He followed and as they exited the pool he put a hand on her shoulder. “I wanted to ask you how you would feel about bringing Michail in on this, he’s the closest thing we have to an expert on time that is also discreet. I’ll understand if you don’t want to though, I was just thinking out loud”.

“Oh we should,” Laraan sang as they entered their quarters. “Can you contact him?” she asked. “I’ll just get quickly dressed.”

Stark reached for his every present PaDD and sent a coded message to Michail. He was pretty sure Michail would be waiting for them in their quarters when they returned. The man was quite different now after his years of training in the Axis of Time. It unnerved Stark no end to have his friend vanish for a day and then come back three years older and wiser but then he reasoned there had to be an upside to time travel… and that was when he realised that in all the excitement of Laraan’s mother coming he had neglected to tell her some revelations about the part Laraan had had in S’Raal and T’Pon’s child…

“Um, there’s something I forgot to tell you” he started lamely.

“Oh?” Laraan asked, returning dressed from the bathroom, wearing just a light comfortable dress.

Stark smiled as she arrived and stepped in a little closer. “Do you remember Meryidiyth? The unusual being who could be twins or one person”.

OOC She came onto the bridge at the end of the last adventure and reminded everyone to reintegrate so Laraan would have met her briefly and then I’m assuming that scuttlebutt from people discussing what happened planetside would have filled in the rest about her peculiar abilities :-) Ian
OOC: Ah ok, yes :) Don’t know details about what happened planetside though, that was the time period where I was LOA for such a long time.

“Well I saw her only shortly on the bridge, I don’t know anything about her to be honest and from what the crew mentioned in their stories, the information seems sketchy, distorted and even contradictory. But that’s not unusual for people who have been traumatized. Their recollection becomes very subjective.” she sang.

“Hmmm” Stark smiled a little and tried not to look uncomfortable, “She’s a trained DTI agent and has the unusual ability to be able to be two people at once who either cohabit the same space or exist separately. What we didn’t realise at the time is that she’s an agent from uptime and in our time she hasn’t been born yet” he paused for a moment for effect and then continued “In fact she’s about to born to two people who you helped get pregnant recently…”

Laraan’s eyes went very wide and she did not look amused. “You tell me this now? How long have you known?” then, in a very human gesture, she put her hands on her head as she realised the full breath of this revelation.
“Oh my gosh, this could be entirely my fault. I thought something about her looked vaguely familiar!” she sang in a disonat tone.

Stark grimaced a bit, “It’s my fault you don’t know, truth be told it happened so fast and the revelation came so hard that I meant to tell you but at the time you were recovering from the reintegration process and then it completely slipped my mind until now. Michail said that basically you’ve all managed to create a sub temporal predestination paradox crossed with a sub temporal energy reversal… then he said a whole lot of other stuff until he saw my eyes were glazing over and that’s when he summed it all up in the phrase “Happy happenstance” and we left it at that. Dulmer is spitting but Lucsly thinks its “a beautiful sub temporal hepatoma”, what ever that means…”

The reached their quarters and Laraan hurried to get an and get the door closed before she turned to him, still wide-eyed.

“Well. At least I can let go now of any kind of qualms about me experimenting with a second channel. If Heleen authorities ever find out about my meddling in creating a new species with the help of my channel, my life is over. It seems I’ve already committed every major crime my people know.” she sang, her voice had climebed an octave and risen in volume to a level where it was probably hurtful for Stark’s sensitive ears.
She didn’t realise it though. She was in a state of shock without realising it. So far it had always been about the others, those close to her, and she was always able to be strong for them. But this was about herself and she didn’t know how to handle it.

Stark was indeed in a fair amount of pain but many years of combat training had taught him to dull his senses when in danger of overload. “Trust me Laraan, Meryidiyth is one of the closest guarded secrets the DTI has and all of us would die before revealing anything. Michail has backtracked through the science logs from the last mission and removed the only spurious scan of the silicon painting that showed a future being who was part Caitian, Vulcan and Heleen. That just leaves medical checks and S’Raal and I can make sure no one is the wiser about your part in this. The parents are going to have the hardest job raising the little tyke” He put his arm around her shoulder before she could say anything, “I think your mother knows and if she does she hasn’t said anything which is another reason that I believe you’re going to get through this, then there’s the fact that the channel you used for S’Raal and T’Pon was your original one which just had some very unforeseen side effects”. Stark stopped talking and just started hugging. He knew that he was a terrible counsellor and how could he hope to counsel the counsellor anyway?

What he said made sense and calmed her somewhat, but what really did it for her was the hug. Wrapped up in his strong arms and tail, she felt like nothing could ever happen to her, them. She snug up close to him, as always enjoying his warmth and his fur.
After a long while she finally said in her normal soothing multi-layered voice “Yes you’re right. Sorry I lost it there for a bit. It was all a bit easier when I was unbonded I have to admit.” she said and gave him a rueful smile, her light-grey eyes shiny. “I only had to worry about me, now I’m afraid that my mistake somehow hurts you in this crazy time-travelling, fate-changing scenario and that I won’t ever see your green eyes again because of it.” she said, and even while she said it she felt how very true it was.
