Stark looked at Julien and Konral and then back at the pool of lava surrounding the platform they were standing on. He started walking towards the raised dais in the centre aware of the sound of footsteps running down the stairs above him. “This is surreal,” he said to no-one in particular.

Stark stepped up onto the raised platform and looked more closely at the dais.

As he stepped up onto the platform there was the sound of hurried feet running down the stairs as the Memory Omega agents realised they were arriving late to the party. Responding to Stark’s weight on the platform, within the dais, a hexagon slide shot back into the recesses of the plinth and an ornate wooden box rose up through the middle of it. The shape was unmistakable. It was the receptacle of one of the Orbs of the Prophets.

“You know… sometimes… this job still surprises me…” Konral said as he looked over at Stark raising his eyebrows slightly in a sign of both amazement and bewilderment. This was in many ways unlike anything he had ever seen or heard of.

Vander, CoS

Stark looked at Konral and nodded slowly his own eyes wide. He couldn’t help himself and even if he could have, he wouldn’t have. He reached over and opened the box…

Slowly, inexorably the doors opened… inside the box was… nothing.

Kallen jumped up on the platform next to Stark and shouldered him aside.

She ran her fingers through her hair in frustration and despair. “Damn, damn, damn, too late!”

Junior Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

“Too late for what?” Stark said looking through the box for clues, “Are you telling me that whatever was in here has been stolen?”

Kallen tried to speak but couldn’t get anything out, the words just wouldn’t come. K’Ehleyr put a hand on the Caitian’s shoulder. “Legend tells of a Mirror Orb, an Orb created by the Prophets with a singular goal, to take the accident that created the Mirror Realm and keep it separate. The Legend also says that if anything were to happen to it, the walls between the realms would fail and they would become one again and in so doing both would be destroyed…”

Junior Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

“Okay… well let’s be very careful to not let that happen then.” Konral said, it may have sound as if he was trying to joke but he was from him the case. He was tired of all the stuff they had lately.

Vander, CoS

Kallen looked at him and her expression grew even more serious. “I don’t think you quite understand, Due to its position in the mirrorverse we’ve often speculated that if the legend was true then the Orb would be here. This box confirms it and if the orb was here then the rest of the legend may be true and if that is the case then the reports coming in from ships in this quadrant may point to a destabilisation of the forces keeping our galaxies apart. We have to find the orb and put it back!”.

As she was speaking K’Ehleyr was tapping out a message on a wrist communicator.

Junior Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

Stark snapped off a communication of his own. =/\= Stark to the Captain. We’ve just discovered a missing Bajoran Orb down here on Risa. If our intel is correct it’s a vessel for the Prophets to keep this universe and our universe apart. If it’s not returned to the proper place then apparently they’re going to merge into one universe which from all accounts is going to be disastrous for both =/\=

Stark Nightstalker CIO

/\=Why Stark, of course, What else would it be?=/\= she said dryly. =/\=Do we know where we’re supposed to be taking it? Oh! And several people are joining you on the surface. We’re taking off here, so you’ll have to hold the fort, as it were.=/\=

Fl. Captain Koraia, CO

Stark snapped off a quick reply =/\= There’s some kind of receptacle here where it used to be housed, I’m betting this is where we need to put it back. next time the Prophets decide to invade your waking moments how about getting them to give us an instruction manual! Good hunting! =/\=

As the shuttle doors opened, Kaylee cautiously followed Eddington, still a little unsettled by the fact that her mirror counterpart was such a dark figure. She took some solace in the fact that that identity was for the most part a secret.

Stepping down the ramp, Kaylee looked around at her surroundings and raised her eyebrows towards Janna as if to say ‘Here we go’

OOC Note to all, you’re not aware that the two Orvos’ have switched places yet.

Orvos was standing at the base of the ramp waving in Stark and the others including Kallen and K’Ehleyr. He spoke quietly but succinctly, “All the delegates are in the main hall. It was already set up with transporter inhibitors so I’d strongly suggest we get there as soon as possible to avoid… incident”.

Kingston met Kaylee’s gaze with determination. But her attention shifted immediately to the carbon copy of her predecessor. Okay, this was going to be weird. “What the situation in there exactly?” she asked.

Orvos looked at them all. “All the delegations are housed in the main hall but they’re also accusing everyone and everything for causing this mess. the talks hang on a thread and the thread has a name. The Athena is foremost in the conspiracy, they think you’re complicit. Taking you in there, especially Kaylee is going to ignite a powder keg and that’s exactly what we want”.

Eddington spoke up in consternation, “What are you talking about? Are you insane?”

Kallen put a hand on his shoulder. “This is not Athena’s Orvos, it’s ours.”

Eddington reeled back a little and R’han nodded, “She’s right, this man has a scar on the back of his left hand, I know it’s him because I gave it to him years ago”.

Orvos nodded, “Memory Omega has been playing a long con for the last thirteen years and we’re about to spring the trap that will expose a conspiracy that threatens the alliance. We need Kaylee in there not just as a diplomat but simply because it’s going to rattle the delegation that is working with the Cardassians to try and destroy this peace process. I wish I could give you more information and I know this isn’t your fight. If you want, get back into that shuttle and leave us to it. Your arrival has been broadcast to the assembly so the effect is already in motion. There is no need for you to endanger yourselves further.”

Orvos smiled “However, your Orvos told me in no uncertain terms that you people don’t back down from a fight. He proved that by voluntarily stowing away on the vessel that’s headed to Rura Penthe as we speak.” Taking a swift glance around the group he shrugged “Are you in or out? Drinks are on me either way”

Junior Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

“I am game… I guess…” Konral said as he looked over at Stark. He wasn’t sure what they had to loose but this was going to get them closer to their quest and they needed something to work with.

Vander, CoS

“I’m in,” Stark said as if he was stating the obvious, He turned to Kaylee, “We’ve got your back, shall we go play with frozen mercenaries, gaseous bigots and big lizardy things and change the fate of yet another universe… please”.
