Down the bar a bit, Janna watched the new arrival settle in and do exact what she always did. She still didn’t know Delaney very well, but they seemed to get along well enough during the game in the lounge before. Slipping off her bar stool, she carried her drink over and took up residence next to the security officer. “Here to play my game are you?” she asked with a slight grin, tucking errant blond curls behind her ears. She looked around at the other people. “People watching has always been a strange but fond hobby of mine.”

She watched as the Assistant Counselor joined her at her end of the bar… well, not really her end, but where she happened to choose to sit today. She smiled at the woman but her smile turned to a moment of confusion. what was Janna’s game? Soon that was clarified and Izzy relaxed, grinning too as she joined the woman looking around at the others. She replied to the woman with her Irish brogue coming forward. “Oh yes. I am afraid you do no’ have the monopoly on people watching counselor. Security makes i’ our life really. It’s almost automatic at this point and a busy lounge makes for excellent people watching.”

Janna chuckled. “Of that I have no doubt. We’re in good company. But I’ll tell you a bit of a secret… my people watching isn’t a part of my behavioural science studies,” she said with a creeping grin as she leaned in slightly. “I like to make up stories as I watch them. Imagine what the conversations I can’t hear could be. It’s admittedly a bit sad, but not a lot of people go out of their way to socialize with counsellors, so I make my own amusement.” She wasn’t upset by this point- it was simply a fact.

Isabel’s eyebrow rose in surprise. She had not expected this woman to tell such a secret to her. Her eyes went out to the crowd, taking in the body language of some and how the idea could be an interesting one. “I am afraid I might be too accurate in my assessments of their conversations. Do you find that to be an issue, or do you really let flights of fancy to determine how wild a story you can create?”

Isabel had long been one of those people who didn’t socialize with counselors, but honestly she had not had one on her last ship at all and thus was less afraid than maybe she should have been. She seemed to have no problems talking with Kingston.
