Marishka had learned long ago that truth and lies were, sometimes, interchangeable. So explaining to Orvos why she had traveled could be both or neither.

“Necessity actually. Growing up in the household that I did, I just wanted out. Why deal with my parent’s chaos when I can go make some of my own?” she said with a sly grin.

  • Marishka

Ah, yes. And there it was. The tip of the iceberg. The beginning of what was visible often had very in depth invisible aspects to it. This much Orvos was certainly aware of as a member of the race of listeners.

Orvos returned the sly smile with one of his own. “So you went to make mischief of your own? What made yours different than your parents?”

Simple questions, that was all really. Orvos was nearly a thousand years old. He could wait for answers, of that he was certain.

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

Marishka finished her glass of wine and continued with this line of truth.

“I was on my own, not subject to their will. They would have made me part of their chaos. My father, a proud Klingon warrior, you’d think someone like that would have ambitions for their daughter. You would be correct in that.”

She pause noting one of her staff moving closer.

Orvos did not let the pause go unnoticed in his mind.

“And as for my mother, well she taught me everything a good Orion woman should know.”

Marishka held Orvos’ gaze and smiled sweetly. She was perfectly aware of her actions and just how far she would take them but, the moment was interrupted by NE Allan.

He made no visible indication of the gears that had started turning his senses up ever so slightly. He kept whatever thoughts tried surfacing at bay.

“Pardon me. I have some questions.” he said glancing from Marishka to Orvos and back again, “First of all Eroméni, do you ever sleep? And second, will you sing tonight?”

Marishka turned her attention away from Orvos.

And Orvos certainly rolled his eyes.

“Sleeping is something I do when I’m tired and it takes quite a bit to make me tired. So yes, eventually. And no, I will not sing this evening. This evening is about the whole ship, not me.” she explained.

She neglected to mention the slight throat ailment she kept neglecting to have treated. Turning back to Orvos she smiled again.

“Of course, I am an entertainer. Perhaps I should just jump on the bar and dance.”

NE Allan shook his head and walked away.

  • Marishka

Orvos raised an eyebrow. He had witnessed part of what she said personally. So it hadn’t taken him aback at all. He took a sip of his beverage as he considered whether she was trying to distract him from asking more. Oh, but he was quite the curious man.

He was well aware of orion women and what sort of things they would do to complete whatever goals they had in mind. They were smart, that was for sure. But Orvos was beyond it. Well, mostly anyway. Curiosity typically got the best of him though. “Its your call really. It’ll certainly get the attention of everyone around here. But you brought over some aged wine. And if you were truly interested in seeking the attention of others, you would have simply told your employee that you would be singing. So, something tells me dancing on the bar is not what you have in mind quite yet.”

Orvos then continued his thought train from earlier. “What sort of things did your parents teach you?” he asked rather simply.

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

Marishka’s silver eyes gave Orvos a look that would have withered a lesser man. She had a feeling he was much more.

Orvos kept his grin pasted right on his face. Was she losing her composure? Perhaps something she was trying to hide or avoid?

“No, no. Your turn. How can I better serve my customers if I don’t know about them? Tell me some interesting things about yourself, something that’ll keep me sitting here with you.”

She made a grand gesture towards the rapidly filling lounge.

“I should really be circulating don’t you think?” she asked.

  • Marishka

Orvos raised an eyebrow. Was she ordering him to share something meaningful with her? Despite the fact that it was she who came to him? He laughed internally, but decided to humor her for now.

“What is it you’d like to know?” he inquired thoughtfully of her.

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

Marishka leaned back with a slight smile on her lips. Yes, what did she want form this Orvos?

“Well, I’ve just told you about my family and my desire to strike out. You can spare me your family drama if you like but I’d love to know what you’re doing on this ship. Surely a man of your perceived travels and wisdom could be anywhere he likes right now. So why here?” she asked.

  • Marishka

The catch with El Aurians was they looked remarkably human. There were very few differences between the two, but the only differences were so well hidden that unless an El Aurian had made it known that they were not human, many would never suspect their true heritage.

Orvos was not one to make his true nature known to just anyone. High up officers likely knew, but knew better than to tell just anyone. Had word gotten around? Or had she looked up his file? As far as he knew she wasn’t Starfleet. Then again, he was well aware that Orions who were smart enough could get whatever information they wanted. But she was part Klingon. Could she be that smart? Or was he overthinking it all? Either way, he kept note that she knew part of his true nature.

Orvos laughed. “Perceived travels and wisdom? What wisdom and travels do you believe me to have?” Truth be told, he wanted to know for certain that she knew he was El Aurian.

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

Marishka wasn’t about to explain how she had her information. Let Orvos think what he would, that was part of the fun of their interaction so far.

“Did you know that my sense of smell is much more sensitive than that of a Human or many other races I could think of? You see, my Klingon and Orion sides compliment each other in many ways so someone can look Human but, well…” she smiled and let her words trail off.

“I’m not claiming to know your wheres and your whens, I can just scent that you have them.” she explained.

  • Marishka

Orvos eyed the woman before him for a moment, considering whether she spoke truthfully or not. Regardless, he resigned himself to at least giving some leeway. “I’ve done a fair bit of traveling in my life. Mainly I just do what Starfleet orders of me. Could explain what you smell.” He leaned in a bit closer, eyes locked on her in hopes of not getting distracted by the rest of her body. “What else do you think you smell?” he asked curiously.

Marishka looked him in the eyes and shook her head again.

“Another conversation perhaps.”

Another figure stepped into the Lounge, dressed in plainclothes. Luka’s bright green eyes scanned the room, then she headed toward the Lounge Host and the CE. “Lt. Legen,” she said cordially, placing her hand to her chest and bowing slightly, then turning to Marishka and doing the same. “Miss Marishka. It is good to see you both again. I see that your refurbishment of the Lounge has gone well. Have you decided on a name yet?”

Luka, XO

Orvos leaned back in his chair as soon as he noticed the newcomer. “Please, commander, I’m off duty. Orvos will do just fine.” He said as he gave her a broad grin.

Marishka shook her head and smiled. Thinks were getting a bit intense between her and Orvos anyway so the XO showing up was a good thing.

“Actually Commander, no. I haven’t. I’m still taking suggestions if either one of you have one.” she said glancing from one to the other.

  • Marishka

“Depends on what atmosphere you are going for,” replied Orvos. “Open and fun? Closed off? Dark? Light? Secretive? Very public? Perhaps a smattering of everything?” he continued. “Thoughts?” he said eyeing the two ladies before him.

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

‘That was a fair question.’ Marishka thought.

“I would like this place to be a destination where people can go to socialize, or be alone. A retreat. A sanctuary. Call it what you will. A place that isn’t work I suppose.” she explained.

  • Marishka

“I am not a skilled namer of things, but I will think on it,” Luka said with a slightly sheepish grin.

Luka ,xo

Orvos leaned forward to them both. “I on the other hand, enjoy naming things. This sounds like ‘The Oasis’ to me? Haven? Harbor? Sanctum? Oh, that last one was a bit too ominous. Probably scratch that. Foxhole? Hideaway?” Suffice it to say, Orvos was decent with words. He kept a watchful eye on the pair for the reactions. Hidden or not.

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

Marishka smiled at the XO as she listened to Orvos’ list.

“Hmm. Some of those have real potential. Thank you. I’ll make an announcement tomorrow afternoon. Would you care for some Andorian Sky Wine Commander?” Marishka asked the XO indicating the third glass on the tray. She always brought an extra glass. It was a tradition but, for the life of her, Marishka couldn’t remember where it started.
