The Foremost Fleet Report - July 2021

USS Ark Angel

Commanding Officer: Robert Archer

How is your ship looking overall? We’re a bit up and down at the moment. We’re dealing with a on and off awol problem and also filling open positions and getting those who newly joined involved into the main sim.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? None stand out sadly due to the above issues

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.Fill these open spots and hopefully wrap up the sim

Executive Officer: Nathan Miller

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? Our CE is one of the drivers in the main sim as engineering tries to plot a way home for our ship. We are looking for a new CMO, and have a new COS, CSO, and CNS currently trying to find their feet.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? Our engineering and science JOs, Jason and Abigail, are wonderful to see in action, and are really the driving force in the sim currently.

Who is the shining star this month? Abigail as Ensign V’alura Belmont has been a wonderful addition to our crew and has been a great read every time they post.

Gamemaster: Robert Archer

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The USS Ark Angel has been swept into the GN-z11 galaxy the furthest known galactic object in known science by the Q entity. They were sent here to settle a debate among the Q about how the ship and crew of the Ark Angel would handle various extremes. To this end the crew have decided not to play ball with Q’s antics and decided to find their own way home. Science and Engineering as a result are working on modifying the ship’s warp core for slipstream travel, a process which in itself is very dangerous.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? With the problems listed in the CO report those who did post with me as gm were the biggest factor.

FComm’s Comments: The sim is going well and the newly arrived members are settling in. We will focus on the ship as a whole and an improved identity to move forward in a more definitive direction from here on out without seeming so open in mission orientations.

Award Nominee - Abigail as Ensign V’alura Belmont

USS Asimov

Commanding Officer: Sam Pennington

How is your ship looking overall? We’re doing well. We’ve gotten the new sim rolling and it’s really getting interesting. We have had a couple AWOLs and LOAs this month but nothing that keeps the ship from running well.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? I enjoyed seeing strong characterization that has grown into its own thread here: https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf1/asimov/posts/146541/

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.I would like to ensure that everyone is posting more than just to avoid becoming AWOL over the next month and into the future.

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: James Sinclair

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The Asimov is going undercover to help Federation Security and Star Fleet Intelligence insert a covert agent into a hostile criminal organization. TO do so, the ship and her crew will be ‘lost’ with all hands.... and then they become criminals themselves.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? Lindsay Bayes as CIO Shara Calloway has become critical to the sim and the story line.

FComm’s Comments: Looking forward to seeing how the Sim plays out and how the characters take to the idea of being fugitives.
Will be focusing on more active posting and not just ‘to avoid awol’ quickies.

No award nominees

SS Bonaventure

Commanding Officer: Melissa Aragon

How is your ship looking overall? We are doing all right, though nothing to boast about. The sim is finally making its way into the next chapter as the CO and XO come together to try and piece together the knowledge of the two Away Teams and decide the next move.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? I can’t think of a specific post, but I am glad we are moving forward at a decent pace.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month. My attendance and involvement for one thing. Between moving cross country and 70 hr weeks beginning the first week I started, it’s been hectic. Looking to be back on a schedule here asap and devote more time to moving the ship ‘upwards and onwards’ vs merely remaining at impulse.

I also want to see about making sure the roster is rounded out.

And finally, help the crew, like everyone in the STF community, deal with the passing of Steve. It affected all of us who knew him, and probably others who merely knew ‘of’ him. He will be missed and we are relaxing posting for Aug while everyone deals with and mourns our great loss.

Executive Officer: Steve Johnson

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? The DH’s are doing okay this past month. There has been a need for some extra reminders to post, and the simm has slowed to a crawl at this point. I’m hoping that it will speed back up soon, and that will get people posting again.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?We only have 3 JO’s at this time, however they are doing a decent job of keeping on top of what is going on.

Who is the shining star this month? Overall it’s been a super slow month, and no one stands out in my mind. Hopefully next month the simm will pick back up and the crew will have more to interact with.

Gamemaster: Robert Archer

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The civilian investigation team has finally returned to the Bonnie to get help for the injured from among the alien populace they rescued, this is already causing quite a scene on the ship.

Meanwhile the remaining abandoned base team is deciding where to continue their investigation planet side on the abandoned base

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? Steve Johnson and Melissa Aragon

FComm’s Comments: The sim, while slow going at this moment, is still moving forward. Will be working to get AWOL and posting limits back up to speed and move things forward at a faster pace (so this sim doesn’t last two rt years like the last lol)

Working with XO and GM to see about a more definitive identity for the ship that may help posting and sim lines as well.

No nominations.

USS Leviathan

Commanding Officer: Sharon Miller

How is your ship looking overall? - Captain’s Log - July

The Alini System lies within arms reach. And within it, the last known location of the USS Essex and the USS Rokovoko. For reasons considered above our paygrade to hear, the Leviathan has been deemed impervious to this particular dimensional threat and ordered to investigate the scene. Is it possible that we are indeed immune to the perils that assailed our brethren ARU ships? Or does ARU central command have a desire to see us vanish in their wake?

Such paranoid supposition is sadly not without foundation, as our continuing investigations on the origin of the ‘Cobb anomaly’ have revealed an uncomfortable thread - the possibility that the entity was unleashed onto the Leviathan by deliberate, and authorised, hands. And although it pierces my soul to admit, hands that I once clasped within mine as a friend.

We find ourselves now in the direst of circumstances, our plight sufficient to drive several key crewmembers away to safer shores. But where some choose to flee from danger, others seem drawn to it like moths to the proverbial flame and already I prepare myself to greet a welcome influx of new recruits - an intriguing Efrosian named Hir Ra-Mhadreii to serve as my new CSO and a curious anomaly hunter known as Doctor Von Hellsing for engineer. Plus a pair of Laleri humanoids who materialised without warning in our lounge, bringing impossible rumours of a Romulan temporal incursion and the destruction of Vulcan itself!

I find myself wondering if we will even make it to the edge of the anomaly, before our paymasters decide to finish us with their own hands!

Captain Zachariah Cobb

-*-

July brought a measure of upheaval to the Leviathan as we lost both our CSO and our CNS. But positions on the Leviathan don’t stay empty for long and we have secured a fantastic player to step into the CSO role, in talented current crewmember, Trinity Fister. I hope to bring an equally impressive replacement for the CNS role and am just working out finer details with my player of choice. Additionally, our ranks were bolstered further this month by the addition of James Gray as mysterious anomaly hunter Doctor Von Hellsing, and a trio of returning members in Jay Luistro, Nicole Cline and Elin Harker. Our post count for July came in as a lower than usual 250 posts, but as the month closed out a new surge of enthusiasm has swept across the board and I expect for August to be a vast improvement on July.

In terms of anomaly encounters, we are still edging towards the central storyline for ‘Year of Hell’, although I’ve been holding back from the next chapter while our new arrivals settle in and find their feet. Although speaking of new arrivals, Miriam W’s fascinating Laleri CTO has provided much excitement for the crew this month, with one of the most unique arrival threads I’ve possibly even seen!

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? A wonderfully unique arrival onto the ship for a wonderfully unique pair of characters - Miriam W’s custom Laleri couple, Mwezi and Kula, materialised on the floor of the Jörmungandr Lounge in the midst of an anomaly attack and very nearly got mistaken for anomalies themselves! And so far in this thread they have been confounding the gathered officers (J Ridgley, Calé Reilly and Nicole Cline) with tales of temporal incursions by vengeful Romulans and even the destruction of Vulcan itself!: https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf1/leviathan/posts/146352/

Spotlight: Miriam W was one of the founding members of the Leviathan with her former Borg CSO, GLaDOS. And after taking a short break, during which time she deservedly landed her own CO spot, I was delighted to welcome her back onboard! Her custom Laleri species, represented here by CTO Mwezi and his research scientist spouse, Kula, is as original as it is creative and I’ve loved getting my first peek at these characters. She has jumped straight in to providing activity for a large portion of the crew and I’m truly excited to see where she goes with it all next!

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.August 18th will mark the anniversary of the Leviathan’s charter and her transfer into the main fleets and I am looking forward to concluding our fourth and final review.

On the ship itself, Jake has plans to keep our DH’s on their toes with his next round of departmental reviews (which are always hilarious to read) and once our new crewmembers have settled in I plan to finally throw the Leviathan into the depths of the Alini system anomaly. What awaits them on the other side remains yet to be seen, but I have a feeling that August will be a thrilling and action-packed month for STF’s only anomaly-chasing ship!

Vacancies: We can take one more JO each for security, science and engineering if anyone is interested in joining us on our latest adventure. Please reach out to myself or Jake if interested.

Executive Officer: J Ridgley

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? Most of our DHs have stepped up this month by taking part in the main sim and setting up side sims with their departments that being said I still want more from our DHs especially those who have yet to started anything. I think like some of the other ships in the club we’re in a bit of a lull thanks to summer and the post Covid lockdown restrictions.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? The JOs as usual are the stars of the reporting period and are the true gears that keep our wheels moving both in Main and side missions as well as thier own personal developments.

Who is the shining star this month? This month is a pretty easy month, while I wish I could give this to all our star writers I think Miriam W who plays our latest additions Mwezi and Kula. A fantastic introduction which is still ongoing for any aspiring writers I highly suggest giving their posts a read.

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: Watching this ship grow into a Fleet ship has been a joy. There is never a vacancy for long, which says a lot for Captain and crew, alike.
I look forward to seeing the sim unfold, the new characters and writers settle in and the ship take off into orbit in places they are unfamiliar with.

Fleet nominee - Mirriam W for Mwezi

USS Manhattan

Commanding Officer: James Sinclair

How is your ship looking overall? Overall we are solid. We have a couple of AWOLs, but nothing major. 403 posts this past month, 382 the month before; so we are remaining steady.

It must be noted that we lost Steven Sigle, who held the Executive Officer position. To say I am gutted would be an understatement. I will ensure the role is filled, of course, and I plan on approaching individuals directly about the position in the next few days. I do not want to rush to fill the slot until the right fit is found.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? The off-duty conversation between Faye Calloway and Alex Cochrane is fantastic, if I do say so myself.

https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf1/manhattan/posts/144630/

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.I am hoping that we can begin the healing process from the loss of Steven. His absence leaves a large and unfillable hole.

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: This ship suffered the loss of the XO in Steve and the space is being delicately handled for refilling. James has it well in hand and I trust his choices in those he reaches out to. We will, of course, work together to fill the slot.
This month will be, like many ships, a month of healing and moving forward. Like other ships, posting limits have been laxed for mourning purposes and while we will continue to prod those who are AWOL, we are not insensitive to the reasons.

We will also be looking to keep posts up and moving upwards more. The ship, as a whole is doing really well and will continue to do so, I am sure.

No nominations.

USS Memorial

Commanding Officer: Kirt Gartner

How is your ship looking overall? The ship has returned to Starbase 243 For crew rotation and a temporary reassignment as Station Guard for a little while this will also give the ship a chance to switch out equipment and re-gear for future missions

Out of character-wise, We are rebuilding after losing our GM Chief Engineer and Security Chief

We are trying to find people to fill out the roster and find a new path forward for the ship

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? I dont really have any options for this right now

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.we need to fix this ship up improve the AWOLs and complete a full sim

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: First and foremost this month is to fill DH and JO vacancies and the GM as well. It’s been a rough month but the Memorial is a sturdy ship. She will come out on top again, I am sure.

Will be working with CO to discuss with the crew the lack of posting desire and see what we can do to improve it before a new GM steps up. Hoping to get things back on track well before the end of the month.

No nominations.

The loss of Steve Sigle seems to be a heavy weight we are all suffering from this month. Many people have moved to LOA or AWOL status as mourning takes place on nearly every ship at every level of Command. Most ships have relaxed posting limits in this time and others are simply ignoring the lack of posts for the same reasons.

I will be working with all the COs, XOs and GMs to be sure the health of the ships are maintained both on paper and in people. I will be encouraging Captains to reach out to their crews to be sure no one is in need of extra shoulders to cry on or ears to rant in.

On the Fleet side, we will be working as a whole to improve ship health across the Fleet and fill in severely needed vacancies in GM and DH spots. JO spots will be recruited for as well. While the nominees are a short list this month, I am going to abstain from listing any due to the fact many have not been up to par the last few weeks. We will return to awards in Aug.

We have some XO and GM vacancies that are being filled, and several DH spots. All Captains are aware and are in line to having them fixed.
There are two missing reports and the appropriate people have been asked to submit them asap for ‘addendum’ posting. This time, however, we were far better prepared and nearly everyone was on time.

I think a shout out needs to go to Levi for finally reaching the home stretch of their acceptance tour. I look forward to them becoming full fledged members of the fleet.
Also to the ships who lost Steve’s characters. Those spots need filling but in a way that is reverent and respectable. And all Captains involved are handling it well.

Overall, there was some slack off and wanting this month (July) but all Captains, XOs and GMs are aware of the short falls and plans are in place to see to their recoveries.
