=/\=Sounds like a plan. Keep me apprised. And while you’re at it, we had Lieutenant Delaney beamed out with our intruder. I want you to try and see if you can track down where the transporter signal originated from. Let the bridge know as soon as you find anything. Koraia out.=/\=

bump

R’han made a face. =^=Captain, I have a mirror Barkley who claims he has the wherewithal to assist in our apprehension of the mirror Baxter.=^= He paused to get his mirrors in alignment. =^=But he needs to come on board first.=^= there was a suspicious tone in R’han’s voice. His normal level of suspicion… which was good, but it was tinged with a tone of annoyance which was bad, but only bad in such it meant that Barkly had a good chance of getting phasered for any aggravation his caused.

R’han

=/\=Really? Is that so. Well, given that we need people to help us navigate things here, I’m not entirely opposed, but I’m armed and have backup. So, I’ll allow it, but I’ll meet this person myself, provided our transporters or working. That or a shuttle. Just tell me where and give us 5 mins.=/\=

Fl. Captain Koraia, CO

=^=Well, Mr. Barkley you have been cleared to come aboard. Give me you identification codes and I’ll grant you access.=^=

=^=Security, can I have two officers to my location please.=^= R’han’s please tone should be concerning enough without him impressing on them the need to move quickly and send good men/women.

Bump for Liam

Liam nodded, the frown still growing on his face. This was the first time he heard of an intruder in their midst. This explained some things right now, but he didn’t dwell on it long. When his figure entered the labs, he walked to the nearest console. He immediately checked the transporter logs for the pattern buffer. A thought, on route, occurred to him. Transporter accidents often happened due to malfunctioning buffers. Victims were often missing or gained anatomy or substances. In simple terms, it was degrading the original transcript for the person’s make up. It might tell him when things went wrong or help narrow his search.

The next task was tracking the signal mentioned by the CO. He wasn’t going to wait for his junior officer’s arrival. Time was precious as he wrapped up the research.

The transport buffer of the ship’s transporter systems was receiving signals from outside the ship from no known source. Work being completed in Transporter Room One seemed to suggest that the matter stream was coming from “outside” the mirror universe itself.

The transporter residual energy from the intruder’s position could be traced from the conference room to the shuttle bay. It was initiated from within the shuttle bay but disappeared into a cloaking field and then vanished. It had not been initiated by any of the Athena’s systems.

Junior Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

Liam’s eyes flicked through the incoming data. His suspicions about the buffer appeared to be correct, but the source surprised him. While a hard reset on the buffer would fix its issues, the second matter stream would moot the solution. This meant the inhibitors were necessary until they could deal with the extra stream. A simple signal booster might be worth looking. Including setting up inhibitors at different sections in the ship to ensure total coverage.

Putting the puzzling findings aside, he moved onto the intruder. The target made it into the shuttle bay and vanished. His hand pressed his badge comm to inform the CO then contact Engineering.

=^= Madison to Captain. I traced the residual energy from the conference room to the shuttle bay. It was initiated from there, but it disappeared into a cloaking field and vanished. It wasn’t done by the Athena’s systems. =^=

He left his theories at the door for now and turned to Engineering.

=^=Madison to Engineering. I discovered an inhibitor can stop the effects of the transporter systems. However, they have limited range. They will need a signal boost or another option to expand it to the whole ship.=^=
