With a smile, Janna nodded. “I can understand that. I spent the last several year on a starbase. It was chaotic and interesting. But there is a certain discipline, even on a starship this big, that is reassuring. ” She ran a finger around the rim of her glass and glanced at Isabel. “I’ve got no powers to discern the future, but I like to think I’ve found at least another person I can call a friend.”

Izzy grinned and nodded, her green eyes a soft reflection of the contentment she felt. It had been a while since she had made a friend. Clint on the Europa was far away and she missed him sometimes. He had been a hero when she had needed, a steady hand and a guiding light without judgement. At the time, it had been exactly what she needed. Was she cured of her troubles? No, but she was learning to cope with them better each day. The change of ship had helped some. Europa, for all its wonders and excitement was stifling to her. The Athena was quite another beast and one who’s atmosphere she liked much better. “I think so too.”

“Shall we play a game of Three Dimensional Chess?”

Isabel Delaney, Sec

Janna smirked, and felt her cheeks warm suddenly. “Um, well, we could, but I have to admit that I don’t actually know how to play. So, unless you want to teach me, we might need to find another activity.”

~Janna Kingston, ACNS

Interesting. Izzy had never met anyone who had admitted to not knowing how to play three dimensional chess. It was such a regular activity within the Federation, akin to Parrises squares in popularity. “I am up for another activity if you have something you like doing. I could also teach you how to play if you like. Perhaps something you think Mr. Orvos would like playing?”

Delaney, Sec

Orvos was just finishing up the repair to the blasted replicator. He put the cover back on the circuit panel and then ordered himself a tall glass of iced tea.

“Finally. Works like a charm now.” He said to himself as he collected his tools.

Janna felt her cheeks suddenly go hot and knew how she would appear, so she surreptitiously brought up a hand and rested one cheek in her palm. It effectively hid half her face for the time being. “Uhhh, well… ” Games with Orvos. Oh Gods. Well, why the hell not?

She grinned, watching the other woman blush so readily at the idea of having the Engineer join them. She turned to look at the man who was collecting his tools and looked to be quite satisfied with a job well done. Was he the type to know three-dimensional chess?

Taking a calming breath, Janna lowered her hand having regained some composure and turned around on her barstool. “Hey, Orvos. Do you play three-dimensional chess?”

~Janna Kingston, ACNS

Izzy nodded reassuringly, hoping in her welcoming manner that he would join them for the game. “If not three-dimensional chess, perhaps something else you enjoy playing?”

Delaney, Sec

Orvos stopped dead in his tracks as he heard her voice. He turned with a raised eye brow, knowing who she was.

Much to his surprise it was not one, but two women seated at the bar inquiring of him. He strolled over, setting the kit behind the for a brief moment and meeting them. “I’ve played three-dimensional chess before. Then again, I’ve played lots of games. Its typically a two player game, but if you both are looking to play a game, cards might be a good idea. Ever played poker?” A sly grin spread over his face. Not only was it fun to play in general, but to analyze and decide whether someone was bluffing or not was a thrill in itself. He had a feeling the other two might feel the same.
