Figuring that it made sense to stop in Sickbay second so that she could both complete her physical and report for duty, Jessica headed to find the on-duty counselor. She opted to take a longer route, making her way through several of the ship’s decks so that she could begin to get a feel for the energy of the ship and the crew. Some might find being reassigned so quickly to be frustrating when it came to cultivating friendships, but she embraced the change as an opportunity to meet even more new people and make new friends. Exchanging several friendly smiles as she made eye contact, she soon found herself in front of the office door and pressed the door chime. She imagined that it wouldn’t be a long wait, but she still couldn’t help turning slightly to watch the comings and goings in the corridor to pass the few moments.Dr. Lemann
A dark presence appeared at her elbow. “Welcome to the Athena Dr Lemann” a silky soft voice was attached to a jet black Caitian with even darker eyes and a white-furred scar over one eye. “I had planned to escort you to the counsellor’s office, but it seems no one announces their presence in the transporter room or shuttle bay these days”. He smiled slightly uncovering a curved canine, “I trust you met with no incident on your way here?”.

“Hello there,” came Jessica’s friendly greeting, although she hadn’t precisely expected someone to stop and greet her as she watched the corridor. A smile fell over her features as she continued, “no, it was a very simple process to get on board. I’m finally starting to get used to the various checkboxes and tasks that Starfleet puts you through.” She laughed lightly, meaning no true insult to the red tape. Her green eyes flicked upward as she searched her memory for the name of the officer in front of her, knowing that she had seen it as she had perused the crew manifest on her way to the ship. Finally settling on it, they returned to Nightstalker. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Commander Nightstalker.”

“Not many consider meeting me a pleasure” he mused, “But then I should have known that you would be an exception”. His grin widened even further and he seemed immensely pleased that she had summoned up his name. Dark eyes with flecks of starlight in their depths glinted with humour. “Yes, red tape, formalities and suchlike are all an unfortunate side effect of bureaucracy but people like you and I are used to being in charge and such things are to be endured as a distraction,”
“Are there any questions I can help with to ease your passage into this crew?” he asked openly.

Jessica’s blonde head tilted to the side in interest at Nightstalker’s response to her greeting . “It’s always a pleasure to meet someone until proven otherwise,” she commented, her green eyes sparkling and dancing in amusement and delight as she crossed her arms in front of her chest. She contemplated his question for a brief moment and then made a show of raising her left eyebrow. “Do you plan to prove me otherwise?”
