Liam barely caught Ben’s mention of another Kaylee on board causing the CSO to speak.

“The Captain and security will handle it. I’m applying the information into the stasis field which should be in effect shortly,” he said.

Karina frowned. “All over the ship…”

The muttered words repeated, half whispered, over and over as she and the Doc tried to get ahead of the anomaly before them. She’d heard the Captain’s departure, but since it wasn’t her particular concern, she’d merely acknowledged that the CO was no longer present.

As she tried to imagine how to get a handle on things, a small hysterical giggle feel from her lips. “I wonder if we can use a transport inhibitor on the whole entire ship? Like a giant EMP or something that only affects the anomalies.”

It was a ludicrous and outlandish idea in her mind. But her science knowledge was limited to humanities, not circuitry. If such a thing existed, she couldn’t fathom it and want even trying.

“It could be possible, but it also fills the transporter system. I’m a bit worried about the effects that could have. Best way to do this is to run some simulations while we’re getting the patient stable and healed.”

As Liam waited for the results, he added, “I would need to contact Engineering if there’s positive results.”

As the modified stasis field started to act as a transport inhibitor the matter appearing in Ensign Ceres body also stopped appearing. There was still a great deal of internal matter still there that needed to be excised but for now the danger to his life was no longer imminent.

Ben half-smiled at the readings “Great work Madison” He said with the laserscalpel in hand “Ok now we simply need to open him up and remove the excess material” He said before checking that the patient was properly sedated. He then began the surgery, cutting an opening towards the stomach where the majority of the growths were situated.

OOC: Just making this transition for Ian. I’m sure he’ll toss you more fun, but the explosion itself should create some more fun for you. Or not. :P
IC:
Unfortunately for the medical team, the explosion in the conference room rocked the ship hard.

Within minutes, casualties began showing up, including Janna, who was helping a crewmember who had a limp in their left leg and was wincing pretty bad.

~Janna Kingston, ACNS

Liam had been about to smile at the praise when the ship rumbled. He braced his head with his arms when he slammed into the floor. After the explosion appeared to die down, he opened his eyes to look around. Still disorientated from the change in balance, Liam shook his head to clear it. He began to pull himself upright.

Bad things often happened in threes. They were down two now and he couldn’t help but wonder what else was about to come.

He discarded the thought when he spotted the first causalities walk in. His arm moved to help Janna support her fellow and ease some weight off her.

“This is going to be an interesting day,” he couldn’t help but mutter under his breath.

The power fluctuated but only briefly and thankfully not long enough to put Ceres in further danger. One young woman staggered in after Janna with burns on her upper body. She was muttering to herself “Phaser fire, from nowhere, shuttlebay, vacuum”. She collapsed on the floor.

Doing surgeries on a Starship was no easy feat, especially during dangerous situations such as that exact moment. Benjamin’s instincts were on the spot when he turned of the lethal instrument in his hand when the explosion occurred narrowly avoiding gutting his patient. Turning around his training kicked in immediately. “Nurse, autosuture the Patient, keep him under the field and monitor his status” He ordered quickly removing the surgical gown and moved to the side to grab a Medical Kit

“Niles, assist Miss Kingston with her patient” He when the third woman entered the room. Cursing he ran towards her and opened the pack, grabbing the Tricorder and flipping it open and started a general scan.

The patient that Janna had brought in was suffering from the rapid decompression of the shuttlebay as was the woman who had fallen to the ground but she also had a dislocated shoulder and a broken ulna from being thrown about by the explosion. Many more were coming in now some of which had been snatched from the jaws of death by quick-thinking engineers and security.

One ensign had tears in his eyes as he deposited a deathly still officer onto a nearby biobed. “No transporters,” he said sorrowfully, “we couldn’t get them all back in, we used shuttles with grapples but it was too slow”.
