Kallen looked at Chryst who looked back at Kallen and then suddenly in strange unison with voices that sounded at once discordant and harmonic they both spoke and a hundred voices joined them.

“The Mirror is Broken, The Koraia must fix it”.

In the background a dark skinned being moved furtively.

Okay, she was used to bizarre, but this was certainly amping up things by a few notches. Still, she had had at least some experience taking things in stride that otherwise would make the average person freak out. Exhaling shakily, Ghubari strained to see who else was here. “Who are you? Why me?” she asked, not expecting anything more than the cryptic answers she had been given.

A tall imposing man with ebony skin walked out of the shadows, no longer furtive, his head was bald and his eyes were piercing. “You’re real, aren’t you?” he said and then opened up with a big wide smile, “There hasn’t been anyone here but the prophets for as long as I can remember”.

Ghubari stared at the presence, feeling rather shocked. It couldn’t be him, could it? As a Starfleet captain, she knew about this particular man- all captains did. But she felt like she was having an out of body experience, since they weren’t anywhere near the Bajoran system. “I’m real, last I checked,” she said. “What’s happening here?”

He chuckled and his wide grin seemed to light up the gloom. He looked over at the vision of a younger Ghubari pinned by her leg and then spoke into the ether. “Is that really necessary”. The vision flickered and died leaving them alone but with a sense of a presence all around waiting breathless with anticipation. A disembodied voice spoke from the darkness. “The Sisko is adversarial”.

“Damn right” he replied pugnaciously and then smiled again at Ghubari spreading his arms wide, “Welcome to the Celestial Temple of the Prophets, it seems the Prophets would like to ask your assistance”. He spoke again into the darkness “Although they have an interesting way of asking”.

Quirking an eyebrow, Ghubari snorted. “They could just say please, but that is a particularly Terran concept of politeness that might be lost on them.” She exhaled and strangely found herself not all the fazed by this extraordinary set of events. It just sort of was what it was. “What is it that they need me of all people to do and what is so important that the famous Captain Benjamin Sisko would help them ask for it?” Of all the things she had experienced in her life, this was high up on the ‘they wouldn’t believe this if I told them’ scale.

“I’m famous?” He said with a broad grin, “You don’t say…hah” He snorted a little “I’m the Emissary of the Prophets and that makes me famous on Bajor, but I guess I never considered myself famous anywhere else”. He continued grinning “That’s also the answer to your question, they’re getting me to ask you because they don’t understand us limited linear people and they need me to try and translate what they want, which is to fix the Broken Mirror”.

She simply quirked a brow. “Come on, Captain, you’re going to have to give me more than that, and you know that. I’ve got eleven hundred people on my ship. I can’t just snap my fingers and go off randomly just for the fun of it. What is this Broken Mirror and why does it involve myself and my crew?” He had commanded a starbase. He knew just as well as she did that at some point she had to answer to someone and she better have damn good reasons for the orders she gave.
