It was cold, the metal deck plating in which Orvos and Stark woke too. The room was dimly light and there was a strong smell of burnt electronics and fried circuits. Suddenly, as they both regained consciousness, the floor shook violently, causing Orvos and Stark to roll uncontrollably. Debris fell from the ceiling and, somewhere in the room, something exploded, sending bright sparks and shrapnel into the air. More smoke filled the air, causing both of them to cough as they came to their senses.

Orvos hit something when he rolled, a chair or desk. They both felt bruised, but were otherwise unharmed. Looking up, both of them could see smoke hanging above their head.

“I was wondering when you two would wake up.” Came a voice through the smoke and the haze near the back of the room that they were in.

OCC: You two are on the Aurora, I’ll let you describe the Aurora Tony, I’ll play off of that.

-Side Sim GM.

Stark took his time moving, doing his best to look like he was more incapacitated than he was. As his master had taught him he reached out with all his senses leaving sight to the last, coiling and uncoiling his muscles from top to toe he took stock of his true capacity and what his first move would be if danger presented itself.

Orvos coughed as he came to, the smoke being somewhat unbearable. The cold floor felt almost too familiar to him. His hand found what felt like a chair, maybe, to bring himself to his feet. He blinked, taking in the sight of everything around him. The place was a wreck. But it was a wreck he knew all too well. Had the Aurora come to a state such as this?

He noticed Stark slowly making a rise of himself, and in the dark smoke that filled the bridge, he could see some of the familiar things. He ignored the voice and focused first on his surroundings. His chair lie torn from the floor on its side. The helm seat, directly in front of the command chair, was somewhat intact. Sparks occasionally burst from the control panel. He slowly turned around, noting the various stations on the bridge. Tactical, engineering, science. The tactical and engineering positions were directly behind him, facing the large viewscreen. To the command chair’s right was the science station facing the wall that encased the bridge. The multi-purpose display appeared as another screen behind them all on the rear wall.

What had now come of the Aurora? Was this even his original ship? Something was definitely out of place about their entire experience up to this point. It was as if Kivon had control over many different circumstances. Kivon was by no means a Q. So how had he come to do all of these things? His mind tried working, but was suddenly stopped when he realized he had been ignoring the other person in the room, besides Stark Nightstalker.

Orvos turned to the darkness set behind the layers of smoke that formed almost a strange wall between them. To Stark, Orvos would probably be acting different. His typical jovial and somewhat off the wall personality was somehow replaced by that of a seasoned captain. Being back on this ship, Orvos felt the memories of this life surfacing.

“What happened?” he asked authoritatively to the mysterious figure in the dark.

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

Stark was no stranger to weird, in fact protracted times of “normal” made him exceedingly nervous but even he was reaching a limit he hadn’t realised he had. That one question “What happened” resonated with him in ways that made his ears itch with the absolute necessity to hear the answer… really soon!

The figure emerged from the smoke. Stark would recognize him as the old man at the bar from the space station. Orvos however, would knew him as Q.

“Isn’t it obvious?” He asked, the ship shook again, as if it was under attack. “Don’t you know where you are?” He seemed amused by the question.

-Side Sim GM

Orvos’s face took on a hard look. One nobody in many years would have seen. “Q…”

He paused knowing the being well enough. “We’re on the Aurora. There is no reason for me to be here, Q. Whatever deal you have going with Kivon, you need not continue with it. He seeks revenge. You are not that way, Q. Send us back and restore what has been done.”

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

Q smiled sadly. “I have nothing to do with this. I’m here to help you honestly. Assuming of course you want it? I did think about letting you go through this in the dark after all.” He shrugged, then turned to walk to the back of the bridge.

Orvos only relaxed for a moment. “And why would you want to help me? If you know what is going on, then help me by sending me back to where we were. And get Janna Kingston back to her appropriate time with us as well.”

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

Stark had quite a history with Q himself and he stifled an inward groan as he faced yet again the almighty but impotent galactic annoyance. However he was also aware that antagonising the being was counterproductive so he just sat there and listened with a very out of place “hangdog” expression on his face that said very clearly that a day having ones toenails removed with a large pair of pliers would be preferable to what he was suffering through now”.

Q smiled. “Funny thing time, especially here.” He said, gesturing around the bridge as something hit the ship, causing it to rock again. “Have you figured out where we are yet, where we have been?” He asked looking between Stark and Orvos.

-Side Sim GM

Where we’ve been?, he thought to himself suspiciously. It dawned on him, as he knew the only place it could be. “Q…you need to get us out of here. Stark…Janna…even Kivon. They can’t stay here. They can’t! You know they shouldn’t. I know the powers of the Nexus, Q. The longer they stay, they greater the chance they won’t want to leave.”

He quickly turned to Stark. “Stay focused Stark Nightstalker. Don’t give in to the edging joy.”

Orvos then turned back to Q. “Why are we here?!” It was clear that Orvos knew what this place really was. He knew the temptation of joy and bliss that could be found in the strange place called the Nexus. It took pure focus to keep away from all of the distractions. The Aurora was a significant distraction enough for him. But he had so many more possibilities within his mind to be get stuck in this place once again. He had to find Janna. And Kivon. Why were they all here like this?

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

Stark deadpanned, “Joy… Q is here, what joy could I be experiencing right now”. He did however quiet his breathing as K’Tan had taught him and focused on the inner flame of his being. He knew all too well how stray thoughts could lead you astray here.

Stark Nightstalker CIO

“I have little power here Orvos. This is your realm. As I recall, you are supposed to protect the nexus. Kivon has managed to corrupt it, use it to extract revenge on you.” He pointed to the view screen. On the view screen they could see hundreds of borg vessels, and Orvos’s homeworld under attack.

“The question is, what are you going to do about it?” Q asked.

-Side sim GM

Orvos was the protector of the Nexus… Several things crashed together in Stark’s mind and memory at this point. It hurt. He looked at Orvos with newfound respect, and he’d had plenty of respect for the man before. His brain definitely felt like it had a big nail in there somewhere…

Orvos stepped forward, his posture much less aggressive and much more sorrowful. His home, the entire planet. To see the wreckage was one thing, to see it in be consumed by the borg was different. It felt real…too real.

Too many emotions ran through the man as he moved to sit in his command chair. His ship was not going to do much now. But…this was a reliving of the story. This didn’t just happen. They were in the Nexus, and all of time was at their disposal. Time meant nothing here. And Kivon was well hidden from them…for now.

Orvos stood up, burying his emotions for the time being. He needed to regain control of the Nexus. And Janna! Oh, where had he hidden her? If this was the Nexus, he was not about to witness her death. He would make sure of it.

He turned to Stark. “This could become a bit wild, Stark. I assume you expected nothing less?” he said with a smirk that didn’t quite reach his eyes, but was still apparent on his face. “I don’t know where Janna is, so I need to regain control of the Nexus. Only then will we know. I never meant for you to be dragged into my past, my friend. Kivon and I have lived a long time. You may not like what you see.”

Orvos then turned to Q. “And what’s your role in this Q? What’s in it for you?” he asked.

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE
