=/\= This is Starbase 157 calling the Athena, Athena are you receiving us =/\=

Junior Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

=^=Acknowledged Star-Base 157, this is the Athena, we are receiving you 5 by 5 your transmission is in the clear. =^= R’han nodded towards the science station. “Scan the immediate area for anomalies and then give me your best long range reading of the star-base. After that break down the communication for sub-lingual codes or wavelengths.” Just because you are paranoid doesn’t mean that they aren’t out to get you.

Commander R’han CTO

The scan of the immediate area came back negative apart from a few die hard chroniton particles still clinging to the Athena’s hull. The communication was also standard and contained nothing that would create suspicion at this time.

=/\= Sorry to break up your party Athena but we’ve got something strange on long range sensors and you’re the only ship currently available to investigate. How long would it take you to get the crew back on board for a recon? =/\=

Junior Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

=^=It would require the Captain or an Admiral for me to order a general recall to duty. Presuming that occurs in a timely manner, I would estimate 2-4 hours depending if we were willing to leave crew members behind who were unable to heed the call.=^=

R’han

=/\= Understood Athena, I’m feeding the coordinates to you now. Our long range sensors are picking up a strong source of neutrinos, ionised hydrogen and theta radiation along with quantum level fluctuations. We can divert other ships in the area to it but it popped up so suddenly we’re concerned it might be a short term effect so we’re asking the Athena to do a flyby at your earliest possible opportunity being as you can get there faster. =/\=

Junior Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

=^=I’ll inform the Captain, I’m certain she will be curious.=^=

=/\= Acknowledged Athena, we’ll keep you apprised of any changes in our readings and stand ready to assist you in contacting your crew on the Starbase should the need arise =/\=

=^=Captain Koraia, my apologies for disturbing you… Star-Fleet, has requested that we do an analysis of a series of quantum abnormalites as we are the closest ship and they believe the fluctuations may be transitory.=^=

In her ready room, Ghubari’s face shifted slightly. Was this good news, or not? She wasn’t sure, and she wasn’t sure if her crew was fully ready to delve into the deep end again, but this was Starfleet and this was the Athena: life waited for no one. =/\=Send a confirmation that we’ll check it out. Recall the crew and have all departments give status reports once they are ready to go.=/\=

Fl. Captain Koraia, CO

“By your command.”

Stark arrived wordlessly on the bridge. Monitoring comms was part of his purview and he’d started the journey here the moment the conversation had started.

Stark Nightstalker CIO

=^=Star-base we are executing a full recall and will be taking on your little mystery.=^=

=/\= Acknowledged Athena, good hunting =/\=

=^=All hands, shore leave is cancelled return to your duty stations. The Athena is shoving off post haste. All hands respond. =^=

He looked about “Have all chief’s check their duty rosters and report every fifteen minutes in regard to who is present and who is AWOL.”

R’han

Only 5 min later Laraan entered the bridge, dressed, for once, in her full uniform. Something she never did when she held her sessions, as it made the crew more at ease when they did not see her pips. She had a very serious and concentrated look on her face and just silently nodded to all those who saw her coming in.
Stark and probably Ghubari would know that she was concentrating on maintaining her own control, something that became easier the longer she did it.

She went to an auxiliary station at the back, fired it up and coded it to display all coms and sensor readings.
“My department have all reported in.” she simply said. True, her department was tiny, but she did have one.

  • Laraan, CNS

The coordinates that had been fed into Athena’s Navigation Console showed the coordinates were in the direction of the Ion Nebula.
