Orvos’s station in his office got a new message from sickbay. It asked him to get his regular medical exam done sometime soon, as it was due. It was signed by a doctor Julien Smith.

  • Julien Smith, doctor

Orvos sighed. He was fully aware of something was wrong with him. Doctors…pfft. Then again, they had their place and they were doing their job. He set down his small project for now and set out for Sickbay. Best to just get it done now then to wait and let it linger. It wouldn’t surprise him to get a notification from a counselor sometime soon as well he suspected. Perhaps he just beat them to the punch? Then again…who willingly went to a counselor with no issues to come to mind? Nah. If they needed him, they knew where to go.

It had not taken long at all for him to come to the doors of sickbay and enter. He glanced about, taking in the room before determining to get his exam done .

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

A tall, broad shouldered man with short black curly hair and Lt pips straightened up at the sound of the door and turned towards Orvos. Two mismatched green eyes met his. He looked to be in his fourties, and his demeanour as he strode purposfully over to Orvos was one of a very confident man, used to making decision.

He came up to Orvos and gave him a smile and a nod. On close range Orvos could see that his right green eye was in fact artificial.

He was partly curious if the man’s vision could be so effected with some of his engineering gadgets. Probably best not to ask such questions when first meeting though. People typically found it to be awkward.

“Lt. Legen, thank you for heeding my call so promptly. My name is Dr. Julien Smith, I’m pleased to make your acquaintance. Please accompany me to the examining room.” he said in a deep baritone, motioning with one hand to one of the intensive care and surgery rooms that was off to the side, separated from main sickbay with a door.
“We’ll be undisturbed there.” he added.

  • Julien Smith, doctor

Orvos glanced to the intensive care room. To be fair, it was odd for a simple exam to be taking place there. He had not much to hide, unless of course they wanted to do a full visual. He found no reason for that either. Internally, he was saying no. However, he decided to simply play along. Best for him to not delay the inevitable. This man seemed to want to have a word with him.

He simply grinned and moved into the room.

As the doors closed behind them, Julien took out a science scanner and scanned the room while saying “Computer, lock doors.” There was an affirmative bing and then Julien looked up at Orvos and smiled a warm smile.

“No worries, I know this seems odd, but there is a reason. As you may have guessed by now, the physical exam was a ruse to talk to you undisturbed. I’m about to reveal information to you which has a command level security clearance and of the Starfleet Officers on this ship, only the Captain and Cmdr. Stark are in the know.
However it concerns me, and since I may require both your and Dr. S’Raal’s services, I would need to let you in on it as well. You can not disclose any of this under no circumstances to anybody else and have to go out of your way to prevent such a leakage. Needess to say, lives are at stake. I can pick another engineer for it, there are a few others on this big ship, but I’d rather it be you, as I value your considerable experience. It is up to you however.” Julien said calmly, still smiling at Orvos.

  • Julien Smith, doctor

Deep down Orvos could respect the need for a ruse. Any other way might have been slightly suspect. He would give the man a shot at the very least. Besides, he did not like the idea whatsoever of a subordinate engineer taking on a command level security clearance without his understanding of what was going on. He would take it on.

“I’ll do what I must. What’s going on?” he said in a bit of a serious tone.

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

OOC: I thought he seemed familiar! lol. Also, confirmed on that email. :) Should be fun!

Julien’s smile broadened and he nodded. “Very well, thank you. Then, may I properly introduce myself first.” he said and gave a short bow, a stray black lock falling into his forehead.

“I’m really Fleet Captain Julien King. Until 6 months ago the CO of the USS Genesis of the Black Fleet. Six months ago I had to step down for personal matters and lost my Captaincy.” his smile did falter shortly when he said that.

Orvos raised a quizzical eyebrow. A fleet captain posing as a junior officer in the Athena’s medical crew? This ought to be interesting. He was curious though if the captain knew.

“Since there is currently no other Captaincy around, I accepted a secret ops mission that is helping my old friend Ghubari. In order to carry that out, I had to come incognito onto this ship. I’ve started in medical and recently delivered my own child, so just to not worry you, I am a real doctor with experience in pediatrics. The reason why I have to let you and Dr. S’Raal in on it, is because I may be injured during this mission and at that point either one of you could blow my cover.” he raised his eyebrows shortly, still smiling.

Good thing he had the experience. He be a nutter if he decided to secretly infiltrate medical with no experience. But why would he need Orvos?

“Now I think I can guess your next question, why you? Well, I’m unfortunately only half flesh and blood, after a big portion of me got blown to shreds in a fight. The other half is cybernetic like my right eye, with an android computer core supporting it to work in sync with the flesh.” he said.

  • Julien Smith, doctor

Orvos raised both eyebrows in surprise. “So you’ll need me to check up on you along with your normal boarding evaluations?” he inquired with a grin. “Can you also share with me why you believe you may be injured on this mission? The more I know the better.”

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

Julien nodded. “Yes I may need maintenance, but more importantly if I do get injured I will need you to fix my android parts, namly the right half of my body. When you return to your station after this, you’ll have a file that you can unlock with your personal command code that will give you access to my blueprints. My CE… that is, the Genesis’ CE added a useful last-resort weapon.” he said and raised his index finger of his right hand.

Orvos raised a curious eyebrow.

A needle extended from the tip, then slid back in under the nail. “It’s filled with paralysing poison, temporarily but with immediate effect. It’s only got one charge though. As for the mission, I’m sorry I can’t disclose that at this point in time. Suffice to say it has to do with previous events on the Athena and their wrap-up.” he said.
“In this mission I’m reporting to Cmdr. Stark as the CIO and of course the Captain is in on it. Also on the medical side Dr. S’Raal is in the know, as he will be my doctor for the left half of my body, he knows as much as you.” Julien said.

  • Julien Smith, doctor

Orvos nodded, certainly looking forward to examining what secrets this man had hidden in his android half. “Is there anything else you need of me, doctor?” he asked. He had a feeling this next mission would be very interesting.

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

Julien gave one nod. “You have to try your very best to keep my true identity a secret. There is a chance that what we seek is right under our nose and whoever knows my true identity will know that I have a few inbuilt perks. Oh and Dr. S’Raal would like to do some sort of simulation with you and me, to find out how you two can best work together… uh… on me … if something happens.” he said and looked somewhat sad.
He remembered the first time Sage, his CMO and Chan, his CE had quarreld over where to put Julien when he had come back unconscious from an away mission - sickbay or main engineering. While they had argued, Julien had woken up and silently escaped to his quarters.... fun times.

  • Julien

“Oh and I need you to help me to devise an automated way out.” he added, remembering the situation in the lounge with Karina*. I need to avoid the senior staff, there is a chance they might recognise me. I can’t fully avoid them. I was having lunch with Dr. Niles in the lounge and the CDO knew her and went to sit with us.” he winced.
“I had to trigger my toxin contamination subroutine in order to get out of that one, which is very uncomfortable for me. If I could trigger a com signal to either you or Stark or S’Raal, so that you com me to ask my immediate reporting for .... something… I would have a valid excuse to avoid a conversation with a senior officer.” he said.

  • Julien

OOC: *happening right now in the thread with Karina Niles ;-)

Orvos grinned from ear-to-ear. “I think I could quite enjoy that.” After all, it wasn’t like Orvos would see the captain’s idea as potential for use on board the ship with other department heads, should the need arise. “I’ll have a device set up to do just that. I’ll find you when I have it ready. When will you be in your quarters?”

He knew it would be likely to get him the tech he needed without too much attention being brought to him. Stark was good about those sorts of things.
