Janna logged off her terminal and moved across the room, opting to sit on one side of the sofa closest to his chair. “So, here you are, Doctor Smith,” she said, reaching a hand out. “I’m Doctor Kingston, but please just call me Janna here. And unlike your Doctor title, mine is just for my last degree,” she added with a grin.

“What should I know about you?” Kingston asked, sitting back in her seat.

He shook her hand, it felt oddly cool. “Indeed, here I am.” he gave her a warm smile. “I play the saxophone, I read a lot, I love my job and good food, sometimes I try to cook myself, even if it rarely turns out edible. I’m quite centered in my personality and have had no major upheavals in my life lately that I could tell you of. I’m looking forward to start working on such a big ship and I can’t wait to meet the crew.” he said in his deep baritone.

His smile didn’t quite touch his eyes thought, his oddly mismatched green eyes. Indeed his right eye did look artificial as it said in his file and his left one looked… sad? It was hard to say with only one eye to go on.

“Well then,” Janna said simply, gazing at him appraisingly. It wasn’t his expression that caught her attention but his words. People who automatically insisted everything was okay usually were covering for the fact that it wasn’t. But it didn’t mean she was going to go on the offensive, oh no. Right now they were just going to have a simple chat and see what happened. “You’ll be glad to know that we have kitchen facilities in 17 Forward, the upper level of our Lounge space. What would you could o a whim, if you could?” she asked curiously.

His eyebrows went up a bit “What I would do on a whim? Hm, well let’s see…” he said and thought of a certain very special chair and a pair of golden eyes.
“I would buy myself my own little ship and learn how to fly it.” he said.

OOC: that was totally a typo, lol. Was meant to be ‘what would you cook’. haha.
IC:
The beauty behind these sorts of conversations, at least with someone like her, was that it really didn’t matter what she intended to ask so much as how the other person interpreted it. A disconnect or miscommunication was not necessarily a bad thing. “Why get the ship first rather than learn to fly them first?” Janna asked.

Darn, he had to upp his game with this one. He gave an easy laugh. “Haha, true, yeah I’d have to do that first. I guess in my daydreams such details get overlooked.” he joked.

“It happens,” Janna said with a grin. “What is it about flying that appeals to you?” There was definitely something guarded there underneath the facade of joviality, but that meant nothing necessarily, nor did she always feel the need to pounce on something just because it was there. Therapists all had their own style and hers was to let the client led the way while she made sure to call them on BS when it came up.
