Benjamin nodded “Besides it would be ineffective for me to try, I’m afraid I don’t know you well enough to induce proper anger. Well let’s see” He continued lowering the temperature “I’m going to continue to make it colder, I want you at the same time to think of things that make you angry, be it embarresing memories or facts about the world that anger you. Let’s see if a small combination of two factors can induce the same responce as a major influx of either.”

Liam nodded. He then began to consider his memories. Already his anger from his earlier recollections had cooled so they provided no benefit. His attention dove deeper into the last few weeks while the temperature began to dive, the symbiote discomfort growing with the depleting heat. His teeth slightly grounded a bit in irritation at that fact.

The heat in his hands rose some more, followed by his internal temperature. However, the heat gain was reacting more to the cold than Liam’s attempts to upset himself.

“Why is this much harder than it looks?” Liam blurted out loud.

“Most likely due to your lack of emotional depth” Benjamin said in a very casual manner as if describing an illness to a patient. Although it was a clear attempt at riling the scientist up it was delivered with enough real arrogance to seem authentic “A probable result because of embarrassment for a lack of academic achievements.” He added without looking a the scientist, keeping the same neutral expression.

The heat in Liam’s hands spiked a notable degree and remained there. Meanwhile, the patient blinked. A mix of shock and surprised mingled on Liam’s expression, the reaction breaking his sober one. For a moment, he wasn’t sure how to respond to the insult.

His lips tightened before he replied.

“At least I don’t allow my emotions to override my common sense. I thought you were an intelligent person. At least smarter than to say your thoughts out loud where I can hear them…”

Liam stated while still being ignorant of Grey’s intentions.

Benjamin looked up with a disinterested expression “The expression of ones thoughts should never be kept internal and never governed by childish emotions or the outbreaks that entails” He looked at the display and nodded slightly in approval “Not that you’re at fault, it is quite common for men of above average intelligence to lack emotional maturity” the Doctor continued his arrogant display of distain. Never in his life had he felt more uncomfortablem, he was hoping that sticking to generalities and misconceptoons were enough to rile Madsion up without actually permenately spurning him.
