Michail came in hurriedly his black Greek curls bobbing slightly in his haste, he seemed to be a little flustered. Whipping out a strange looking device he pressed a button, took out another device checked a reading and then nodded satisfied.

“Sorry for the cloak and dagger” he said smiling distractedly “You have no idea the storm your wider family have started with all this”. He shook his head ruefully “A Caitian, A Vulcan and a Heleen walk into a holodeck… sounds like the beginning of a bad joke and yet here we are staring down the throat of the biggest time stream confluence since Kirk crossed into the mirrorverse.

He looked at Laraan, “So how can I assist you in your investigations into time manipulation?” He looked at Stark and grinned a little like a little school boy about to go on a hike, “One of these days we’re going to have a conversation like normal people and discuss the weather”.

Michail (DTI enigma)

“Hello Michail. Thanks for time-warping by I guess.” she said and gave a short grin. “Well, I last experimented with the second channel after we’ve last met. Feeling what the Heelar did when he channeled helped me understand how this channel works. But a Heleen trains for many decades to perfect a channel, it’s actually hard work, not something that just comes easily. So when I was able to make an apple rot just a bit faster, it was rather amazing, if not really useful in this greater scheme of things.” she sighed, looking at a bowl of fruits standing on the table.

Michail smiled showing perfect white teeth. “As my granny used to say, “If it’s worth doing… it’s worth doing badly while you get better at it”“.

“However since then the re-integration of the other Laraan happened and while she merged with me, her inner energy balance did not, it was somehow added to mine. Even my mother doesn’t know why, because such a thing never happened before to her knowledge. Energy is usually unique and there is a balance of it in the universe, there has to be. It changes form in micro- and macro cycles. Solar systems get born, live and die, we get born, live and die, but the energy and matter just changes form… I’m sure you’re aware of the quantum physics behind it. Anyhow. I’m out of balance and there is no telling what this will do.”

She eyed the fruitbowl with doubt in her eyes. “I could make it rot faster, explode it, reduce it to the seeds it came from… I have no idea.” she said, eyeing Michael. “What I try could happen to that fruit-bowl or the you, Stark, the ship… I’m quite afraid of that.” she admitted.

Michail nodded soberly, “Understood”. He flipped out a hypo and tossed it to Stark who caught it with practiced ease. “I brought this along in case things get out of control, I’m assuming if Stark uses a knockout hypo on you it should put out your energy transference?” His eyes were questioning.

Laraan nodded.

He then pulled out a very complicated device that looked for all the world like an old world toaster with a blender on top. “Our top minds are betting that you’ve somehow created a cross dimensional energy sink and are drawing your power now from multiple sources. This thing will give us a better idea of how, where, why and whether you’ve just become a threat to the known galaxy, please proceed” The last part was delivered entirely dead pan. The man wasn’t kidding in the slightest.

Michail

Laraan looked at it, then and Stark, and then she nodded. The frillings on her head were pulsing slightly in colour depth, a sure sign that she was very excited. She looked at the fruit bowl on the table again and made sure Stark and Michail were standing behind her when she approached it an took an apple with her right hand.

She looked at it for quite some time, but nothing happened. To herself she had to admit that she was holding back, because she was afraid and Michail’s words hadn’t really helped a lot. She had to concentrate and get past this barrier.
She closed her eyes and again put herself back into that room when the Helaar had channeled and she had felt his channeling. She stared so hard at the apple that her eyes started drying, but it didn’t change at all!

Frustrated she threw it against the far wall. That’s when she looked out of the window, and saw that the stars outside had frozen in their seeming warp speed motion. But in that moment she stopped channeling and the motion returned. For Stark and Michail it would appear as if the apple had been moved out of her hand and on the floor in the blink of an eye.

Laraan was just standing there, staring at the window and still busy processing what she had just done, she felt oddly winded, as if she had just run up a few flights of stairs.

OOC: I realise this is de facto a superpower, that’s why I’ll make it unreliable and if you as GM say it doesn’t fit in your plans, you can simply say it didn’t work in a sim situation :-)
OOC I appreciate that :-) Poor Stark is starting to feel like Hawkeye in the Avengers haha.

Michail looked at Laraan, then he looked at the apple, then back at Laraan, then he looked at the machine and sighed. “I was afraid of that”.

“Afraid of what?” Stark said curiously his own eyes a little wider as he looked at the apple.

“The machine shows no readings, whatever Laraan did, it froze the machine as well”. He looked at Laraan, “Could you give us your take on what just happened?”

Michail

Laraan’s light grey eyes were larger as usual. She had the impulse to go over to Stark and snuggle up in his strong arms, but she stood still. There were times to snuggle up, and there were times to be a Starfleet Officer.
She drew a deep breath. “I believe I’ve halted time for this whole room… maybe the whole ship.” she sang in a slightly disonant tone.

Michail was trying to look stoic and failing utterly. “So let me get this straight, we’ve jumped from manipulating time on a localised level to doing it on a much broader spectrum”. Michail grimaced a bit. “Dulmer’s going to have an apoplectic fit over this one”.

He looked over at Stark, “If word of this get’s out Laraan is going to be targeted by uptime factions, some will want to use her, some will want to kill her”. He turned to Laraan and looked apologetic, “You have to know the stakes” he said grimacing even more. “We lost an agent this way, our time shielded records alerted us but in every other respect they simply removed her from the timeline by preventing her birth. The stakes are high but thankfully the balance of time seems pretty adept at stopping that sort of thing happening… usually.” He paused and then continued “Well, you’re in the right place Laraan, the Athena is probably one of the best kept timeline secrets on the books right now”.

Michail

OOC: Given Orvos’s abilities, would he have sensed this shift in time?

-Tony
OOC: I would think so, yes.

Laraan shrugged apologetically. “It has to do with this added energy in me. Like an added charge… it would make sense given the fact that when my people bio-engineered the Helaar in the last era to get warriors who could do multiple powerful channels, they mainly extended their life span. It’s said the fighting Helaar died after only a few decades, because when you channel that much, the energy around you is not enough, you also take energy from yourself. I didn’t do that before, that’s even a tabu for me. But this time I did, subconsciously I guess, knowing that I have currently too much of it anyhow. But that would mean… that I’m kinda like a charged weapon, and once the charge is exploited, it would start reducing my life span.” she sang with a worried undertone.
“Can we check if time stopped outside this room too?”

Stark took out his personalised PaDD, =/\= Computer compare time index on this PaDD with ship wide chronometer and confirm whether they are in sync or whether there is a discrepancy=/\=

=^= There is a time discrepancy of 13 seconds. =^= the computer replied.

Laraan looked at Stark. “The whole ship.” she whispered. She didn’t know whether she should feel happy or terrified. She had wanted this, wanted to be able to have a channel that was strong enough to make sure Stark was safe when they entered the next inevitable fight with this terrifying abomination that had Heleen DNA. And yet at the same time she had just discovered a new similarity between this being and herself.
She silently shook her head. No, she couldn’t think like that. There was no way she would ever even be able to return to a normal life on Heel, and there was no need, Earth was just as much a home to her than Heel. So why let Heel’s dogmas make her feel like a criminal. She was not, she was first and foremost Stark’s mate, and she was hell bent to stay that for as long as possible.

Suddenly, a knock sounded on their door. Not a chime a ring, not the sound of the doors swishing open. A simple knock.

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

Laraan looked up and to the door. She had a weird feeling as if she knew who it was. “Come in.” she sang.

  • Laraan, CNS

Stark went on high alert but as he looked at Michail he noted the man didn’t look worried, in fact he looked like he was expecting someone.
