There was a sight to see in the corridors. News travels faster than the speed of walking, and by the time Luka had finished her meeting with the Captain, a sizeable portion of the human NEs knew that a “werewolf” was wandering the ship. And by the time she had arrived in sickbay, almost everyone knew about the white-furred alien. She smiled slightly at the ensigns who gazed at her in curiosity. It wasn’t often that someone other than one of the main Starfleet species got a position like XO.

She stepped into sickbay and stood off to the side, fiddling with her Universal-Remote-Interface while she did so. Once she had been brought to see the Medical staff who would give her the boarding examination, she would upload her medical files and species information onto the Sickbay’s database from her URI. She quietly hoped the CMO had at least a little experience with her kind and she wouldn’t have to go through the usual hoops of explaining what she was.

Luka, XO

Benjamin had been in his office finishing his weekly report when he noticed the door opening and the large bipedal wolf creature entered his sickbay. He’d heard the whispers from his staff outside and gathered that the new first officer was arriving. The thin Scotsman stood up, grabbing his white coat and swishing it on and left the Office. He grabbed his personal PaDD from his coat pocket and opened the Laleri’s Medical file “Commander Lukagu, I presume” The Doctor smiled at the new XO “I’m Doctor Benjamin Grey, Chief Medical Officer. Welcome aboard” He put out a hand in typical Human fashion. Facing her she could see that he was her height if only slightly shorter. Dark well combed hair and his eyes an intense shade of green.

Dr Grey - CMO

The Alien officer smiled slightly. “Please, call me Luka. It’s lovely to meet you, Doctor,” she said. Instead of returning the handshake, she bowed slightly before performing the Galdori Salute. Her right palm rested on her chest, then extended out in a graceful motion towards Benjamin. “May your hearts beat strongly, and your love grow wide,” she spoke as she performed the action, then pulled her hand back again, folding her hands in front of herself.

Benjamin simply smiled at the Commanders action, pulling back his hand and reciprocating the bow.

“I’m here for my Medical Check-in,” she stammered lightly, pressing her URI to send additional information regarding her medical files to the Doctor.

Luka, XO

Benjamin tapped once on his PaDD as he received the extra files from the Commander. He then indicated that she follow him and led her past several wide-eyed NE’s and stopped next to a biobed “If you wouldn’t mind” He pointed to the bed before grabbing a Medical Tricorder from a nearby shelf. “Don’t mind the crew, although I guess you’re used to the staring by now. Not many have ever seen a Galdori and even fewer a Laleri.” Ben placed the PaDD in his pocket and opened the Tricorder, grabbing the little magic wand in his right hand with a smile “Shall we?”

Dr Grey - CMO

“I’m surprised that you have,” she admitted. “Most of the CMOs on my ships have given me similar wide-eyed stares until I told them to stop staring and give me my check-in,” Luka sighed, although there was a good-natured smile on her face. She got onto the biobed and relaxed, waiting for the scan. “Go ahead,” she spoke.

Benjamin simply nodded as he carefully waved the wand across her body from head to toe.

Dr. Grey’s scan would show Luka to be in relatively good health. Both of her hearts were beating at a healthy pace, her internal body temperature was 33 degrees Celsius, just a little colder than the average for her species, but still within healthy norms. She appeared to have a slight mineral deficiency, but other than that, everything checked out fine. “So, how’s the prognosis, Doc? Am I going to live?” She asked.

Luka, XO

Ben chuckled as he closed the tricorder “Oh I don’t think you need to worry much, Commander. Other than a slight Mineral Deficiency that should be easy to fix, a glass of milk and some bananas should fix you right up” He leaned against the bed facing the new XO “But your temperature is slightly lower than the norm. Just hydrate a little and you’ll be fine” Ben grabbed his PaDD from his coat pocket and quickly read over some notes of his “I went to the Academy with a Laleri, I’ve always been deeply interested in Sapient Species with a shared Ecosphere like on Galdor or Xindus and he was very fond of Whiskey so we became fast friends, well that and Academic rivals” Ben said with a sly smile “You could say I’m more or less aquanted with your species.”

Dr. Grey - CMO

“Good to know,” Luka said in reference to the information about her health. “I’ll be sure to eat more bananas.” His words about having known a Laleri in his past interested her. “I’d love to hear more about this Laleri. I didn’t go through Starfleet Academy to get to where I am, so my first extended contact with Humans was when I was transferred to Starfleet. There’s records of each Galdori who enters Starfleet, so I’ll probably recognize the name,” she added with a chuckle.

“Whiskey is fine, but brews from home are superior. There’s something that just doesn’t compare from the soil and water of Galdor,” Luka said as she got off the biobed. “I’d share some with you if I had any, but unfortunately I’m all out of Galdori spirits.”

As she got ready to head out, she stopped and said, “Oh, I have a pet. Would it be here that I’d bring him for medical issues, or is there a veterinarian-type of facility in Sciences?”

Luka, XO

Ben chuckled “No, no it’s fine to bring him here, I don’t advertise this but when I was growing up on the Grey farm I studied to be a veterinarian before I was accepted into Medical school. I later pursued a minor degree in it as many Officers like to have pets onboard. What type of animal is it, anything non-terran I’ll have to research”

Dr. Grey - CMO

“Most certainly non-terran. His name is Mukin, he’s a Borkin from Galdor,” Luka explained cheerfully. “Borkins are…” She thought for a moment. “For lack of a better term, they are the dog of Laleri. I will send you a quick reference file. If you would like to meet him, you are free to drop by my quarters anytime I’m around. I’d enjoy the company!” She joked.
