R’han watched as the sunset fell on the planet Risa. His body was stretched out on a lounger near a pristine infinity pool overlooking an ocean set on fire by the setting sun. It was idyllic which was why the “Vulcan” man was puzzled at his feelings of discontent.

He had been installed as sub-director of this planet under the previous boss Gul Moped. The Tal Shiar had thought that a man of R’han’s talents would be useful in that position Gul Moped had been dreadful and had run the place as a Vulcan and Human sex prison to pander to the assorted needs of the Klingon Cardassian Alliance.

R’han smiled as he remembered the man’s death 13 years ago. Memory Omega, the mysterious underground movement started by Emperor Spock centuries ago had seen fit to contact him through his Weather Engineer Orvos and warn him that the apocalypse was coming. Turns out they had been using the Vulcan slaves across the galaxy to use low level mind melds to implant certain “suggestions” into the Cardassian and Klingon leaders during massage therapy time across the years. Ingenious… and very effective. Gul Moped had suddenly got the notion that he was a mermaid and could breathe under water. R’han had found him grinning insanely at the bottom of the very pool he was lying in front of now.

Some of his human workers had set up an effigy of the now dead director in the form of a small motorbike which they had duly set on fire. They thought it was hilarious but R’han hadn’t quite understood the cultural reference.

Across the galaxy reports rolled in of Damar shooting Dukat in cold blood, Klingon ships firing on each other and some new breed of fighting force working with the Terran Rebellion led by some archeologist named Luc Picard, M’k’n’z’y of Calhoun and Smiley O’Brien.

Next thing Risa had become a tourist attraction and R’han had found himself director. After 13 years in the job he had found his job as “Chief Hedonist” suited him well, but there was still the nagging feeling that things weren’t quite right.

We watched as Christopher and Jayden Bennett, a father son team that headed up security, did the rounds as people bustled around getting ready for the next show, a newly minted comedian act run by Conner Quinn who had just been signed on. Considering the man had spent many years incarcerated on Rura Penthe R’han was amazed the man had anything funny to say. he’d have to go watch the show and find out the attraction.

A young Napean woman dived into the pool under the watchful eye of her father, a visiting dignitary come for the talks with the Taurus Pact members. R’han watched as the young woman surfaced, she had a look that was somehow haunted, like she had lost something dear to her and desperately wanted to find it again.

A shadow blocked out the sun briefly as Orvos took a moment to rest on a nearby lounger.

“Enjoying the sunset” the weather engineer said in a soft sarcasm laden voice.

“A tinge more purple tomorrow” R’han said half mockingly looking briefly over at Orvos. R’han was one of the few who knew who Orvos really was. It disconcerted him no end to have someone “working” for him that had at one point in time received his orders directly from Emperor Spock himself. To the people of Risa Orvos was a humble engineer and great fun at karaoke parties. To R’han the man was a connection to Memory Omega and a whole universe of intrigue.

“What’s the word’ R’han enquired eyes still on the Napean woman. He nodded briefly at the father who was glaring at him for staring.

Orvos steepled his hands behind his back. “Unexpected visitors coming for the talks” he said with just the right tone of voice that R’han knew he wasn’t going to like what came next.

“The Bajorans are coming and not only are they bringing Kai Osaka Sulan but they’re being accompanied by none other than the Emissary of the Prophets herself Iliana Ghemor, who I might add wants to have a private word when she arrives”.

R’han groaned inwardly and waved to a nearby waiter “My usual please, and make it a double!”

OOC: Great intro post! Can’t wait to see what’s in store!!!
-James

OOC: Me too! This is going to the amazing! :D
~Linds

OOC Thanks :-) No spoilers… haha

The conference room was opulent and featured heavy purple brocade curtains and more lace than was entirely necessary for a supposed place of business but R’han liked it, it reminded him somewhat of Klingon blood flowing down the walls and that appealed to him no end.

Christopher and Jayden were posted one on each side of the entry doors both of them looking taut and ready for anything. R’han had trusted them both with his life on more than one occasion during the occupation and they had never let him down.

Iliana Ghemor swept into the office, her grey Cardassian face uncharacteristically animated. In her service to the prophets she had nearly seen the destruction of both the Bajoran’s and her own race to genocide. That sort of thing leaves a mark.

She was about to speak when Loqaron Koraia burst into the room followed by his personal guard, a six foot wolf like creature with eyes full of hate and mistrust. Within one foot of the door Christopher and Jayden had a Varon T Disruptor to each of their heads. Loqaron looked down the barrel with disdain and the creature from Galdor looked like she was going to bite Jayden’s arm off, disruptor and all.

R’han sighed, the salubrious effects of his morning ablutions were simply not going to get him through the day it seemed.

“What?” he said acerbically.

Loqaron looked at Iliana and scowled. “I won’t allow this woman at the conference table” he said with a slightly upturned lip, “She doesn’t belong here and will only try to skew the talks to her own advantage”.

A voice from the back of the room coalesced into Orvos. R’han started slightly wondering how the man had suddenly appeared from seemingly nowhere. He decided Orvos must have been sitting there the whole time so still he hadn’t noticed him… either that or R’han’s morning routine had left him more out of contact with reality than most days.

Walking right up to Loqaron and getting full in his face, Orvos waved the security down. They lowered their weapons but kept a wary eye on the creature from Galdor. The “wolfshead” seemed to have lost her interest in them anyway and was instead sniffing in Orvos direction with obvious curiosity.

Orvos’ voice was slow, measured, weighty and had a gravitas that R’han had seldom seen in the man apart from when he was imitating Chuck Berry at Karaoke parties.

“Stand down Loqaron, your people will have their say and so will everyone”.

Loqaron looked like he was going to retort when suddenly his daughter appeared in the doorway. She took in the whole scene at a glance and then fixed her eyes on Orvos. R’han read in her eyes a look that said she had come here specifically to meet his “chief weather engineer”.

“Curiouser and curiouser” R’han thought to himself relishing the drama.

Ghemor cut in with obvious impatience. “All this posturing is unnecessary, your precious talks are not why I am here” All heads in the room swept her way… keeping the “wolfshead” in their peripheral vision just to be safe.

“I bring a message from the Prophets” Iliana stated boldly.

R’han immediately went to the sideboard and picked up a bottle containing some unnamed liquor who contents told him nothing other than that they were the colour green. He could feel a migraine coming…

OOC: I wasn’t able to gather what species Loqaron and his daughter are. If it’s not a spoiler, could you answer that?
- Miriam

OOC: It’s not a spoiler. Loqaron is Ghubari’s father. He is known to the Athena crew because he is the CO of a ship that was a part of their Exploratory Fleet for several sims.
~Linds

OOC: This is so exciting! I can’t wait to read more! I’m very interested in what you’ve done with Orvos. hahaha. Keep it coming! :D

-Tony

OOC :-) Thanks all, don’t worry, you’ll all be in their eventually (apart from Konral and Karina, I haven’t heard from you two yet, still time though). Miriam, didn’t think about the fact that you wouldn’t know Loqaron, but I’m sure you’ve guessed who the daughter is now :-)

Loqaron looked like he was about to speak but his daughter stepped in front of him effectively cutting him down in mid sentence.

Iliana looked at the woman, “Ghubari” she said with a small smile.

“Did the prophets tell you my name ” The Napean woman replied in affirmation.

“No, but our intelligence service did, as they told us many things” Iliana looked pointedly at the Galdorian as she made that pronouncement. The tall wolflike creature stood unflinching under the Cardassian woman’s gaze.

There was the chink of ice in a glass and then a slight gulp as R’han took a swig of the green liquid. “Blah, blah, blah” he said in a descending cadence, “How about you get to the part where you tell us the “message” of the prophets”.

Iliana looked at him squarely. “You’re a very unvulcan vulcan Mr R’han but if you insist…”

“I do” said R’han sipping his beverage and raising an eyebrow.

The grey faced Cardassian woman waited until all faces were attentive. It took less than 0.3 seconds.

“The Prophets told me to tell you to prepare for visitors…”

Loqaron couldn’t contain himself and interrupted, “Of course we’re preparing for visitors, the Terran’s, the Romulans and the Taurus Pact, what a stupid…

He spluttered to a standstill as a very furry elbow took him full in the gut. The Galdorian muttered “Please continue”.

Iliana nodded her thanks and continued. “The Prophets told me to tell you to prepare for visitors from the Alternate Realm…”

to be continued…

OOC: just a terminology note, the people of Galdor are called Galdori, not Galdorians :) A common mistake given how many star trek races are named that way.
