Whenever a department head and/or Captain was informed of any situation in Sickbay it was also time to wake the Chief Medical Officer, this was the second time in the short time he’d served on the Athen that he’d been disturbed during his nightcap and once again he forwent the time-consuming ritual of getting dressed into his uniform and simply grabbed one of his multiple white coats and ran out. For some reason getting the message to him took longer, no doubt due to the extraordinary circumstances of the case at hand. On the way, he read a PaDD with the relevant information.

As the alarms started ringing the doors swooshed open revealing the tall thin Doctor. He took a moment to scan the room with intense green eyes before moving in “I thought I said no pomp necessary every time I enter a bloody room” He said without smiling. He half jogged to the scene, reading over the information “Good work Doctor Niles, This is your patient so prescribe what is necessary but I think we’ll need to cut him open and put him on emergency dialysis, we don’t want to start replacing body parts until we know what’s going on. ” He said starting work quickly before even looking towards the Captain and CSO “Any ideas on that front Madison?” He asked as he started prepping allowing Karina to take care of medicating and holding the Patient.

Dr. Grey - CMO

Karina had been listening with part attention as the science Chief and CO spoke. Thankfully the explanation was accepted and she kept concentrating on the patient.

As the Medical Chief walked in, she cursed under her breath. She’s been so consumed by the event that it hasn’t occurred to her to call Grey. She did as he said, without question, a murmured apology for not calling him spoken just loud enough for him to hear. She’s take her licks for it later, but preferred not to let the captain and Chief know she’d been so remiss.

Benjamin simply nodded in understanding, wanting to go immidiately to work.

With dialysis started and the computer programmed to monitor all other major functions, she shook her head and looked at the Doc. “I don’t understand. It’s like he ate a replicator program or is somehow managing to phase ‘just’ his stomach in and out so it constantly appears with the matter in that same spot.” She knew that neither choice was feasible, but it was all she could think of.

Liam gritted his teeth when he spotted the evidence, then exhaled. His attention whipped back to the CO who seemed more confused by his statement rather than understanding. It was expected since he didn’t fully think about his words because of his lack of sleep.

“Another set of matter, identical to the patient’s sundae dessert earlier, is appearing in the gut. We have no idea of the origins or how to stop it.”

Just as Liam finished, the alarms went off. He cursed under his breath as he began a series of tests. His first goal was to try and trace the origins of the strange energy signature. The next one was attempting to nullifying or blocking the energy appearing in the officer. Finally, he wanted to see if any notable differences happened when molecules were added or subtracted. He hoped he could make the medical staff’s job easier by hinting what might happen.

” Each time something happens, there’s an energy signature in the affected location. it’s radiating off the protein molecules. Until I can figure out the source or how to stop it, see if you can deal with the damage best you can,” Liam said as he waited for more data.

“Do you think it has anything to do with our being in this Universe? I don’t recall hearing anything similar from previous incidents, but they have been relatively few that it’s not a lot of data to work with,” Ghubari mused aloud.

Fl. Captain Koraia, CO

Ceres was blissfully unconscious during all that was eventuating although his blood work was starting to show contamination from the stress on his body. The computer came back with a match. The energy signature matched the signature used when transporting from the Athena’s universe to the Mirror Universe and back again. The recommended course of action was transport inhibitors.

Benjamin continued preparing for surgery. He was examing scans of the man’s body but without understanding what was going on there was little he was capable of doing. He simply had the nurses bring out the sanitizing unit and surgical gowns for him and Doctor Karinna.

Dr. Grey - CMO

Liam had been about to answer when his eyes spotted the energy signature. He sighed then revealed his findings.

“The energy signature matches the signature when we entered the Mirror Universe. I would say that is a confirmed yes,” Liam replied to the CO, then turned to Grey and his nurse.

“The patient’s blood work is showing contamination from the stress. If we can apply a transport inhibitor, it might stop the effects.” already he was pulling up blueprints for the thing. He would likely need to contact an engineer to assist him in crafting the machine.

“Mirror universe? But how is it isolated to just him?” She didn’t exactly glance back, but she tilted her head in the Captain’s direction. “Sir, I recommend immediate crew count. This one made it to medical. But if anyone else didn’t…” she let the thought trail off.

Murmuring under her breath, she shook her head as she took a half second to slip into the surgical gown held up for her. “I can’t hope we’re lucky enough to have this as the only case… “

Ghubari frowned but nodded before tapping her combadge. =/\=Koraia to Bridge. Do an immediate count of the crew and notify of me of any anomalies.=/\=

“I also suggest we do a ship-wide scan for this energy signal. It might also affect objects, not only living things,” Liam pointed out, unsure of the effects.

He shuddered inside at the damage and effects an afflicted object might cause. His attention returned to the sample. While he hoped someone else wasn’t afflicted, he needed another sample. It was the only way to narrow down how and why this officer was being affected. Until then, he tried his best to find any sort of clue.

“I can’t narrow down the causes without another afflicted subject. There are too many variables,” Liam stated with a hint of frustration in his voice.
