Janna felt her cheeks suddenly go hot and knew how she would appear, so she surreptitiously brought up a hand and rested one cheek in her palm. It effectively hid half her face for the time being. “Uhhh, well… ” Games with Orvos. Oh Gods. Well, why the hell not?

She grinned, watching the other woman blush so readily at the idea of having the Engineer join them. She turned to look at the man who was collecting his tools and looked to be quite satisfied with a job well done. Was he the type to know three-dimensional chess?

Taking a calming breath, Janna lowered her hand having regained some composure and turned around on her barstool. “Hey, Orvos. Do you play three-dimensional chess?”

~Janna Kingston, ACNS

Izzy nodded reassuringly, hoping in her welcoming manner that he would join them for the game. “If not three-dimensional chess, perhaps something else you enjoy playing?”

Orvos stopped dead in his tracks as he heard her voice. He turned with a raised eye brow, knowing who she was.

Much to his surprise it was not one, but two women seated at the bar inquiring of him. He strolled over, setting the kit behind the for a brief moment and meeting them. “I’ve played three-dimensional chess before. Then again, I’ve played lots of games. Its typically a two player game, but if you both are looking to play a game, cards might be a good idea. Ever played poker?” A sly grin spread over his face. Not only was it fun to play in general, but to analyze and decide whether someone was bluffing or not was a thrill in itself. He had a feeling the other two might feel the same.

A grin spread across Janna’s face. “That I have. Same amounts of strategy, a little risk- my kind of game.” She chuckled. “If you ever want some entertainment, watch a group of psychologists play and try to not only read each other, but strategize around it. Hilarious…”

~Janna Kingston, ACNS

Izzy immediately brightened from her light and unassuming questioning to amusement. “Well now, I haven’t played poker in a while, but that sounds fun.” She looked from one to the other and nodded. “Why don’t you both choose a table and I will replicate the cards and get myself another refill.” It was obvious she had played before, but to what extent? That was unclear.

“One for me too,” Janna said as she slid her glass across the counter towards the bartender. Turning, she grinned at Orvos and tucked some of her chin-length blond curls behind her right ear. “So, are you a pick-a-table-with-strategy person or will you just go with it?” she asked the CE.

~Janna Kingston, ACNS

Orvos grinned. “I just go with it. After all, why reveal my strategy so early on?” he said with a chuckle as he gestured to the floor full of tables. “After you, my dear!”

Izzy lingered for a moment, telling the bartender to take his time. Then when she could no longer linger and make it seem believable, she moved to the replicator and picked two packs of cards. They were clear cards with an intricate design on the back that hid what the cards were from the other players. One set was dark evening sky blue and one was a deep emerald green. This way they could take time shuffling as they liked and if anyone joined them, they would not be overwhelmed with shuffling. She thought about replicating some poker chips and ended up replicating some. They could choose to add chips and stakes… however fake they may be. Besides, bragging rights were quite fun.

She returned to the table and delivered her goods: the drink for Janna, her own drink, the tray of chips and the two packs of cards. “I didn’t know if you wanted to play for chips so I replicated them just in case. What do you say?”

Delaney, Sec
