “..This will just take a moment to process..” he said.

True to his word nearly one minute and ten seconds later the scan completed. “..Ah there, now lets see. Hmm..” He said dialing in some results and a compiled image of a common ‘brown rat’ came up. “..Seems like we got the lower rib cage and left back quarter of a common Rattus norvegicus, also known as the brown rat.” He said. “..Cause of death looks like dismemberment and shredding by something with some force to not only bite a chunk out of the small bit of rib cage left here..” he said indicating a small part of the ribes. “..But also then based on the force of muscle tissue remaining and strains on the bone fragments was torn in half. Hmm…teeth marks don’t really exactly match anything out right in her databases for Earth but there’s so little to study its impossible to say for sure. The force needed to rip it in half like this though based on claw marks on the back quarter indicates to me something with maybe three or four claws and a muscle tone to match such shredding and tearing.” he said glancing at Nessa, “..Definitely not something the dog could do thats for sure, unless she can transform into some dog monster thing?” he said glancing at the two with slight jest in his eyes. “..Either way whatever did this would have to be quite strong given the level of ripping and such.” he declared.
