Marishka had learned long ago that truth and lies were, sometimes, interchangeable. So explaining to Orvos why she had traveled could be both or neither.

“Necessity actually. Growing up in the household that I did, I just wanted out. Why deal with my parent’s chaos when I can go make some of my own?” she said with a sly grin.

  • Marishka

Ah, yes. And there it was. The tip of the iceberg. The beginning of what was visible often had very in depth invisible aspects to it. This much Orvos was certainly aware of as a member of the race of listeners.

Orvos returned the sly smile with one of his own. “So you went to make mischief of your own? What made yours different than your parents?”

Simple questions, that was all really. Orvos was nearly a thousand years old. He could wait for answers, of that he was certain.

Marishka finished her glass of wine and continued with this line of truth.

“I was on my own, not subject to their will. They would have made me part of their chaos. My father, a proud Klingon warrior, you’d think someone like that would have ambitions for their daughter. You would be correct in that.”

She pause noting one of her staff moving closer.

Orvos did not let the pause go unnoticed in his mind.

“And as for my mother, well she taught me everything a good Orion woman should know.”

Marishka held Orvos’ gaze and smiled sweetly. She was perfectly aware of her actions and just how far she would take them but, the moment was interrupted by NE Allan.

He made no visible indication of the gears that had started turning his senses up ever so slightly. He kept whatever thoughts tried surfacing at bay.

“Pardon me. I have some questions.” he said glancing from Marishka to Orvos and back again, “First of all Eroméni, do you ever sleep? And second, will you sing tonight?”

Marishka turned her attention away from Orvos.

And Orvos certainly rolled his eyes.

“Sleeping is something I do when I’m tired and it takes quite a bit to make me tired. So yes, eventually. And no, I will not sing this evening. This evening is about the whole ship, not me.” she explained.

She neglected to mention the slight throat ailment she kept neglecting to have treated. Turning back to Orvos she smiled again.

“Of course, I am an entertainer. Perhaps I should just jump on the bar and dance.”

NE Allan shook his head and walked away.

Orvos raised an eyebrow. He had witnessed part of what she said personally. So it hadn’t taken him aback at all. He took a sip of his beverage as he considered whether she was trying to distract him from asking more. Oh, but he was quite the curious man.

He was well aware of orion women and what sort of things they would do to complete whatever goals they had in mind. They were smart, that was for sure. But Orvos was beyond it. Well, mostly anyway. Curiosity typically got the best of him though. “Its your call really. It’ll certainly get the attention of everyone around here. But you brought over some aged wine. And if you were truly interested in seeking the attention of others, you would have simply told your employee that you would be singing. So, something tells me dancing on the bar is not what you have in mind quite yet.”

Orvos then continued his thought train from earlier. “What sort of things did your parents teach you?” he asked rather simply.

Marishka’s silver eyes gave Orvos a look that would have withered a lesser man. She had a feeling he was much more.

Orvos kept his grin pasted right on his face. Was she losing her composure? Perhaps something she was trying to hide or avoid?

“No, no. Your turn. How can I better serve my customers if I don’t know about them? Tell me some interesting things about yourself, something that’ll keep me sitting here with you.”

She made a grand gesture towards the rapidly filling lounge.

“I should really be circulating don’t you think?” she asked.

  • Marishka

Orvos raised an eyebrow. Was she ordering him to share something meaningful with her? Despite the fact that it was she who came to him? He laughed internally, but decided to humor her for now.

“What is it you’d like to know?” he inquired thoughtfully of her.
