Stark deadpanned, “Joy… Q is here, what joy could I be experiencing right now”. He did however quiet his breathing as K’Tan had taught him and focused on the inner flame of his being. He knew all too well how stray thoughts could lead you astray here.

“I have little power here Orvos. This is your realm. As I recall, you are supposed to protect the nexus. Kivon has managed to corrupt it, use it to extract revenge on you.” He pointed to the view screen. On the view screen they could see hundreds of borg vessels, and Orvos’s homeworld under attack.

“The question is, what are you going to do about it?” Q asked.

Orvos was the protector of the Nexus… Several things crashed together in Stark’s mind and memory at this point. It hurt. He looked at Orvos with newfound respect, and he’d had plenty of respect for the man before. His brain definitely felt like it had a big nail in there somewhere…

Orvos stepped forward, his posture much less aggressive and much more sorrowful. His home, the entire planet. To see the wreckage was one thing, to see it being consumed by the borg was different. It felt real…too real.

Too many emotions ran through the man as he moved to sit in his command chair. His ship was not going to do much now. But…this was a reliving of the story. This didn’t just happen. They were in the Nexus, and all of time was at their disposal. Time meant nothing here. And Kivon was well hidden from them…for now.

Orvos stood up, burying his emotions for the time being. He needed to regain control of the Nexus. And Janna! Oh, where had he hidden her? If this was the Nexus, he was not about to witness her death. He would make sure of it.

He turned to Stark. “This could become a bit wild, Stark. I assume you expected nothing less?” he said with a smirk that didn’t quite reach his eyes, but was still apparent on his face. “I don’t know where Janna is, so I need to regain control of the Nexus. Only then will we know. I never meant for you to be dragged into my past, my friend. Kivon and I have lived a long time. You may not like what you see.”

Orvos then turned to Q. “And what’s your role in this Q? What’s in it for you?” he asked.

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

Q smiled and looked around. “Kivon managed to turn what should be bliss into a nightmare.” He pointed again to the view screen. “He brought the Borg into his nightmare, and all the lost souls here are also experiencing it. I’m here to point you in the right direction, because I don’t want to clean up this mess.”

Orvos looked back out at the viewscreen. Kivon was El Aurian. Losing their homeworld had distraught him as it had any other El Aurian. Why was he causing the Nexus to relive it again? For the sake of simply forcing Orvos to relive it? He shook his head. It was too much to have to relive, so he turned away fromt he viewscreen.

“We need to find Kivon. Unfortunately, I can’t just will him out of the Nexus. We will need to find him and overpower him with our will. We can’t let whatever despairing things he conjures to push us away.” He paused, readying his mind for the worst. Orvos then turned to face one of the several doors on the bridge. “There’s the observation deck. There ought to be some gear for us in there Stark.”

Upon entering the observation deck, both of them would note how Orvos had likely kept it. A large computer map would be located on a large screen at the end of the room. A lengthy table encompassed the center of it with multiple seats and personal displays for each potentially seated person. On the left side of the room were windows looking out at the stars, borg vessels everywhere as the the El Aurian homeworld was being subdued by the enemy. To the right side of the room were display areas that held items of special interest.

Orvos reached for a long sword. It was considered ceremonial for a captain to wear. A leader had to protect their people, and the sword was a representation of that. Despite the representation, it was still very much usable and very much sharp as ever. He took it out and set it on the table as he glanced at the other equipment. He still had his drone device, but his shield band was gone. He had given it to Janna back on the starbase when things started really going awry. His shield band was here though. Or at the very least, it was a copy of it. He put that on the table as well. He then looked between Stark and himself.

He grinned as he considered the clothes he wore. If he was to play the part of captain, he needed his uniform. He opened his mind to the Nexus and desired his old El Aurian fleet uniform, wondering if the Nexus would still respond to any requests.

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

Orvos felt the nexus in his mind, but it was darker then he remembered, corrupted. A uniform appeared on the captain’s chair, but not more then 2 seconds after it appeared, it burst into flames.

“If I may suggest, “Q stated with amusement in his voice. “you figure out a distraction first, before you try that again.” Q smiled then said. “Well, good luck, let me know how it turns out.” With a snap of his fingers, Q vanished in bright white light.

“Always a pleasure” Stark said to empty air. If sarcasm was capable of existing as a corporeal form it would have jumped from Stark’s mouth and tried to bite Q on the leg. “Well I guess I’m not going to be able to whip up a trained attack Targ with my imagination so these will have to do”. He looked at his claws and steadfastly refused to accept the notion trying to come into his mind that they didn’t really exist here.

“The Nexus has been corrupted,” Orvos sighed aloud. “A distraction.” He pondered a moment as he strolled out of the obervation room and back to the bridge.

“Stark, man the weapons if you can. Let’s get a damage report on the Aurora.” Orvos moved over to the helm, only a few feet fromt he captain’s chair. The borg in this time, as it were, had finished with the planet below. But there was so much more than just dubris and rubble. Memories were down there. Times of long ago. He had known where Kivon had grown up, and even knew where his family had lived.

If he could get the Aurora down there, perhaps they could get Kivon’s attention but visiting the place where they last had lived. But what then? Perhaps somehow, Janna was being held down there on the planet?

Wait…hadn’t Kivon made it a personal vendetta against him? Orvos turned to Stark. “What had Kivon said he would do to Janna?” He couldn’t remember as the Nexus was effecting his thinking.

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

Stark took the weapons console, he seemed to know instinctively what to do with it which was at least a small nexus born blessing. “He seems to think that her demise might be seen as a personal affront to you Orvos, perhaps he knows something about the two of you that neither of you have figured out yourselves yet… or perhaps he’s just a first grade nutter. Either way her end isn’t going to be quick of painless so let’s get to her quickly”

Scans would show that the Borg were everywhere. There were hundreds of cubes and spheres. The battle seemed to be near the end. There were pockets of resistance, where groups of ships were making a stand, but it was essentially over. The Borg were ignoring the Aurora for now, they didn’t see it as a threat.
