Janna knew that the captain took her ship and crew seriously, so she had no doubt that Karina’s concern would be followed up on. “I for one am looking for ideas for social opportunities that will help everyone not only get to know each other better, but also provide a release from the… intensity of the sorts of missions the Athena seems to be involved in. “Myself and Counsellor Laraan are always open to suggestions, even something that might seem ridiculous on the surface,” she said with a genial smile.

Marishka felt it would be appropriate to step in at this moment.

“That’s the kind of environment I’m hoping to offer the whole crew. Perhaps you’d like to collaborate with me on a few things?” she asked Janna.

  • Marishka

Janna smiled at Marishka. “I’d be very glad to. Let’s set aside some time to discuss it.”

Kin remained silent, simply watching the exchange between individuals. The ability of other species to move gracefully form one set of social dynamics to another was fascinating to her; and she hoped that she could, one day perhaps, be as comfortable doing so as they were.

Kin, Security

Jayden sat quietly and sipped his coffee. He wasn’t sure what he could offer from engineering, except maybe an offer to contact him for repairs.

Isabel watched and listened. She had no problems with medical doctors. She had never heard of a Lounge being renamed. This was a ship, not a station. Still, it wasn’t her call to make. She ate for a few more moments. The food was excellent. She guessed she couldnt begrudge the woman renaming the Lounge if she could cook like this all the time.

“On the subject of things we do on off duty hours. I do Ballet. On my last ship, I even taught a class once a week on the holodeck.” One might think that ballet was not associated with Security, but she found that it gave her a grace she would not have otherwise. It had been a very advantageous skill in the field.

Delaney, Sec

Janna couldn’t help but give a conspiratorial grin. “Did you know the captain dances?” she said to Isabel. “Not just what we’ve seen her do in public, but apparently when she was younger, she studied ballet and that’s what got her started in dance. I wonder if she could be coerced into attending a class…” It was one of things that could go really well or terribly wrong when approaching your commanding officer about a personal hobby. Koraia had admitted it on more than one occasion that she had gathered from other people’s remarks, but getting her dance in public? It felt like the kind of coup junior officers needed fro m time to time.

Marishka had been taking notes while they spoke.

“I think I’m free for an early lunch tomorrow Janna, if that suits you. And I think dancing is an excellent opportunity for anybody brave enough to get to know one another a bit better. Thank you for the suggestions.” she said with a smile.

  • Marishka

“I’d join in the dancing, but, as the humans say, I have two left feet when it comes to human dancing styles.” Luka spoke up, giving a slight grin. “I wish you the best of luck though.”

Luka, XO

Karina smiled. “I wouldn’t mind joining that class as well. And on the subject. I think each department coming up with some kind of program or schedule to see to everyone on the ship getting some good activity time would be good as well. Ship crews have lots of down time between missions. And when the missions happen, physical fitness is called upon, sometimes on a moments notice. Having everyone participate in a physical activity would keep those senses fine tuned.” She knew it was a lot to ask in a burst like that. But then again, she had the ear of several people. Why not bring it up?

Doctor

Conner watched the conversation a few moments and approached. He stood quietly for a natural break point then smiled and indicated an empty chair. “ Sorry but is anyone sitting there?” He asked with a smile.
