I’ve posted this in Command. Please take a moment to read and then come back here: https://www.star-fleet.com/core/command/command/notes/19209/

Writing this post here on the Athena is harder, because Jeremy has been such a deep part of this ship for many years now. I had sort of just truly come into my own when I brought him on as an XO and training him was something I really enjoyed doing. He became more than just a protege, he became a dear friend.

Our first thread together took place on the “old” Athena (the Trafalgar-class ship), where an old precedent from previous COs somehow allowed our tiny tactical destroyer to have a 50-person hot tub. Never mind that it was impossible, let alone impractical- it was an inside joke along with the purple velvet covered command chair. Anyway, in this thread, my CO’s leg stump is sore (pre-new leg), so she goes to have a soak in the hot tub. Antin shows up and starts to flirt with her! She goes along with it for a minute until he clues in he’s talking to his new Commanding Officer. lol.

Jeremy was a wonderful collaborator and partner-in-crime. I know many of you had wonderful threads with him. It is an understatement to say that he will be deeply missed.

He and I did speak a little while ago about him stepping down at the end of the sim and he encouraged me to look for a new XO. I did as he asked and I did find someone. I will announce them soon and they will join us after the sim is over.

As you can imagine, it’s a struggle for me. I will do my best to post when I can, but I am determined to keep Ian’s wonderful sim on track to its near end.

Please, take time if you need it. Just let me know if you think you won’t be able to post. Meanwhile, if you’re able to join us Friday evening EST for an informal toast to the Ox, please do pop in. But also feel free to leave your thoughts here as you like.

~Linds

I don’t trust myself to have words as eloquent as yours Linds but know that I wish I did to pay a fitting tribute to Jeremy. He deserves it and more. All I can offer is something I’ll talk to you about privately regarding Nico and the XO plus the future version of him that visited us through the Guardian briefly. Let me know Linds when you’re ready to hear my idea to use the Sim to give them a fitting send off. Sad, sad day.

Ian.
