It was with that flash the Benjamin realized his mistake. He looked quickly over to Ceres and cursed =^=Sickbay to Commander Madison, how long til we have a functioning field around the ship? And how easy is it to set one up over another Biobed=^= He didn’t stop working as he spoke. He removed the secondary eye and placed it on a platter the Nurse handed him, taking care when separating it from the actual eye. He then started carefully cutting the nerve endings of the eye so he could work in the socket without permenantly damaging or remvoing the possibility of putting it back there. later

Dr. Grey - CMO

The eye that had been removed continued to take form in little flashes of light. Ceres awoke briefly, saw it there, muttered something incoherent and then passed out again. A nurse suddenly started to shake uncontrollably holding up a hand where quite plainly the end of her finger was starting to dematerialise.

“We need to figure out localized inhibitors, NOW,” Karina growled. She made sure the doctor was ok and took a heartbeat to send the nurse over to Ceres. “See if proximity to his inhibitor field helps any!” The idea in her mind being that the girls around the unconscious patient’s bed might save the nurse’s hand.

She was caught between helping Dr. Grey Ann’s keeping half an eye on the nurse.

The nurse didn’t need to be told twice and plunged her hand into the field which instantly stopped the process. Another nurse quickly stemmed the bleeding that started to occur after the process was stopped. Ceres looked up from the bed and his eyes were a little wild as were the nurses who seemed extremely reluctant to remove her hand from the field and was now looking all over her body for evidence that everything else was still where it should be. Ceres unconsciously took her wrist in his hand and nodded at her encouragingly, she smiled in return.

Meanwhile, Niles was still on the biobed, down to one eye as it should be but possibly going to lose it due to the pressure damage he had endured.

=^= Madison to Sickbay. I’m still waiting for Engineering to make progress on it. Meanwhile, I’m sending directions on how to set up the inhibitor I used on the biobed.=^=

A pause before Madison continued. =^=There’s one thing we can attempt. You can hook on a signal booster to extend the signal and cover all of the Sickbay areas. It’s worth a try and if it does work, it might buy you time until the engineers can engulf the ship.=^=

In moments following the message, specs for both the inhibitor and a signal booster were sent to the sickbay console.

–CSO, Liam J. Madison, Sci

Ben looked at the specs and took a moment to read through them then went to work immediately on the inhibitor “Doctor Karina, see if you can get this signal booster active, I’m going to set this inhibitor thing on this biobed then join you” Although this wasn’t his main area he knew the Sickbay’s systems well enough to work something with adequate instructions.

=/\= Baxter to Kingston. Please meet me in the shuttle bay for an away mission. =/\=

Janna nodded to no one in particular. “Guess that’s my cue,” she said, a bit regretful she couldn’t stay to help, but also immensely curious about what it was she was needed for.

The signal booster hooked into the sickbay systems including holodeck systems and created a transporter inhibitor effect throughout. The removed eye stopped growing on the dish. Ceres had been watching it with sick fascination written all over his face. “I will NEVER eat a chocolate sundae again! Some things cannot be unseen”. He looked at Karina and Ben, “How’s Niles doing? Did you manage to save his eye” he glanced at the dish, ‘I mean did you save the right one, I mean…” He stopped talking and laid back but his lips were still moving as he tried to make sense of everything he’d just seen. He kept glancing at his stomach as if something was going to move in there.

Benjamin suppressed a morbid smile Technically they’re both the ‘right’ eye He thought to himself “I just need to repair some damage from the pressure. The human eye socket isn’t exactly designed for two eyes” He said returning to his earlier repair job. Now all he had to do was repair the damage and put the eye back in then bandage the area. “Karina, please finish up Mr. Ceres there. It should be a much easier now that his dessert isn’t trying to kill him”

Dr. Grey - CMO

Ceres stomach gave a gurgle and he visibly started. “Are you sure?” he said looking a little wild. Nile’s eye was coming along nicely but reports were coming in from around the ship that incidents were starting to happen in ever-increasing frequency”.
