Main Sim - Sunset on Risa

Julien just nodded and let Stark do the talking.

OOC It feels really awkward when I’m talking to myself, I’m working on forced writers multiple personality disorder, no slur intended.
IC
Nodding begrudgingly Jayden glanced over at the room Orvos had gone into to check the readings on the weather system. “Well if any of you have some nouse we’d probably better stand ready to assist in resetting all this equipment in here. The delegates are antsy enough without seismic disruptions, a borehole, and winds storms”.

Junior Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

OOC: Ian sent me an email about what Orvos could and could not fix so I’ll just go ahead and post it.

IC: Orvos eventually came back out of the master control area with a report. “I’ve managed to adjust and stabilize the weather and seismic activity. However, I am still concerned about the sinkhole and alternating super dense masses at the planet’s core. There’s nothing we can do about those from the Master Control room. Any thoughts? Maybe our teams on the Athena have figured out the transporter issue? Maybe they’re linked?” He glanced about curious as to any comments. They clearly weren’t engineers, but thoughts were thoughts.

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

Jayden was pouring over the screen and smiling “Nice work” he said quietly, “but I agree that the core is a concern. We can’t free people to investigate that sinkhole right now but you’re welcome to give it the once over. I have to say though that I can’t guarantee your security or safety right now. You’ve arrived in the middle of something wonderful but dangerous, the first treaty talks in known history. There are plenty of people who want to see us fail. If you want to check the hole you’re under your own recognizance but it’s due north of our position towards the mountain. You can’t miss it”.

Junior Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

Stark was looking out the transparent aluminum window towards the mountain. “I’m game if you want an escort Orvos”. Turning to Jayden his dark eyes became serious. “If we run into trouble how much more trouble will we create if we put the troublemakers down?”

Jayden didn’t hesitate. “Director Rhan gave us instructions to incapacitate but not execute. The chances of there being infiltrators in the delegate teams are quite high so we were told to be on constant alert.” He turned his PaDD towards them showing a picture of Kaylee and her mother, “We know that we have at least this mother-daughter assassination team on the planet,” Before they could react he flashed to another picture, this time of Luka, “and this personal guard with the Napean delegation has raised a red flag on our background searches, she could be more than she appears. Defend yourselves if it’s necessary but I’d consider it a bonus if we don’t have to clean up any dead bodies while you’re doing it”. He raised a finger “The assassins you can kill, no extra paperwork on those two”.

Orvos raised an eyebrow at Stark and the others, not giving an iota of a hint that they personally knew their alternates. He nodded his head understanding and then turned to the team. “Well, shall we then?” he inquired as he gestured to the north. He gave a slight grin as he waited to see who was still with him in this.

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

“Investigations into strange and weird phenomena on a planet full of Romulans, Gorn, Breen, and Tholians with a side order of hunting dangerous yet familiar assassins” Stark grinned ferally as he walked with Orvos, “Unrestrained equines could not keep me away”.

Orvos gave the caitian a sidelong grin as he started north.

“Don’t go to hog wild here, this… I don’t know I don’t like it. You are a big boy but if you end up broken Ghubari will kill me.” Konral said towards Stark.

Vander, CoS

“Something tells me you’ll be safe from imminent death this time, Mr. Vander. And I’m sure likewise, if something happened to you, Stark could end up broken too. The good doctor and I may end up living to fight another day perhaps.” he said with a chuckle and grin, steps never seeing to move north.

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

There was a large crowd standing a respectable distance from the borehole in the ground and the area was effectively ringed with warning signs and a smattering of guards to keep the denizens of Risa away from danger. One of the security guards waved the team over.

“Glad you’re here Orvos” he said with a strained look, “We really need some answers about what’s going on around here, this is no ordinary borehole”. As he was speaking the people around the perimeter of the 100-metre wide hole in the ground started to talk amongst themselves animatedly and gesticulate at the group.

Julien positioned himself in a way nobody could see his right android eye directly and peered with it into the hole, zooming in in infrared.

Orvos leaned forward. “Besides its size, is there anything else not so ordinary you can share,” he said as pulled out a tricorder to get scans of it.

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

The security guard waved them through the cordon and pointed wordlessly at the hole in the ground. It went deeper than the eye could see and deeper than the tricorder could scan but the most unusual feature that was obvious to the naked eye was the spiraling staircase that ringed the borehole in precisely cut out stone steps leading forever down into darkness…

Stark looked at the start of the spiraling staircase. “Think I’d rather go wrestle a Gorn,” he said with a grimace, “The weirdness meter just went off the scale”.

OOC: Would Julien’S eye make out anything else? - Julia

OOC can it detect energy signatures?

OOC: it can see better in the dark and detect heat signatures, kind of like sniper rifles can today (infrared), but only if unobscured, not through walls like in the action movies ;)

Orvos studied the stairs briefly. “It appears that for whatever reason this is here for, someone was meant to descend its depths. Weird, after all, is part of the job.” He glanced back at the group. “I’ll go first,” he said taking a faithful step forward in curiosity. “Anyone with any commentary or questions, don’t hesitate!”

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

“Lay on,” Stark said with a grin, “Weird is part of the job as you say”.

Stark Nightstalker CIO

Still peering down Julien said “I’ll come with, climbing is my hobby, and fall injuries are fun to heal.” he said dryly.
