Orvos had arrived at in the lounge to fix more equipment Marishka had managed to find something wrong with. While a part of him desperately wanted to send other engineers in his stead, he knew the effect she would likely have on some of the other engineers. Best thing for him to do was to contain her influence to the lounge and leave the heart of the ship alone.

While he couldn’t deny a certain type of attraction to the damsel, there was a part of him that was exceptionally curious. The woman was intelligent, far too smart to be a simple lounge host. What was her story? She hid it well, and avoided most of it whenever he began dabbling.

In any case, he was in the lounge. However he was not alone. Like any smart man in the midst of what could end up being a problematic situation, he decided to have some company he trusted.

Stark Nightstalker had once been an acquaintance, however Orvos now considered him a good friend and ally. He had told Stark the time he planned to arrive. No need to make it evident to Marishka he had sought out a chaperone. It also helped that Stark was married. Less likely for him to fall hard for her femininely whiles. He knew temptation was something that effected all, but having the reminder of what was still sitting back home nearly always helped matters. Unfortunately for Orvos, home was the ground he stood on. He made it a point to keep to himself, but as of late, that was near impossible.

He glanced about for Marishka. Stark would of course make his entrance in due time. As long as the man wasn’t late, he would fine.

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

One of Marishka’s staff had seen Orvos enter and made her way towards him with a glass of water. Rachael had been watching the security feed in the kitchen from earlier and probably should have given him a drink.

“If you’re looking for my boss, she’s at the piano. Can I get you something?” she asked kindly.

Through the dull murmur of other conversation and kitchen staff going about their work, the beautiful piano could be heard playing a simple lovely tune.

  • Marishka

Orvos relaxed a bit as the piano played a pleasant melody. “Actually yes, I could probably use some food. What was on the menu this evening?” he asked the lady server as he started to make his way to one of the barstools out of the way for the time being. Best to eat something quick while he waited for Stark to appear.

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

Rachael walked with Orvos to the stool he had selected. She knew that wouldn’t keep him from being noticed by Marishka for very long, if Marishka chose to notice him at all.

“Anything you like, give us a challenge. If I can’t make it, I’ll replicate it. Most people never know the difference. Although, personally, I think we have some excellent pasta selections this evening.”

Rachael paused and waited for Orvos to decide. She wondered if she should serve his meal with a side of boxing gloves and a stiff drink.

  • Marishka/Rachael

Stark strode in wearing his customary offduty black leather. Seeing Orvos he made his way over skillfully slipping between others as if the very need to get somewhere was a chance to test his skills.

As Stark made his way to him, Orvos replied to Rachael. “There’s a dish in the replicator. Few know of it, due to my keeping it secret. Its Legen Snackeroo 16. I’ll just take that for now. Don’t need anything extravagant, just something to tide me over while I get some repairs done here. I’ll also take a Classic Jack n Coke. No synthehol. The real stuff.”

Orvos was not technically on duty. He had decided to save whatever Marishka needed for off time hours. Better that way since the ship was his ultimate priority and she had asked for extensive help since she arrived.

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

Rachael did know what Orvos was talking about but hoped he’d be a little more daring in his food choices. She and the kitchen staff had developed quite a fondness for the lounge and wanted to see it do well.

“Coming right up and I’m sure she’ll be here soon.” she said turning away.

  • Rachael/Marishka

Stark slipped into a seat next to Orvos and raised an eyebrow making his white scar dance. “You seem to be spending an awful lot of time here my friend,” he said his eyes glimmering with amusement, “I’ve seen you take on odds far worse than this and come out the victor but somehow I think the unmoveable object has finally run into the unstoppable force. I for one am thoroughly enjoying watching the drama play out”.

As if on cue Marishka made her way through the crowd with Orvos’ food and drink order. Seeing Stark, she smiled and her silver eyes seemed to dance.

“Good evening my Engineer. Trust me, the spirits have not been replicated.” she said setting his order down before addressing stark.

“What a pleasure to see you again. Will you be joining us for dinner or whatever this turns into?” she asked with a raised eyebrow.

  • Marishka

Orvos took a sip of his beverage, the feeling of whiskey on his tongue a welcome sensation. He then quickly turned to Stark for his reply.

Stark laughed out loud at that, something he rarely did. “Your economy of language and extended meaning are an art form,” he said with a small bow never taking his eyes from hers. “But I consider myself a spectator in the proceedings or at the most” he paused and grinned ferally “A referee and bookie rolled into one”.

Orvos’s eyes narrowed on the pair. “You’re not a referee and nothing will be happening after dinner except my own work in repairing this lounge. You both are welcome to join me for dinner, however once I’m on repairs, let me do my work.” He then turned to Marishka specifically. “Otherwise I most certainly will send another engineer to take care of all this, and most assuredly I tell you if the work isn’t perfectly done you can take it up with upper management.”

Oh yes, Orvos was prepared. Perhaps Stark would distract her enough to allow him to start the work and disappear. That would be a miracle, though something told him it likely wouldn’t happen so perfectly.

He then turned back to his meal. “Well, are you going to eat or not?” he asked aloud as he snagged a bit of the El Aurian snack he had prepared secretly in the replicator systems for his own enjoyment.

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

Stark calmly intoned, “15, love to Orvos.”

Marishka secretly thought Orvos was quite funny at that moment. It was like he was preparing for a battle that may, or may not ever, materialize. She knew Stark would enjoy the show no matter what it turned into because he knew more about her. Both of them actually.

As Marishka was settling herself, one of the kitchen staff appeared with a meal for their hostess. She had ordered a stir fry of several different meats, veg, and noodles. Smiling, she thanked the server silently and picked up the chop sticks.

“Martha, bring the Commander whatever he likes.” she said turning back to the two men.

“Upper management… Hmmm. Well, after the Captain and I finally figure out what to name this place, I’ll be throwing another party. Is that what you meant by upper management my Engineer?” she asked calmly.

“Don’t let him bother you Commander. He’s afraid to be alone with me. I mean if we’re calling it all out, let’s just call it all out.” she said with a shrug.

During the long pause that followed, she began twirling and balancing the chop sticks on her long nails.

“I’m sorry. Work, play, business, pleasure. I guess I’m just no good a balancing them.” she explained.

  • Marishka

“Well Orvos is one up on me already,” Stark said with a wicked grin “I’m afraid to be with you in public, let alone in private”. His eyes narrowed, “and just when was it when the two of you were alone…?”

“Earlier I had the place closed to check out the acoustics and, somehow, he skulked in like Actaeon watching Artemis bathe. That reminds me, I should put more wild game on the menu.”

  • Marishka

Stark’s eyebrow shot up so high it nearly went into orbit. He turned to Orvos with a pointed look knowing that an acerbic reply would be quick in coming.

“Wild game would be nice,” he said licking his lips, “and a place to hunt it” he added with a smile then quickly added, “No double entendre intended there”.
