Orvos considered what Stark had said. Was it possible that Kivon knew something that Orvos had not yet known? Was Kivon perhaps from the future? Was Janna really someone more important in his life than he knew at present? Or was Kivon truly insane, believing it whatever he must to exact some sort of vendetta against Orvos? So many questions, and so few answers made Orvos a tad bit frustrated.

He intitiated scans on the Aurora. He wanted to know what was functional. If they could get closer to the El Aurian homeworld, than perhaps he could do some more focused scans to see where on the surface she was. Or was she perhaps with the other ships making a final stand? In either case he would need the engines.

While the results of the scan came in, Orvos spoke up. “As much as it would please me that he was simply a first grade nutter, and that it was not truly I lacking in some sort of knowledge, it very well could be that he knows something I don’t.” He sighed. “A simple meal turned into the fight for someone’s life.”

“Business as usual then” Stark dead panned but the humour in his jibe was not matched by the steely glint in his eyes, “I feel the need to do grievous bodily harm to something, preferably Kivon, I’ll take the Borg as a close second and the bonus prize would be a chance at carving my initials on Q’s left buttock”. He grunted as he prepared the ship for a fight “Don’t suppose the Nexus would like to make that dream come true”.

Orvos stifled a snicker. If anyone was able to carve their initials anywhere on Q, Stark Nightstalker would be the one with enough tenacity do so.

A very faint whimpering started coming from the wall on the right side of the bridge. What ever it was, sounded wounded.

Orvos’s brief smile faded rather quickly upon hearing the whimper. He had not expected the Nexus to grant Stark such a request, but perhaps he had been wrong? He stood up and immediately went around the wall of the bridge to see who it was who had been so wounded.

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

Stark moved to an oblique angle where he could intervene if necessary. Things weren’t always as they seemed here and he suspected a trap.

The whimpering came from behind a panel on the starboard side of the bridge. The panel, looked like it had recently been destroyed during the attack. Parts of the panel appeared to still be live, with shorts flickering here and there, deep in the panel’s inner workings. The whimpering came from behind it, barely audible from the sounds of the electricity.

-Side Sim GM

“Let’s cut power to this area Stark,” he stated softly.

As he waited for the wires to no longer be live, he yelled to the panel. “Oy! Who are you? I’m Orvos Legen. I’d like to get you out of there. What happened?”

There was no response, just more whimpering, although it sounded more animal than humanoid.

Meanwhile, Orvos tried finding a way to see past the wiring and into the heart of this open area.

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

Stark reflected fo a millisecond that here in this place he could flick a switch and nothing would happen but then could think about something and it would.... Dutifully he cut the power but watched the wires suspiciously as if they might come alive and choke him, then he dismissed that thought quickly just to be safe.
“Powers down” he muttered reflexively.

As Orvos dug into the wiring and parts of the wall panel, he began to see something grey. After few moments of digging, he could see the grey wolf that was on the starbase earlier. He was wounded, by the looks of it, electrocuted from when the panel explosion. He also had some burn marks on his fur. He wasn’t in good shape.

-Side Sim GM

Stark pitched in to try and free the wolf, watching it carefully. A trapped animal could be dangerous when cornered.

Orvos leaned in closer. “It’s alright youngling,” he said calmly as he observed the animal. Orvos moved to a nearby console and routed some power to the transporters. Using a skeletal lock on the hound, he initiated transport of the animal to the confines of the bridge.

(If the tranport was successful…) Orvos then moved to a place in the bridge’s wall that opened revealing medical supplies of various generic sorts. Pulling out a scanner he went to the hound to determine how much harm had come to it.

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

The Transporter worked and the wolf lay on deck of the bridge. He was breathing was shallow, but controlled. He whimpered again as he struggled to get to its feet. Orvos’s scan would show that it was suffering from 1st and second degree burns, a cracked rib and a bruised left leg. When Orvos approached it seemed to sniff him as best it could before laying his head back down on the deck. The wolf seemed calm.

-Side sim GM

“Stark, he’s got a cracked rib, bruised left leg and 1st and 2nd degree burns.” stated Orvos aloud as he brought a reassuring hand to the hounds head.

They weren’t just aboard the Aurora. They were in the Nexus, and time had no meaning here. Time typically healed most wounds. So, Orvos focused on the Nexus, practically connecting to it as he once had when he first discovered it. If he could reverse the temporal effects the hound’s body had recently indured, perhaps he could restore the poor creature to its prime state.

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

“Poor puppy” Stark said in a rare show of compassion, rare towards humanoids at least. Being of a more practical nature he started rummaging around for a med kit of some sort.

What ever Orvos tried to do with the Nexus worked, sort of. The wolf seemed to get better, but then seemed to reverse a little, as if the nexus was fighting him.

-Side Sim GM

Orvos sighed. “I only have so much power in here. I believe Kivon may have taken control of the Nexus somehow. I can only effect it so much before it starts to fight me on it.”

He lightly grazed the wolf’s head. “We need to find Janna and get out of here.” He stood up to see if the hound would follow. He reached out with his mind into the nexus. If he could simply get a location read, perhaps he could either navigate the ship if Janna was aboard it, or get the Aurora moving to her location. He also reached out for the wolf’s owner. If the wolf was here, he suspected the panther and the man wouldn’t be too far behind.
