The doors to the Ensign’s quarters slid closed behind him as he entered and walked to the middle of the room. Standing there for a moment he took a deep breath in. The room didn’t have any particular smell to it, nor did he expect it to, but it was the first of many new things to sense and experience aboard the Ship.After taking in his surrounds for another few moments Dayner walked over to his bed and gently placed his bag down on it. He didn’t carry many personal affects with him, but the items that he had brought were the things most treasured by him. These objects alway managed to ease the anxiety and loneliness that often manifests itself when you are away from home, missing the ones you love and have a longing for that feeling of familiarity.
However, now was not the time for sentimentality, there was much to be done! There would be plenty of time for unpacking and home making later on, so that could wait.
Dayner exited his room and began to make his way through the vessel towards Sickbay, trying his best to act with an air of decorum and avoid looking like a child in a toy store. There was no denying that Dayner was excited about his first post-accademy posting, and in eager anticipation of joining the crew he had read up on as much about the Ship as he could.After a brisk journey through the ship he found himself in Sickbay. Now there was a familiar smell - that of a Medical environment. Unfortunately he had grown to know the smell quite well. Unlike some, Dayner never resented visiting the Sickbay to check-in, he had always found Hospitals and the people who work in them very fascinating.
He tried to attract the attention of someone whilst trying his utmost not to get in the way of the work that was going around him.

A voice spoke from about six inches behind his left shoulder. “Greetings Dayner Ruuk and welcome to the Athena”.
Stepping to the side and forward was a jet black Caitian with eyes to match, the only color on his body was from a white furred scar above one eye. He nodded slightly in acknowledgement of the newcomer.

The voice had taken Dayner slightly off guard. He turned around to face it.
“Thank you” He said kindly. “You seem to have me at a disadvantage” Dayner said in reference to the Caitian already knowing his name.
“I’m just looking for a Doctor so I can get myself checked in.” Dayner didn’t really need to explain himself to the stranger, but he felt that he should to shed some light on why he was randomly standing in Sickbay.Ensign Dayner Ruuk - Scientist
“Stark Nightstalker,” the Caitian said with a slight nod of his head to finish the introduction. “I’m sure the doctor will be along presently”. The dark visage tipped to one side slightly in a gesture of curiosity, “I haven’t met many Angosians before” he said with a toothy grin.

“This is becoming a habit Stark” A dry Scottish voice came from around the corner. A tall thin man in a blue doctor’s uniform and a white lab coat walked over, a small woman took a PaDD he held in his hand, tapping something down on it “It’s actually quite convenient, every time I smell ye enter the room I know there’s a new patient here” He turned to the Angosian “I’m Doctor Benjamin Grey, this is my Sickbay, He doesn’t work if you hadn’t noticed.”

Stark grinned openly at the CMO, eyes glinting in the overhead lighting. “I always aim to be helpful, doctor,” he said with a straight face “people have such expectations of me it’s all I can do to keep up these days”.

“Thank you, Dr. Grey” Dayner said as he glanced once more at Stark with a slight look of uncertainty. “It’s been a pleasure to meet you Mr. Nightstalker” He said before turning to the Doctor. “Dr. Grey, I’m Ensign Dayner Ruuk - a new Scientist aboard the Athena. I’d like to report for my boarding physical.”
