Marishka stepped out of her office in full diva mode. The lounge was empty except for her patient and loving staff. She had instructed them to serve lunch but said she would be taking over the stage and the place would basically be closed for an hour. Rachael, Ted, and Martha were working on a system that would have them delivering to people’s quarters when the overworked engineering staff was too busy to fix a replicator. Marishka liked that idea and tasked them with putting the finishing touches on it.

Stepping onto the stage, she began playing “Between the Shadows”. It was an ancient human instrumental piece but the name of the artist escaped her.

First she played the cello before switching tot he harp and finally an electric guitar.

Stepping away from the instruments she growled into the empty air.

“By the gods this is all wrong. Who the hell assembled this sound system? A tone deaf Ferengi?”

She paused realizing that there was no-one there to hear her frustration. Picking up a PaDD she began working on a program and would try singing in a few minutes. It seemed a shame to waste all the good work Julien had done fixing the problems with her throat on an inadequate sound system though.

Orvos had conveniently not received the memo about the lounge closing. And thus he managed to take his more stealthy route through the Jefferies Tubes to a corner on the upper tier of the lounge that was quiet and secluded. The hatch silently opened (and yes he had fixed it to be so). He exited the tube, stood up and pondered why the place was not busy.

He had managed to stroll to a place out of the way as he heard someone playing music.

Upon realizing who it was, he was somehow awestruck. She was talented for sure. He listened as Marishka got upset and he quietly made his way to a table and sat down. Curiosity simply always got the best of him. He knew wisdom told him to avoid her, especially given the effects her pheromones were having on him. But he thought, maybe it wouldn’t prove to be his undoing. Conversation was simply that, conversing. Whatever happened anyway between two adults, a lone in a lounge? Surely nothing more than talking, eating, or drinking.
Yes, it would be fine. After all, his mind kept wondering, who was this woman that Julien seemed to trust?

He kept quiet, silently waving off any approaching staff as he observed the Marishka.

Marishka was too caught up in her Diva moment to completely register Orvos’ presence. It wouldn’t have mattered anyway. She had too much on her mind, too much to fix. The stage was quiet for a moment as she paced, almost strutting, around in thought, her matte gold heels silent on the hardwood. The black leather skirt clung from hip to mid thigh as she turned, hands on hips, touching the jewel encrusted belt and pondered what to do next.

Standing to her full height, her long bare midriff exposed. Her top consisted of one long piece of sheer silk wrapped snugly and tied on the left. She still wore the red hourglass navel piercing and her long dark hair flowed.

Saying a few commands, music began to play form the sound system and she began to sing. Just bits of things she had chosen for their quality to test her range ending with… “I had a dream of a winter garden, a midnight rendezvous, silver blue in frozen twilight. What a fool I was for you.”

The music stopped and so did she. Her energy and frustration seemed to fill the room, it was only then that she noticed him.

-Marishka

Orvos was transfixed on her. She was exotic, yes. Very different. But dangerous. And then he watched as she finally realized she was not alone, much like a cat having heard a pin drop nearby.

“Something need fixing?” he asked plainly as though he had been summoned there. He was, however, very clearly not summoned as he was relaxed where he sat.

He observed closely her every move. Actions often times spoke louder than words.

Marishka stepped tot he edge of the stage close to where he sat and clasped her hands behind her back, head held high in an imperious manner.

“Hmmm. What shall we start with? Your respect for the fact that this place was closed for an hour or my incredibly sub par sound system? I can’t be a good entertainer without it you know.” she said pointedly.

She was frustrated that he was there but not exactly surprised either.

-Marishka

“If I had known it would be closed,” replied Orvos. “I would have let you be. Apparently the memo never made it before my eyes. As for your sound system, it may be an easy fix. I haven’t looked it over myself, so its anyone’s guess. Were you going to try and fix it on your own?”

His eyebrows raised in curiosity.

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

Marishka doubted that he would have stayed away but wasn’t quite certain why.

“First I was going to run it through every test I could think of which, as you could tell, I was in the middle of doing. Then, if things didn’t go well, I was going to see how big of an issue to make of it.”

Marishka walked around the stage touching each instrument as she spoke.

“This electric guitar is flat, not vibrant and strong like it should be. This cello is pale and tinny, not deep and heart stirring.”

She paused at the harp and caressed it. It was a beloved instrument she knew well.

“And this is just disappointing. It doesn’t sound like it should at all. When I listen to it I don’t hear crystal tears falling through the night into a glacial ocean. If you think you’re up to the challenge, fix it.” she said looking at him pointedly, her violet scleraed silver eyes taking in every detail.
