Luka stepped onto the bridge soon after Laraan, the fur on her face a bit of a mess. She ran her hand over her forehead and along her cheeks in an attempt to tame it a bit, then sat down next to Ghubari’s seat.

She settled back in her chair, which had been specially fitted with a gap near the bottom for her tail, receiving the notifications from the department heads one by one that all of their staff had reported in. It wouldn’t be long before there were only one or two officers or crew-members who hadn’t reported for duty.

R’han looked at the XO. “XO has the bridge,” He popped out of the Captain’s chair. “The captain is informed and we are prepping for immediate departure.” He turned to face Laraan for a moment. “So far only the counseling department has reported all hand on board.”

R’han

Laraan winked at R’han, or at least she tried to emulate the human gesture, which ended up in a funny wrinkling of her left cheek.
“Mine’s the smallest, so it was easy.” she sang.

Koraia stepped out of her ready room, and took a brief look around, listening to her crew sounding off and assessing the general mood. Curiosity reigned supreme, but was there a bit of hopeful excitement? Moving to the command seat, Ghubari settled in easily, her mind focused on the task at hand.

Liam’s hand found his badge comm then pressed it. He had double checked his charts and ensured they were accurate, every member accounted for. There was slight worry some would’ve been lost in the flood of personnel rushing back onboard, but that didn’t appear to be the case now.

Orvos made his appearance on the bridge taking the Chief Engineer’s console. “All appear to be accounted for in engineering. Why the sudden departure?” he asked inquisitively as he checked his console for all system checks.

“Sudden orders, Chief,” Koraia said. “Looks like we’ve been pegged to investigate some quantum anomalies.” She turned to the left and looked over at her CTO. “R’han, send all the data you received to the department heads. I’d rather we go in with a heads up if at all possible.” This was hardly her area of expertise, but they were getting quite good at ealing with what she was dubbing ‘weird science stuff’.

R’han tilted his head, that was some pretty impressive return rates. “At this rate we should be cleared to leave within the half hour.” He glanced at this tactical station. “All tactical systems are in the green, Tactical is ready for departure.” Of course unlike the counselor, he was a department of one, and could be ready in a moment’s notice. In fact he was always ready to flee.

R’han

Stark watched the proceedings with interest. He hadn’t bothered to call in his department of one, it was obvious he was here and raring to go. Shore leave had turned into one huge fiasco and he was ready, willing and able to get back out into some normal mayhem for a while.

“Well, this is certainly a fascinating adventure,” she commented softly to the Captain. “I’m quite curious to see what my first mission as an Executive Officer will be like.”

Luka, XO

Turning to gaze at her new XO, Ghubari smiled and leaned in towards Luka. “I probably don’t need to tell you this, but on this ship, expect the unexpected,” she said with amusement. As long as their are no Borg, your will probably be better than my first as captain was.”

Fl. Captain Koraia, CO

Luka chuckled amicably in response to that comment, and nodded silently. “What do we know so far?” she asked. “All I know is that we’re leaving soon to investigate some anomaly?”

Luka, XO

NE Brawn replied in his typical Scottish brogue, “We’re not knowing much but a set eh coordinates right now, however the station has sent us their readings which ha a great deal of information including a strong source of neutrinos, ionised hydrogen and theta radiation along with quantum level fluctuations”.

NE Ceres spoke up from tactical his close cropped black hair gleaming in the overhead lighting “Ship wide reports are coming in showing that the repairs to the Athena are nearly complete, only a few minor systems that need to be double checked. We’re good to go on your order”.

Orvos shot up from his relaxed state upon hearing the report. “Theta radiation is tricky stuff. Its typical in antimatter waste. Toxic. And if its high enough concentrations, it could disrupt subspace and prevent us from going to warp. Add in quantum fluctuations, and it almost spells out a recipe for disaster.” Having seen the effects of theta radiation made him somewhat versed in how it worked. Starfleet vessels were already equipped to recycle that sort of waste safely, so it had been some time since he had needed to recall information about it.
