Konral looked at her closely, he was piqued by the request as he leaned in and kissed her cheek. Okay, we can go in the back. he said to her as he slowed the dancing down and began to lead the pair away. There was a lot that had occured in the previous months, Konral spun his head wondering what the topic could be on. Work? Pleasure? Both? He wasn’t certain but he trusted his wife as he got them away from the crowd mostly unseen.

Let’s head to Arboretum 3. No one will bug us there.

Okay, I think we are clear as we are going to be… what is it Rain? he asked her as they settled into the secluded area.

Nestled against the greenery of the space, Ghubari inhaled deeply and closed her eyes as she sent her thoughts to her husband. We have some new additions to the crew, that as Chief of Security you should know about. I’m telling you as the Chief, and not as my husband, because this is work related and I don’t want you thinking my secrecy is anything personal, she said, opening her eyes to gaze at him. You’d see through me anyway, she added with a tiny smirk before becoming more serious.

Okay, now my interest is piqued. Konral said, this was not what he really had expected. He couldn’t deny a sense of wonder in just who was here to begin with. Who is the person in question?

*I have enlisted the help of a friend of mine that I’ve known since just after my accident. He’s a fellow captain on leave and had spent some time doing special operations. He along with our new bartender are on this ship undercover. Their official records will not show any of this. But they are here to help me figure out The Conclave situation and bring Israel Price to justice for Kallen’s death. Accidental or no, it’s an affront to every oath we swore as Starfleet officers to just let him and them get away with this. They are playing a dangerous game and Command has agreed to give me leeway to pursue the situation as I see fit. Officially, this mission doesn’t exist and it’s secondary to any current orders or assignment the Athena is on.”

I didn’t know Starfleet felt the same in this regard. I know we all want some pay back but… Konral took a deep breath as he thought on the words. He was glad they were allowing them to pursue this, even if it was a secondary goal. I just want to make sure these two have more than just a mission in mind. I won’t allow anyone to compromise the security of this ship even if it’s for a noble cause.

Vander, CoS

I don’t intend to let anyone do that, she reassured. And this isn’t so much payback, but doing our best to negate a threat. Normally, they’d just send in a team, or an agent and call it a day, but Price was Starfleet. And he has this strange connection to my past. I know Command is simply indulging me, but they owe me so I’ll take it right now. Kallen deserved better and if we can help take down The Conclave, then that’s what we’re going to do.

But here’s the hard part for you, Ral. I need you to do nothing. Pretend nothing is going on and ignore anything we’re doing that seems in anyway odd, if we happen to tip our hand. We need this to stay under the radar, and the Chief of Security can’t be seen poking about. Can you do that?

Fl. Captain Koraia, CO

I can do that, it isn’t my first time keeping secrets on this ship. We seem to be having far more than your average ship of secrets. Konral said, the Athena seemed to always be in the front of everything the fleet could throw at them.

Vander, CoS
