She picked up a samosa and held the triangular pastry in her fingertips as she leaned back. Taking a bite, Ghubari felt instantly transported to the restaurant of her mother’s friend. The soft potatoes and peas, the heady spices and mouth tingling heat- all seemed to calm her. It was funny to her that the spicier the food, the more relaxing she found eating it, but she guessed this had to do with the echo of how her life seemed to flow. “Do you think it’ll last?” she asked, looking over at him. “My parents, I mean. After all, it’s a cliched dream for only children who grew up with one parent, but there seemed to be quite the spark there. And… I guess i like the idea that she’s not alone, that it’s not just on me to make sure she is okay.”

“Well… they had something at one time… long ago. That didn’t die for a lack of love or care. Now… maybe more than ever… it’s a chance to see what really was behind their first meeting. I think in some ways life will be far better for them cause they don’t have the trappings of youth behind them, they can just… be?” Konral said as he leaned back looking up at the ceiling as they spoke. He felt a sense of calm and peace then, all they had gone through had lead to cherishing these quiet moments.

“Yeah, probably,” she said as she leaned the side of her body against his. “And I also have to admit that it’s nice to have someone else with a vested interest in her well-being keeping an eye on her. Her being on Earth, and my being out here was always hard, but until she showed up here on the Athena, I never realized just how much better our relationship could be.”
“What about you? What’s new with that family of yours? Do I get to see any my sisters-in-law anytime soon?” It wasn’t like any of his family had been at their wedding, and while she hadn’t asked, she did wonder if there wasn’t any resentment about that from them.

“They have been bugging me, it was short notice to have our wedding but they understood that much. If they don’t get us soon though there maybe a revolt and they try to take over the ship to meet you.” Konral said with a small chuckle to himself.

She laughed aloud, amused a little at their conversation and the way they sometimes spoke telepathically and sometimes aloud. It was never something they talked about or agreed upon at the time, just something that happened naturally depending on the day, their moods and the general circumstances. “Can’t have them becoming pirates. It just wouldn’t do. Well, tell them that we should be at base again, and they want to do a little reunion there, that might work. We could book at room or even one of the restaurants and have a little party.”

Leaning over he looked at her, it was a look she knew well as he leaned in a kissed her. He needed moments alone to hide sometimes, Later… was all she would hear telepathically as he deepened the kiss. Sometimes one needed to take a step back and remember what you had in front of you. What he had was her, and that meant he needed to remind her from time to time how much he needed her. He couldn’t do this without her, it just wasn’t something that would happen. How much time you have before your shift? he asked just as his lips separated, looking deep into her eyes with a small smirk as he took her hand and slowly kissed the back of it.

A sly grin slipped appeared on her face as she leaned in towards him. Enough time, she reassured him. Slipping a leg over his, she slid her body against him. Definitely have time.

Well then let me see just what we have under all this… I may have forgotten… Konral teased as he pulled her close as his arms wrapped around her, caressing and pulling her into him as he began to kiss down her neck slowly. He missed Koraia in times like these, and he needed to remind her how much he loved her.
