The Foremost Fleet Report - April 2021

USS Ark Angel

Commanding Officer: Robert Archer

How is your ship looking overall? Overall the Ark Angel is looking very well, we had a few folks leave due to going to other ships, as well as some LOA/AWOLing issues but overall those are being handled well.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? None really stick out in my mind currently.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.Currently I am helping a new player to the ship improve their posting quality, I’m hoping to see improvement overtime.

Executive Officer: Nathan Miller

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?DHs are doing well, posting regularly. Chief Science Officer is heavily involved in the main sim, testing unique materials and experimenting on… semi-intelligent bubbles of reality? The Chief of Security currently has the bridge and he and the Chief Ops Officer are trying to find out more information about where the Angel finds herself currently. Medical and Engineering are part of a diplomatic retinue to meet the religious leader of this area of the far off galaxy the ship is in. Our Counselor is currently dealing with the aftermath of a small attempted mutiny.

On the side-sim side of things, our Counselor is running a cooking class on the holodeck! This is being attended by DHs and JOs alike. She’s also busy with various other counseling session side sims for other characters.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? Our Engineering JOs are involved in the main sim with the CSO as above, and that has been a fantastic thread to read. Our illustrious GM has kept Medical JOs involved, and our newest member, security JO Serenity Winters, is quite active, taking part in her check ins, the main sim, and the cooking side sim above.

Who is the shining star this month? Cassa D, our Counselor. She’s been quite active with check in threads, multiple side-sims, and active in her own portion of the main sim. Hats off to her!

Gamemaster: Robert Archer

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The Ark Angel has been transported to the impossibly distant GNz-11 galaxy by the Q Continuum to test the crews reactions to extremes while they debate about the crew and ship. Currently the crew are meeting with The High Elder One a spiritual leader of sorts of a race made up of gelatinous mass. Meanwhile the science and engineering departments are studying the mysterious ‘reality bubbles’ roaming this region.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? It was a big team effort on both sides of the sim to move things forward collectively.

FComm’s Comments: AA is doing well. Lots of participation. AWOL and LOAs are getting better and more under control and the ship is doing well.

Cassa D is nominee for Golden Gleeman for April

USS Asimov

Commanding Officer: Sam Pennington

How is your ship looking overall? The Asimov is improving. We are recruiting, and new characters will be joining shortly. Our new XO has been wonderfully active and helped boost the energy. Going forward, we’re trying to get more side sims rolling and keep everyone building character.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? I think, if I had to pick one post, I’d choose https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf1/asimov/posts/134267/ , even in a short post I got to know a character a little bit by the detail in how he’s written. That’s always wonderful to see.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.I’d love to see people taking more of the initiative on their own to start side sims and generate their own storylines alongside the main sim. And filling out the roster would be most welcome.

Executive Officer: Silke Fahl

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?I’d like to start my report with saying a few things in general. I only joined the Asimov on April 19 and while I have been skimming through posts, taking notes and counting posts from January till now, that doesn’t give me a hundred percent accurate picture of the ship in April compared to previous months.

Every DH seems to be involved in the main sim and is posting within limits. When I joined there were no side sims at all. Something I hope will change and I already have a plan for a side sim for the whole senior staff in place. I’m just waiting for the main sim to get a bit closer to the end before I start it. And my plan is to generally get a couple more side sims going to get to know the crew and hopefully get a bit of engagement outside the main sim.

With not all DH positions filled, we are currently looking for a Counsellor and Chief Medical Officer.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? Our one Junior Officer seems to be doing well and is engaged in the main sim. Hopefully we’ll be able to find a few more people to join our JO ranks.

Who is the shining star this month? I’m going to leave this blank this months. My apologies.

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: Asimov is doing all right overall. Couple vacancies currently listed and being addressed (CNS and CMO are most notable at the moment). Side Sim encouragement coming in May.

No nominations this month.

SS Bonaventure

Commanding Officer: Melissa Aragon

How is your ship looking overall? We are doing pretty well. We have the roster full once more, though it happened (technically) in May. Couple AWOLs but not bad and minimal occurrences. The grew is doing great in the Sim.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? It’s been hard with shifting personnel to pick an individual moment. The Sim is progressing well and the excitement is just starting. Hoping May will bring us more great posts.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.Progress the Sim a bit faster and perhaps fill in a couple JO slots to finish rounding out the ship.

Executive Officer: Steve Johnson

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?Overall the DHs have been struggling this past month. We have several resignations with holes to fill, both the Chief Engineer and Chief Science Officer, and both of those have since been filled. However the other DHs are currently AWOL, and I will be following up with them shortly.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? From the JOs we have had good participation in the simm. Currently we only have the main simm going, as everyone is planet side, not leaving much room open for any side simms at this time.

Who is the shining star this month? I have to call out Robert Archer, our GM. He has done a great job of keeping us going, and pushing us forward within the simm. It is an interesting simm, and the one downside of it being a slow ship is that sometimes it can feel like you are having to drag it along. Bu the has done a great job working with us!

Gamemaster: Robert Archer

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The Bonaventure is trapped within a 5 light year radius of a unclaimed system due to gravity anomalies emitting from a planet which appeared seemingly out of nowhere. Looking for answers two landing parties went to the surface, one to study for clues among the civilian populace, another to study a seemingly abandoned military/scientific base which was giving off odd unknown energy readings.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? The CO and XO really stepped up to keep everyone on track this past month, thank you!

FComm’s Comments: Bonnie is struggling with manning, currently. Several DH turnovers in the month and a bit of AWOL and LOA issues. Using May to get things back on track. No side sims while Sim is going on, but not surprised since no one is actually on the ship.

Robert Archer nominated for Dungeon Master for April.

USS Leviathan

Commanding Officer: Sharon Miller

How is your ship looking overall? Admiral’s Personal Log - April

A wiser man than myself once said “the first duty of every Starfleet officer is to the truth”. But when the truth runs contrary to duty, when the tenets of ones own morality lie in contravention of the Federation’s aims, which way, then, should a good officer turn?
I had long ago learned to check my moral conscience at the door when reporting in with the ARU. My belief in our fundamental mission remains steadfast and my fellow officers amongst the bravest and most talented I have ever met. And yet almost daily do I find myself questioning our methodologies, or finding cause to waver when faced with the reality of our ethics.

But never has a task so tormented me as the one right now being lain at my feet. Two days ago, my former mentor, and dearest friend, docked his ship at the starbase to an almost reverent welcome - for already had our bars and our merchant wings been filled with chatter on the adventures of the USS Leviathan. And now many took pause to watch with baited breath as anomaly unloading began, for a chance to glimpse those creatures that had, until now, existed only in myth - the deadly relic known as ‘Andromeda’s Tomb’, the lethal nitrogen-based cloud designated ‘Ullr’, the game-loving, cannibalistic plant named ‘Carroll’, and of course the legendary beast that is ‘Dave’.

What manner of creatures will be onboarded to take their place I can barely even imagine, although the research proposals submitted by the crew have made, I am told, for fascinating reading. But into this reverie am I forced to drag my dutiful burden - a briefing on the Leviathan’s next mission and a forced incursion into an area of space from which, I fear, there is no hope of safe return.

Admiral Roebuck

-

April was a mixed bag for the Leviathan. The highlight of the month was undoubtedly the STF awards, where the Levi and her crew won an impressive total of 19 different awards, including Best Alt-RP (shared with OED V) and Best Ship. But alongside this both Jake and myself have been accosted by the anomaly that is real life and our collective posting time has been far less than I think either of us would have liked.

But thanks to this amazing crew, we still managed a fantastic 540 posts, which represents a slight increase on our total for March. And while our main anomaly encounter, The Augustine Chronicles, wound down at the end of the month, we were served two more fantastic encounters, from Christina Crafford who sent the RTF team chasing shadows around the ship in “Cerenity’s Shadow” and Leonora V, who is leading a small team through the planning stages of a raid to rescue an anomaly from an auction house in “Deep in the Underworld”. Added to this, the Leviathan did finally make it back to the starbase, where we can now offload our current anomalies and take onboard a whole range of new ones.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? I’ve been having a fantastic time this month watching our new engineering chief Durheim (William Deaton) and security officer Luna (Christina Crafford) show newcomer Gil (Tom Shore) around the containment deck - including an appearance of the one and only legend that is Pants Spider!
https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf1/leviathan/posts/130248/

Additionally, I would like to shine my monthly spotlight on the following two players:

Christina Crafford has been a major driving force on the ship this month, engaging several players in personal threads as well as delivering a short anomaly encounter in the form of “Cerenity’s Shadow”. Her enthusiasm and inventiveness has been fantastic, as always, and I’ve enjoyed seeing her bring a lighter side to her character, Luna, while still summoning the darkness for everyone else!

Leonora V has also been key in keeping the crew occupied, with the opening stages of her own anomaly encounter. ‘Deep in the Underworld’ promises anomalies, intrigue and action aplenty and is yet another example of the creativity and resourcefulness that she brings to every single post!

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.I have some big plans for the Levi going forward and am in the preliminary stages of my own anomaly encounter, “Year of Hell”. Suffice it to say, things are about to take a turn for the disastrous on the Leviathan and for the crew, both working, and living, conditions will become significantly more challenging. But before we plunge the ship into this terrifying abyss, I plan to have one final round of recruiting in case any more players wish to join us for this new and terrifying chapter on STF’s only anomaly-chasing ship!

Current Vacancies:
As mentioned above, we are open for anyone else interested in joining this new and darker chapter for the Leviathan. We have room for JO’s in engineering or medical and could definitely use some more RTF Agents as we head into battle.
Please contact myself (Commodore Raven) or Jake (Capt Narwhal) if you would like to know more.

Executive Officer: J Ridgley

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?A little bit of a quieter month but in terms of how everything is going with our DHs they are starting to think about thier own missions to run over the period were docked and on a semi IC LOA period.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?As ever our JO’S are participating in everything thrown at them with some going as far as creating thier own side missions.

Who is the shining star this month? Chief Warrant Officer Kodek Vonn (RTF Commander) Still relatively knew to the crew IC I love reading whenever this character is brought up and even mentioned his interactions with the crew are just pure original genuis.

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: Levi is amazing. Putting out more posts than most ships it’s great to read what’s happening there. AWOLs and LOAs are being addressed. Sims are doing well both self driven involving ship personnel as well as individual side sims.

CWO Kodek Vonn written by James Sinclair nominated for Starship Trooper in April

USS Manhattan

Commanding Officer: James Sinclair

How is your ship looking overall? The ship looks great right now, and I am very proud of the crew as a whole.

We lost our CoS to RL conflicts, but have recruited a new player to take on those responsibilities.

The crew and GM are engaged, and there are a number of side-sims running. The Sim looks to be coming to a solid conclusion, adn the GM and I are discussing what comes next.
We have what appears to be a lot of AWOLs, but most of these are people returning from LOA. If the board hasn’t been cleared up by the end of the week, it will be addressed.
of posts: April - 386 posts, up one hundred over previous month, but not near our record.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? The exchange happening between the CSO and one of her friends is absolutely spectacular with regards to character development. The thread has gone on longer than just the reporting period, but remains a great conversation and growth of two characters central to the ship’s spirit.

https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf1/manhattan/posts/129633/

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.I would like to see more consistent posting from the DH and Swing officers, although their quality now is solid. I just want more of it!

Executive Officer: Steven Sigle

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?Ship is kicking, and the DH staff are doing their things. Right now we are all focused on the main sim as we move it along and side sims can be found galore for everyone.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? The same can honestly be said for the JO’s. Really proud of the staff and I love seeing everything they are doing.

Who is the shining star this month? Silke Fahl has been having some great side sims with Lindsay Bayes, which has been treat to read. They are my stars for the month.

Gamemaster: Gene Gibbs

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The Manhattan is around a world called Graven XII where the inhabitants and Starfleet are seeking greater diplomatic relations together. When they arrived there were several small ‘things’ that the different departments engaged in to seek to help out this people who had once had space flight but gave it up some 10,000 years before and who had sought to live an existence roughly like ours today, but with a lot of time to ‘refine’ the technology to being more efficient. By the end of the day the departments started to realize that the different ‘problems’ save one were to some degree connected. Security had investigated unprecedented murders and the revelation of ‘blanks’ - persons who had but one soul. Medical had learned of a possible serial killer with murders happening at the full moons - of which Graven XII had three of, and that they were ‘two spirited beings’. Science had found a piece of a ship amongst an area of failed crops where radiation of a sort similar to a Romulan’s singularity drive was detected. Engineering was going to check on a geo-thermal plant failure where there was unexpected corrosion in the pipes when a vehicle accident injured those along and seriously injured the Gravenian chief engineer.

From there the action moved up to the Manhattan while Baht, a doctor, remained on the surface briefly before being ‘spooked’ by the presence of spirits. At sundown the Gravenians sleep until sunrise, and, apparently, that is when their ‘other spirit’ is free to roam. Seen by Rollo, the Counselor, she and others followed these spirits until she had an encounter with one where they touched, and where Rollo experienced a vision. Tov, the Gravenian engineer was treated aboard the Manhattan in a dramatic surgery as, they unfamiliar with Gravenian physiology, had to complete the surgery without Gravenian help as Hone, the doctor, fell asleep as that ‘time’ had come for them at sundown.

Morning arrived where those on board are waking and the day begins. Both Baht and Rollo have had experienced apocalyptic images from their spiritual encounters, the mystery of the piece of the ship is still waiting to be resolved, a murder was predicted at the full moon that night though this has not been reported as yet. Over breakfast the Captain and crew discussed with Second Minister Maree about what happened. Unfortunately she was unable to shed much light on things; ancient history and old prophecies for them is over 10,000 years old and mostly forgotten. However, a Gravenian child had appeared on the bridge as the ship was again being drawn toward the planet requiring course changes. She, Dia, would only speak with the ‘seer’ implying the counselor. Dia, as it turned out was the daughter of Maree who had died in childhood. Dia, in an interchange, was suggesting that none of this happening was not expected but, unfortunately, forgotten. The one on board, Engineer Tov, a Gravenian who was injured in the vehicle accident and still in sickbay, who might shed more light on this has been dramatically revived but not before the ship was begun again to be drawn to the planet. At the same time the Gravenians aboard were affected by something that seemed to try to draw their essence out of them, emerging briefly as a spectre of their own selves before returning, leaving them exhausted, but Tov, awakened and aware.

The science away team has beamed down to the crop land to do more study of the area and why the crops are dead there. It was also the epicenter of the pull that was on the Manhattan drawing it to the planet. Pattern enhancers showed what was evidently a crashed ship in pieces buried under the ground. The energy that was emanating was showing a similarity to that of previous encounters with the Metrons. The team had scanned the region and found a cave complex leading in the direction of the ship. A team has delved down into the cave and found a constructed passage leading in the direction of the downed ship and an open chamber.

As soon as the away team discovered an open cavern that contained only a round well in the center. Overhead, hanging through a ruined ceiling was the ruin of a crashed vessel. As they entered they became surrounded by ghostly spectres who identified the away team as the Monks of S’aai Mar, who, according to lost legend were the ones who decided once every 12,000 years whether their people would take a step ahead in evolution or remain as they were. The last Time of Decision there were no Monks present and disaster occurred, resulting in the crash of a vessel and chaos erupting of some Gravenians being without a ‘spirit’ half. This time, the Away Team was present and each was given a task – one spoke for evolving, one against, one being a moderator and the other the one to decide.

Meanwhile back on the ship, at that moment they were caught in a temporal funnel drawing them toward the planet – specifically to the same place as the Away Team with minutes to decide. The Captain connected through the comms the two Gravenians aboard – Second Minister Maree and her nephew, Tov – to argue the points along with the Away Team and make the choice. Ultimately, with seconds to spare, the choice was made – to evolve. And with that the ship was freed and able to pull up in time, skimming the atmosphere to escape destruction.

As for the Gravenians, their first sign that things were ‘different’ was that at sunset they did not fall asleep and for perhaps the first time they saw the stars.

THE END

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? James, our good CO, could see the ribbon at the end of the race and ran us all to the tape at the end. Our good sim is done and another one is being cooked up to start .. soon.

FComm’s Comments: Sim was great (to read and participate in). Current LOAs and AWOLs are being addressed as folks come off LOAs. Lots of side sims are up and running and posts up from last month. DH positions are full, JO position vacancies are listed on MOTD. Working to round out the roster is a May goal as well as picking up the posting frequency.

Lindsay Bayes and Silke Fahls are nominated for Golden Gleeman for April

USS Memorial

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: Jennifer Ward

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?Posting has slowed down this month. We have had a change over in our CSO and I hope that will see more activity from that department with a more active DH. Over all I am very happy with how the DHs assign orders for their JOs and continue to participate in the sim themselves. We also have a new CNS who will be seeing the staff to care for their mental health.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?JOs are doing alright. They are engaged in the main sim. We still have vacancies. Our beach side sim seems to have fizzled out, but we only have 1 JO AWOL.

Who is the shining star this month? Matt Bongiorno who is playing Lt jg Katron s’Tei, a Romulan counselor. He has hit the ground running and I am looking forward to see how he approaches the position.

Gamemaster: Lindsay Bayes

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: After investigating an object that somehow triggered the wormhole connecting the Alpha and Delta Quadrants (at the request of Starbase Event Horizon), the crew have been trying to discover where it came from (it’s over 800 years old) and what was inside. Once they were able to get inside they discovered an inner sphere. Once they got inside that they found a orange substance that registered as being morphogenic. The CE ever so wisely decided to touch it and it instantly shot upwards as steam, disappearing into the ventilation system. The ship is at red alert and everyone is on the hunt for what they assume is a Changeling. Some believe it to be dangerous. Others aren’t so sure.

Meanwhile, a small boy named Habray has appeared in Sickbay 2 and the CMO is trying to find out who he is and where he came from.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? Jennifer Ward has been doing an excellent job both IC and OOC. She’s been helping to nudge people in the right direction and making sure things don’t drop off. her help has been greatly appreciated.

FComm’s Comments: Sim going well. Participation good across the board. Couple of AWOLs and LOAs are being handled. Looking forward to more participation and more side simming.

Matt Bongiorno playing Lt JG Katron s’Tei, the new Counselor, nominated for Starship Trooper

All CO, XO, GMs are active and keeping up on responsibilities both ooc and ic.

No unexcused Fleet Reports. Missing ones are LOA writers

Posting is up on most of the ships. Side sims being encouraged where possible and AWOL and LOA issues are being handled efficiently by the COs and XOs. DH and JO vacancies will be focus for May to get all the ships back to optimal operating levels.
