The Foremost Fleet Report - August 2021

USS Ark Angel

Commanding Officer: Robert Archer

How is your ship looking overall? We need an XO that is my top priority right now.

In ship news we wrapped up our sim thanks to the amazing work of our GM CockRoach! The Ark Angel safely returned on a wish and prayer from the GNz-11 galaxy without the aide of Q.

We’ve though been dealing with some on again off again loas/awols and getting new crew situated as a result.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)?

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.I want to badly get an XO

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: Robert Archer

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The sim has wrapped up and I am in the process of plotting out our next one.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? It was a collective effort especially among the engineering and science players!

FComm’s Comments: XO issue solved just after ship report was made.
Working to get ship back up to post on posting and involvement.

USS Asimov

Commanding Officer: Sam Pennington

How is your ship looking overall? August was a tough month, I think for the entire club. We’ve seen a lot of LOAs, but we’re still doing okay. The sim is continuing to progress and the odd side sim pops up. I have high hopes for September being a better month.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? When Cantreken station was introduced, James really brought in some great imagery and got some great reactions. Here: https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf1/asimov/posts/149675/

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.I’d like to build our pool of side sims we have running. As we draw nearer Halloween and the holiday season that will, of course get easier.

Executive Officer: Silke Fahl

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?General Overview: Even though the number of posts have dropped noticeably this month compared to July, most everyone is still posting more than they need to to stay with in limits. Not to mention that - for a number of reasons - August has been a difficult month for many of the crew. So I’m not at all worried.

As for our DH’s: Generally I’d say they are doing well and most are not only involved in side sims, but in the main sim as well. Due to RL not all of them have been able to jump into the main sim yet, but I hope that will change in September. I do know that James has planned his sim so that there is something for every department to do. So keeping busy and engaged, if RL permits, shouldn’t be a problem.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?We don’t have any one in a traditional JO role, but the two civilians (the CE’s wife and the XO’s daughter) and our Federation Security Agent (aka the CIO’s husband) are all engaged in side sims and our FedSec Agent also in the main sim. So no concerns there and I’m sure once the action picks up some more now that the rest of the crew (and not only the senior staff) is learning about our new mission there will be places in the main sim for everyone to jump in.

Who is the shining star this month? We have a lot of great writers on board, so I always find it hard to pick just one. But this month I’d like to highlight Jennifer Ward, who plays our Chief of Security Lt. Cmdr. Bethany Kovra Gadi. Not only am I enjoying her writing and the depth of her character, but I also love that she keeps weaving in bit and pieces from different threads and from various IC conversations with other crew members into her posts. Seeing those small details always brings a smile to my face.

Gamemaster: James Sinclair

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The Asimov has been tasked with inserting itself into a known criminal organization. To do so, they will be flagged as mutineers and criminals, and has arrived an a secret base in order to b ‘refitted’ as such. With the help of a Federation Security Agent and a doppelganger of a captured spy, the crew will attempt to find out all they can on the ‘shadow syndicate’… and then escape with their lives.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? Kieron Hoult as Lieutenant Patrick ‘Paddy’ McMillan (CNS) has been active everywhere and engaging in all of the treads they are in.

FComm’s Comments: Ship doing well over all. Looking forward to helping them up thread and post counts in October.

SS Bonaventure

Commanding Officer: Melissa Aragon

How is your ship looking overall? We’re doing ok. Sim going well, heard we’ve almost figured it out… Woohoo

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? Again, I think everyone is doing good. I don’t think I have a favorite moment. Hoping side Sims after the main is over will give some great threads and amazing moments.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month. If we get sim done, I’d like to see personal growth amongst the characters so we don’t become just a sim ship.

Executive Officer: Steve Johnson

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? With the crew returning to the Bonnie from the surface, it has allowed for more posting to take place across additional threads. While we still don’t have a lot of side simms, it has increased the number of in mission posts.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? Our current JO’s are happily posting along right now!

Who is the shining star this month?

Gamemaster: Robert Archer

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The planet side team has discovered the cause of the planet’s strange appearance and are in the process of analyzing out it could function to let them return home.

Ship side the medical staff are deep in surgery while the rest of the crew are busy discussing what they found out below.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? Collective effort from everyone involved on the ship!!

FComm’s Comments: With sim wrapping up, looking forward to more character building side Sims.

USS Leviathan

Commanding Officer: Sharon Miller

How is your ship looking overall? - Captain’s Log - August

Once upon a time, we were brothers. Now I fear that the man I once loved as my own son will be revealed as the architect of the Leviathan’s destruction. Every one of us understands the mission - to capture. To contain. To control. But to set loose? To unleash upon an unsuspecting ship and unprepared crew? Only a singular intention could have led a man to follow such a nefarious path. And yet even now I find myself unable to accept it, that Roebuck could indeed have planted the Mariner as a distraction from our current mission. Does our shared history paint me as a fool? Or is Mr Magnusson correct when he suggests that perhaps Roebuck was trying to help us. And that the Mariner could hold the key to surviving our current predicament?

Either way, time runs out as the Alini Triangle looms. The footage from the Essex and the Rokovoko was troubling and already we see hints of repetition on our own ship. A strange, black substance appearing in patches all over the ship, its movements strange, its auditory properties unnerving, the suggestion of its effect on our crew too terrifying to admit.

Thankfully my crew remain one of which I am immensely proud and even now, on the edge of the abyss, we continue to attract the most courageous of souls, with several new crewmembers coming onboard just in time to take up arms in this battle.

Doe successful containment of this anomaly remain within our grasp? Or has the Alini Triangle already taken its hold?

Captain Zachariah Cobb

-*-

August was a steady month for the Leviathan, with our newer players, Miriam W and James Gray, continuing to find their feet and create some truly exciting drama all over the ship! We continued to grow our roster with another returning member, the fantastically creative Jim Watkin, bringing us a marine to bolster the ranks of the RTF. And two new and most welcome faces in the talented Lori Miller and David Stiles as, respectively, our new CNS and an expert in airborne anomalies!
Sadly this month also saw us lose, to the anomaly of real life, the wonderful Melissa Aragon. Her security officer, Jewels, had some fantastic moments onboard the ship and I hope one day she will find the time to return.

Sim-wise, I must confess that I have slowed to a crawl with ‘Year of Hell’, partly due to having a week away. But the crew have been brilliantly creative with what I’ve given them so far and are also developing side stories and relationships all over the ship. Overall we made a total of 424 posts for August, which is almost double what we managed in July and definitely a number to be proud of.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? Lots of wonderful personal threads this month, but I really enjoyed this interaction between our CIO, played by Hjortur Ingi, and our Galdori newcomers, played by Miriam W, as they tried to work each other out:
https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf1/leviathan/posts/148977/

SPOTLIGHT: Our JO’s and swings have definitely been the lifeblood of the ship this month and two in particular deserve a mention for some hilarious interactions and some impressive, rapid fire posting:

James Gray has more than found his feet on the Levi and has thrown his engineer into the Year of Hell storyline with great enthusiasm and a very creative approach to the Mariner anomaly. He has also brought us a creepy EMH in the form of a plague doctor, who has OOC been a huge help in picking up some of the slack in our medical department.

Equally, Christina Crafford has stepped up to assist in medical with talented but slightly creepy child, Cerenity. Meanwhile, with her security officer, Luna, she’s had some really sweet moments in a heart to heart with the Levi’s own XO.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.I’m still settling in a couple of new players and have one more working on their character. That should see our roster nicely re-energised for the dark and turbulent times ahead as finally the Leviathan succumbs to the Alini Triangle and prepares to discover what awaits them on the other side!

VACANCIES: We need JO’s in science and engineering if anyone is interested in joining us on our latest adventure. Please reach out to myself or Jake if interested.

Executive Officer: J Ridgley

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? It’s been a reality good run this month for our DHs, I’ve seen an increased interest in Side simms and the current mission. We’re still in a position where we’re shaping up our command staff from recent departures but heading in a good, better even direction.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?As always the JO’S breath life into the ship and are a constant moving cog to the ever grinding beast that is the Leviathan I can never speak highly of this bunch if writers.

Who is the shining star this month? This month for me it has to be Sharon, she has brought us a refreshingly unique mission which has me gripped to the edge of the seat whenever she writes.

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: The ship is doing fantastic and I look forward to the announcement of it’s full release into the Fleet with the final eval this month. Again, the CO is to be commended in turning a “flight of fancy” into a marvelous wonder.

USS Manhattan

Commanding Officer: James Sinclair

How is your ship looking overall? With 390 posts in August (403 in July), the ship is remaining steady and active. We lost two valuable writers with the loss of Steven and the resignation of Ben, but the ship is still active and the Main Sim is steady. We have a new XO in Jenn Ward, and a new Counselor with the gifted Lindsey BayesThe XO will be tasked with recruiting JO writers for all departments this month.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? The Main Sim is my favorite part of the month. It is intriguing and already engrossing in the best way possible.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.I would like to see more JO’s on the roster by this time next month.

Executive Officer: Jennifer Ward

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?It has been a slower month for Manhattan with the transition. The department heads are either active or on a short LOA. But they are getting back into the swing of things. Side sims are, as is expected of the Manhattan, stellar and excellent examples of the quality of writing the crew is known for. The crew is getting to know the new XO. James created an absolutely fun loving and hilarious introduction to the bridge crew and our COO is rather wary of the over eager XO. Wonderful and varied characters that are a pleasure to meet.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? The JOs have been slower, but now with the sim moving forward they are getting more involved. Our CRIT team has been activated giving them lots of areas to participate in and really show their creativity and the opportunity to let their characters stretch themselves. Our engineering JO startled the new XO while she was attempting to get decent coffee from the Chef. She just popped right out of a wall and then proceeded to take her arm off so she could repair it. There is certainly no shortage of surprises and excitement on Manhattan.

Who is the shining star this month? Lindsay Bayes. She plays the amazing Faye Calloway, our counter-intelligence officer. She is such a faceted character and you can’t help but be drawn into her story and sit on the edge of your seat routing for her. But we found ourselves in need of a counselor and Lindsay stepped in with the most amazing character concept and has gifted us with a back story that just shows why Lindsay is such an amazing writer. If you have the time, read the story of Sair Songz (https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf1/manhattan/posts/148552/)

Gamemaster: Gene Gibbs

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: While scanning a sector of space rumored to suggest hints for the enigmatic Turei and their Underspace corridors the Manhattan detected energy readings from a binary system of two white dwarf stars with a single planet. It quickly was apparent that the energy readings were a battle between Kazon and Trabe vessels that involved easily 20 ships. The Manhattan observed the conflict until one of the two Trabe vessels defending the world was destroyed. At that time a distress call was sent out from the world whereupon the Manhattan sent out a call for hostilities to stop. One Kazon vessel, commanded apparently by a Jal-Kulnah, responded with a less than hoped for reply.

The battle was swift, if indecisive. Most of the Kazon vessels were destroyed or disabled before the second Trabe vessel was destroyed. Unable to defeat the defenses of the city below, and the Manhattan between them and the world, one Kazon vessel retreated from the system leaving two, one of which had been hacked by the Manhattan. Survivors have begun to be beamed aboard the Manhattan from the life pods. The ‘only’ damage the Manhattan sustained was being struck amidships by a large chunk of debris from an exploding Kazon ship.

While damages are assessed by engineering, the crew prepares for a delegation of Kazon and Trabe with much talk around mitigating potential incidents from the warring parties. Medical and security is busy with bringing over survivors from the battle - principally Kazon as the Trabe ships had no crew. Science has a new system and world to investigate.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? Kate O’Neill is an absolutely fabulous poster for medical. Two furry thumbs up from someone who couldn’t play a medical character if my life depended on it.
James Sinclair is always pushing not just the sims forward but many and varied side sims.

FComm’s Comments: The ship remains steadfast in relatively good numbers in regards to posts. Going to give help as needed to fill in JO spots to see a better rounded crew by end of October.

USS Memorial

Commanding Officer: Kirt Gartner

How is your ship looking overall? We have a new beginning New GM, New Crewmembers, new equipment, and working on upgrades to the MOTD its a fresh start

In character the Memorial is preparing to take on the new gear and the fighters then leave to investigate a distress call from a long abandoned base though it sounds like they are choosing the memorial simply because it will be easy to write the crew and ship off as being at fault if they fail one of those missions where

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? Melissa Aragon and Jeff Van Zillin in their homecoming thread was amazing to read cant wait to see how their characters develop their future relationship

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.Finish the MOTD updates
Find more people to fill the roster
Attempt to keep the momentum going

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: Trouble adding GM to ship report so here is his report via discord…

The Memorial was just assigned to investigate a distress signal sent out from a Starfleet base abandoned 70 years ago on a planet called Eridion. The planet is rumored inhospitable though most records are classified....
Best contributor.... Kirt Gartner

Looking forward to seeing the sim unfold and the crew settle in with more posts.

Overall, September was a slow month. Post counts were down, though thankfully, not horribly so.
There were several Command changes with XO, GM and DH spots emptying and filling in several ships. Thankfully, everyone’s finally back in compliance and moving forward.

All ships are looking to round out crews and build side sim counts to booster character building.

Goal for October is to help round out ship rosters and see what troubles there may be that are causing such turnovers in high rank positions.
