“No, no, no. I don’t want to change the appearance of this room, or anything in it. You’ve done such a glorious job of helping me with it I wouldn’t dream of changing the appearance of our collaboration. It’s the acoustics that must change. Whether that means adding materials, removing materials, the creative use of force fields perhaps, or, and this is just me thinking out loud, a completely new sound system.”

A new sound system? That would certainly take some time, but perhaps doable. But he couldn’t be the one to do it. No, he would find someone else to be here for the install. The less he was left alone with her, the better.

Marishka had walked to stand beside him making no sound as she did so this time.

“Do you understand what I’m trying to get at now?” she said right next to his shoulder, her warm breath caressing his ear as she spoke.

  • Marishka

The hairs on the back of his neck stood on end and he could feel goosebumps all over his arms. He hadn’t heard her move. She couldn’t be some simple bar owner on a large Starfleet vessel. This woman was something more. But what? And why did she need to have this effect on him? Was it on purpose? Or was it some natural effect to her lineage? He stood still, unsure of what his next move ought to be.

“Perhaps,” was all he could say as his eyes stayed glued away from her. His mind raced to determine the next course. A woman like this was likely used to having the upper hand. What could he do to draw the line? He was by no means a man easily swayed by a pretty woman. But the effect she was having on him made things…difficult.

A woman like this would likely not exercise her persuasive abilities if challenged. She would react. And he was now curious as to how she would react to a multitude of things. There was something she was hiding for sure. Or was she simply toying with him, sensing his reactions?

He suddenly turned his eyes to her, mere inches from her face and simply studied her, curiosity displayed on his features.

Marishka let him stare, her silver eyes twinkling. The scent of lavender emanated from her skin. It was a new scent she was trying and was very happy with it. It would be easy for Marishka to sit this man down and explain exactly who she was, what certain people on the ship meant to her, and why she was there. But this was so much more entertaining.

“Perhaps what? Perhaps you’re not the man for the job? Such a pity. I need so much work done and you’ve been so good to me all along.” she purred.

  • Marishka

Orvos eyed the woman more, her lavender scent was strangely calming. That is until she spoke up. “Hold on you, I never said such a thing. I’m every bit the man you need! Do you somehow doubt that?” he asked curiously, prepared for a rebuttal depending on her next words. Though to be fair, he hadn’t yet taken into effect any actions she would take.

Even though Marishka took a half step back, her presence did not diminish as she held hid gaze. She kept it for a few seconds, reached up with her right hand, and flicked the long strands of dark hair back over her shoulder to reveal completely bare shoulders and the opal on a delicate chain at her throat.

“Prove it.” she whispered softly.

  • Marishka

Orvos blinked, flabbergasted at the turn of events. How was he supposed to resist a woman who struck such strong primal chords with him? How had their conversation turned to such a tempting premise? This woman was trouble. Oh boy was she trouble. Giving in to temptation would surely not go well for either party.

He could have been blunt and asked the very direct question that bugged him. However, he opted to resist with some dignity, relying on wisdom and his own revelations through his life.

Orvos took a step back and asked. “And what exactly do you believe the measure of a man to be?” His gaze held her own, unwavering. He would not give ground…he hoped.
