Ghubari gave him a small smile and nodded, moving to the door. It slipped open and she paused, gazing at him thoughtfully. “I know the last twenty-four hours, in their various forms, have been well, hell. But you did good down there, you all did. But I know it was particularly hard on you and your staff. I just want you to know that I know that.”

She gave one more reassuring smile and then slipped back into the main treatment area.

Moving to Laraan’s bedside, she reached over and rested her hand on Stark’s shoulder, exuded a familiar comforting sensation that would tell him it was her. “Come on Ndugu, Shaleah is here. Let’s go get Laraan the help she needs,” she whispered.

Ben gave the Captain a thankful nod and waited for her to leave.

A gentle thought touched Stark. Hello son. You are hurt as well. I will help you, please come

  • Kentaar Shaleah

Stark hadn’t really been asleep, truth was he never slept deeply, as the thought touched his mind one word rocketed into his consciousness bringing him to his feet. She had called him “son”. No one had called him son since his parents had died that fateful night when he was nine. Not even T’Pon’s father had called him “son”. He couldn’t think of words but his mind radiated acceptance at the summons and he waited for the transport.

OOC: Can I go ahead Linds, or shall I wait until you all beam over?

After only a few minutes Benjamin was back outside wearing the same white coat but under it was his grey-blue uniform. On his waist was now attached his Medical tricorder, the same he had been wearing only a few hours earlier, it was still a bit dirty and scratched but functional nonetheless. He went to a nearby Cabinet and gathered a case with supplies and attached a shoulder strap and slung it over his left shoulder, wincing slightly as he raised his arm for the action. He moved over to the two Officers clearing the grimace of his face “We ready?” He asked.

Dr. Grey - CMO

“No” Stark said emphatically slowly getting to his feet, “but when has that ever made a difference”.

Ghubari surveyed them in turn, but focused her pale amber eyes on Stark. “it will be okay,” she said softly, her voice full of certainty. “Let’s all stand close to Laraan t make this simpler.”

When they were ready, Koraia reached her mind out. *Alright Shaleah, we are ready. Bring us over.”

They didn’t see any lights or twinkles. At first nothing happened. Then, the air around them seemed to shimmer as if you were looking at a stretch of boiling hot asphalt on a hot summer’s day on Earth. The shimmering warped their surrounding more and more until everything around them got hazy and then it became clearer again, forming another picture.

They were standing in a room as round as a sphere. The walls around them and even the floor seemed to shimmer and it felt soft like a carpet. Blue light was pulsing through it like veins. In the center of this huge room was a central pillar formed like the massive trunk of an ancient tree, spreading out blue pulsing veins like roots into the floor and above them like branches into the rounded ceiling.

And the center of this trunk was formed by the form of a woman, whose arms melted into the branches above and whose legs into the roots below, an integral, ingrown part of the trunk, half humanoid, half the central pillar and ‘bridge’ of the ship. And her eyes were the same as Laraan’s.

Laraan lay on the floor in front of her, while they were standing in a semi circle around. The almost-white large eyes looked at each of them in turn. They were old, full of the centuries she had lived, but there was a soft smile on her face. Where her skin was still Heleen, they could see the same tattoo-like filigree designs and swirls (frillings) on her skin, only on Laraan’s mother they were silver on a bronzed skin. When she spoke it was with the same multi-layered vocice as Laraan’s, just a cadence deeper.

“Welcome to me. It is good to see you again Captain Ghubari Koraia and you, Stark. Dr. Grey, meet my caretaker Filiah, she’s a healer like you, Heleen style so to say.” she said. At her words a Heleen woman appeared from behind Shaleah-the-ship. She was taller than Laraan and had a stronger built and she had dark brown skin with light green frillings. She was also naked, with only a waist belt, but, as with all Heleen, her frillings made her appear clothed.

She looked at Benjamin with large bright green eyes and nodded to him, smiling. Then she knelt down to Laraan and touched her hand to Laraan’s arm lightly, closing her eyes for a second. She then looked up and reached over to Stark, touching him as well. As soon as she did, Stark could feel her channeling energy entering him. It felt utterly different to Laraan’s but welcome, because her channel was healing and she evaoprated the lingering headache from the blast within seconds… and anything else that had not been 100% healthy.

Then she got up and looked at Shaleah seriously. “Her body is fine, but her mind is shut down in self-defence. For some reason she is holding a vast amount of energy inside herself, it is unnatural, I have never felt such. She feels like… like…” she stumbled for words, looking deeply troubled.

“Like there are two of her displaced across time but linked?” Stark said quietly in the hopes it might help.

Filiah’s large green eyes looked at Stark considering his words. “No not quite… but that concept of two of her sounds right. It’s almost like she holds the life energy of two of herself. You see, Laraan-husband, our universe in this plane of existence holds a certain amount of energy. Energy becomes matter, matter becomes energy in the cycles of life as in the cycles of stars being born and dying and being reborn differently. But all in all the amount of energy/matter stays the same even though it changes its form as time progresses. As you know, when we channel energy we never create new energy or matter, we simply transform one kind of energy or matter into another kind, by channeling. In a way we simply fasten up any physical cycle, but within us we keep up the balance, as it is universal law.

Laraan’s balance is off, there’s way too much, as if there are two of her, but one exists only as pure energy within her.” FIiliah sang and while the universal translator had a bit of trouble with her words, her voice behind the words still sounded etherically beautiful.

Shaleah’s eyes met Ghubari’s. “What happened to your ship Captain? I can read remaining traces of chroniton particles.” she sang.
