September 2021

USS Ark Angel

Commanding Officer: Robert Archer

How is your ship looking overall? Overall the ship is looking in pretty good shape, we got a mostly filled roster, and active folks doing things. Our current sim just began and we got through the department head meeting without too much trouble. DH’s are briefing the staff currently.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)?

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.Tackle a few of the AWOLs, and look at getting a new CNS possibly.

Executive Officer: Sam Pennington

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?Overall doing well. Most are very engaged and doing well to keep their own side sims going and drive the main sim forward.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?Mostly very well. We don’t have many, but the majority are consistently engaged.

Who is the shining star this month? Abigail G as V’alura Belmont. She’s just moved her character up to the DH level and that transition is playing out in nice character touches

Gamemaster: Robert Archer

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The sim just began, but the Ark Angel is being sent on a search and rescue mission to find what seems to be a ship from an area known as The Barrens

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward?

FComm’s Comments: Ship doing well. Looking forward to more character growth in coming month and filling in some JO spots.

Ship nominee: Abigail G as V’alura Belmont

USS Asimov

Commanding Officer: Sam Pennington

How is your ship looking overall? It’s doing well. We’re continuing to forge onward with the main sim and have a few side sims up. The crew is filling out with a few JOs and a full complement of DHs, so I am optimistic about our current crew. Posting was up a little since last month, which is always nice to see.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? In the main sim, we arrived at the space station location, and there was this https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf1/asimov/posts/151542/ encounter, both amusing and wonderful wordbuilding.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.I’d like to see our posts go up even more. Anything good can always be better.

Executive Officer: Silke Fahl

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?General overview: The posting all over the board has remained steady and we had only very few LOAs and AWOLs. And while we are below the numbers of IC posts of June and July, I’m not concerned at all. After all, we can’t constantly have months were one single player writes 150 IC posts as was the case in July.

With regard to our Department Heads in particular: We had a change in the CSO position. Trinity stepped down and became a Science JO instead. For them Matt Bongiorno joined the Asimov on September 20 to be our new Chief Science Officer. Almost everyone is involved in the main sim and in side sims, which is great. And I know that there will soon be specific threads for each department in the main sim. So everyone who isn’t involved there yet will be soon.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?Apart from Trinity becoming a Science JO, our ranks were also joined by Terry Sullivan, who joined us as our new Security JO/Helmsman. He seems to be settling in well. And I’m sure James will keep the two of them, along with everyone else, busy very easily.

Who is the shining star this month? As always everyone is doing a fantastic job and I love reading every single post. So as always I find it hard to pick just one person. But I would like to highlight our fabulous GM James Sinclair. I love his sim and the drama and tension our new mission has created (even though my XO character hates this mission, lol). I can’t wait to see how things will continue to unfold!

Gamemaster: James Sinclair

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The Asimov has arrived at Catraken station, an unusual and strange station known to exist only by a few. But the odd nature of the station isn’t what brings the ship and her crew there, no. The Asimov is about to be stripped down and turned marauder and pirate vessel so as to be able to work its way into the insidious organization that threatens Star Fleet… and perhaps the Federation itself.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? The whole crew has done a solid job of participating and engaging,.

FComm’s Comments: Sim and ship are going well. All DH and at least one of every JO position filled, as well as a couple swing. Working this month on helping the CO keep things going.

Ship nominee: GM James Sinclair

SS Bonaventure

Commanding Officer: Melissa Aragon

How is your ship looking overall? Fair to middle… Sim is slow but about to wrap up.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? I think with as slow as we’re progressing, it’s hard to pick a defining moment. Though the npc kids have been an interesting toss up.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.I want to focus on character building in Nov. We need a lot of characters to be fleshed out a bit more.

Executive Officer: Steve Johnson

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? The DH’s are doing okay. Some of them are doing okay with keeping up, but we are having to poke a few to keep them going. However we are back on the ship now, so it’s allowing us an opportunity to start up some side simms.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? The few JO’s we have are doing really well. Overall a solid job by them.

Who is the shining star this month?

Gamemaster: Robert Archer

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: Up and down overall for the Bonnie this month, but we’re slowly sliding to the end game I hope. The landing party has found the mysterious power source deep in the bowls of the planet and base they were at. Ship side the crew is recovering and just about to question their alien guest they rescued and saved.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward?

FComm’s Comments: Sim moving along, about to wrap up. Goal this month is more character growth and perhaps new members.

Ship nominee: XO by Steve Johnson

USS Leviathan

Commanding Officer: Sharon Miller

How is your ship looking overall? - Captain’s Log - September

Like a helpless fly caught in the spider’s web, the Alini Triangle has the Leviathan in its grasp. Ever closer it pulls us in, taunting, teasing, as our primary systems fail one by one, as our crewmembers lose dominion over their own minds. Did the ARU send us willingly into this trap? Collateral damage to the discovery of a new and powerful species that wants no more than to colonise. To control. And to drive malevolently to ruin?

But we have not been beaten yet. My faith in this crew and their collective brilliance buoys me still and they remain a beacon of light and of hope in this otherwise terrible void. Can they unlock the secrets of the Alini Triangle in time? Or will the ARU get their wish and see this gaping anomaly swallow the Leviathan whole?!

Captain Zachariah Cobb

On a personal note, September has been an incredibly difficult month as I spent most of it in the hospital having surgery on my eye, with more to come over the next couple of weeks. Combined with Jake’s LOA it’s been impossible to avoid having an impact on the Leviathan’s momentum and posting has most definitely slowed right down. As always our JO’s are the shining stars and have managed a respectable 227 posts. But it’s a far cry from where I had planned to be in September and it’s also meant that our sim has pretty much ground to a near-complete halt.

In terms of the roster, we said goodbye to our Breen RTF Chief, Kodek Vonn, which left us with a key vacancy to fill. However, I took this as an opportunity to reassess the RTF Chief role and whether it remained viable as a standalone RP position, ultimately deciding that, due to its overlap with the CoS role, it did not. So after discussing with our current Security Chief, Leonora V, I am delighted to announce that her feisty Orion, Surda, will now be assuming command of both departments. Leonora is a hugely talented RPer and I’m looking forward to seeing what she brings to this restructured role and team.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? Our newest crewmember, David Stiles, has delivered a wonderfully enjoyable introduction to his caitian/cat pair of characters as they enjoyed drinks in the Jörmungandr lounge with the captain, Luna and Cerenity (Christina Crafford) and Doctor Hellsing (James Gray): https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf1/leviathan/posts/150622/

SPOTLIGHT: I’ve thoroughly enjoyed reading and interacting with David Stiles’s caitian, Hsull, and his feline companion, K’Haat. The skillful way in which he switches between the thoughts of each character and the tantalising glimpses we’ve seen of K’Haat’s true nature has had me glued to the screen. I’m definitely looking forward to discovering more about both of them from here on out.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.Sadly the beginning of October will see me back in the hospital, so I don’t feel able to make too many promises for next month just yet. So right now any amount of activity from the rest of the crew I’ll take as a definite win. Once my situation is resolved though, and I’m finally back to posting full time, I have a great deal of momentum to regain on the Leviathan and will be reaching out to all players in an attempt to get them all active and engaged with our anomaly hunting once again.

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: Ship has full roster and doing great. They are still moving forward with great momentum. This month looking forward to more character growth and roster rounding out.

USS Manhattan

Commanding Officer: James Sinclair

How is your ship looking overall? Things have slowed noticeably. 361 posts for September. Good, but a tad slower than the two previous months. We have some AWOLs ongoing, but RL seems to be kicking people around right now so no movements will be made until next reporting period. The sim is solid, but has stalled a little with the GM being away.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)?

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.AWOL’s need to be much fewer and further between, especially for two or three people. Would also like to see the sim get back up and running as smoothly as before. Hopefully RL will allow for both of those things to happen.

Executive Officer: Jennifer Ward

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? Most of the DHs are active and participating in the main sim and actively in their own side stories. (Really you all should come read them, they are really fantastic). Current AWOLs consist of DHs and those have been addressed and not that far out. Mostly a timing issue as the clock ticks over.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?JOs are active and participating in the main sim and some in side sims. There have a been a few questions on how or where to get into the main sim that have been addressed.

Who is the shining star this month? Kate O’Neill has really just blown us all away with her CMO Lt Jasmine Wynter in the main sim and caring for the Kazon ‘refugees’ we’ve beamed aboard. Her descriptions are thorough, in depth, descriptive, and really just allow anyone reading them to see exactly what is going on in Sickbay. https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf1/manhattan/posts/152760/

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: Ship in good health. Goals this month are to get in contact more with CO and see what the goals are.

Ship nominee: Kate O’Neill as CMO Lt Jasmine Wynter

USS Memorial

Commanding Officer: Kirt Gartner

How is your ship looking overall? We are finding new footing and getting a sim underway growing our roster and working on improvements to the MOTD

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? dont really have one at the moment

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.Keep the momentum going

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: Sam Pennington

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: A distress signal was intercepted from a barren ice planet called Eridion. Once the home to a research base that was suddenly abandoned, no one knows who sent the signal or why.

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? CO Kirt Gartner. Early in a sim, the CO has a lot to do, and Kirt did a good job with that

FComm’s Comments: Posting going fairly well. This month will focus on roster filling and more main Sim participation.

No nominee

All ships are in relatively good health. Posts and Sims moving along and AWOL issues being handled.
Goal this month is to keep in touch with Captains and GMs to keep things going and work on individual ship goals.
