“Tell her nothing” the older woman snapped. “Bring us into the main hangar bay”.

“Shield’s still up” Kaylee answered with a furrowed brow, “I’ve sent the code but nobodies answering, strange”.

From a grating in the floor a hitherto unseen pair of eyes watched carefully, quietly, biding time…

Orvos had taken quite the trek to get on the shuttle. Rura Penthe. a penal colony in his universe. What would this place be like in the mirror universe? he pondered.

He pushed the thought aside. Why they were here needed to be known. Nobody was answering the code on the planet? Something must have gone wrong. He took his tricorder and quickly found a way to link it to a primary computer line. He needed to get some readings from the ship’s sensors as to what was going on outside the ship. He also took the moment to attach his drone control to his temple. Primed and ready when needed.

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

The ship’s sensors showed that the shields were up but that the planetary defence system was down in every respect. A noise from the cockpit above drew his attention.

Kaylee slapped herself in the head and swore softly. “I’m an idiot,” she said eyes flashing in the dim lighting. “The ship has a wormhole drive! We can jump inside the shields”.

In a matter of moments, she had set the coordinates and following a short jump to within the shields she piloted the craft to a landing in a shuttle bay within a huge science complex that judging by the lack of lights on was largely uninhabited. Kaylee and her Mother frogmarched Isabel off the ship with Iliana Ghemor meekly in tow and started heading towards a nearby hallway door.

Orvos took a quick moment to look at the bindings on Isabel Delaney. He had some ideas before he went to work, depending on what they were.

Once he had what notes he needed mentally, he moved to a computer console and looked over schematics of the place. And even more so, he needed to determine why they were here and what the all these women were here for. Delaney was a captive, but the cardassian woman seemed reluctant to Orvos.

He searched the video records on the ship for the last few hours of work that had been done. Perhaps he would glean something from footage?

He made quick work of everything for he knew not how much time he really had.

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

OOC Orvos can keep posting here until he leaves the ship but Isabel should start posting on the Rura Penthe thread because that’s where the denizens of this vessel have gone :-)
IC
The footage came up readily enough although much of the computer system was buried in an algorithm that Kaylee had not been able to break. Isabel was unconscious when they beamed aboard, a trick they had managed in transit engineered by Kaylee’s mother. He also saw them bringing out a canister and opening it. Clearly within it was a Bajoran Orb which according to their conversation was destined for Rura Penthe to be harnassed as an energy conduit for creating genetically enhanced super soldiers for the flailing Klingon/Cardassian Alliance.

“Super soldiers?” he whispered aloud to nobody. “Oh yeah sure, Orvos, I’ll chase them for you. The bloody hell was I thinking?” He knew full well however that he couldn’t resist a chance to ensure things ended up well for them in the end. Besides, if he hadn’t gone on this little jaunt, would Isabel Delaney have ever been found? No other ships in the vicinity meant that the Athena likely hadn’t followed.

As he was looking there was a sudden noise from behind him as a hatch opened…

Orvos looked up and put his hand to his wrist device. In a blink of an eye, he would be protected with the press of a button. He also quickly found a place to hide. Best to let them think nobody was here. He needed them to be quiet.

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

A large lupine form stepped out followed by an ebony-skinned woman, both of whom looked ++very++ familiar to Orvos. The larger form spoke in the gloom, “I smell you, friend or foe?”.

Junior Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

Orvos stepped out from the shadows, his hands crossed before him, thumb near his wrist device to be absolutely safe. “That of course depends on you. Why are you here? And what are your intentions with this ship?” he inquired.

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

Luka stepped forward and looked Orvos up and down, sniffing the air.

Orvos merely raised an eyebrow at her.

Ghubari took one look and intoned. “Stand down my friend, this one is from the Athena”. She wasted no time filing Orvos in. “We’re here to save my fiance from himself. He’s here with a very dangerous individual playing a very dangerous game. I’m here to get him out and get him home where I fully intend to give him the biggest task of his life, fronting up to my father”.

Junior Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

“A dangerous individual? What’s the game being played you speak of?” he said as he then turned to the ship’s sensors and accessed the current information. He was not in the mood for more surprises, especially ones that would endanger his life a bit more.

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

She appraised him frankly, all sign of the naive diplomat’s daughter gone. “I was raised as a Napean, but I’m half-human which during the time of the Klingon/Cardassian alliance was akin to a death sentence, or worse. My father tried to protect me but it was found out and a man was sent to kill me. His name is Julien. Long story short, he didn’t kill me and then became my protector and soul mate. He’s here trying to take down the last organisation that poses a threat to me” she snorted, “But of course he didn’t tell me what he had planned. This place is a repository of knowledge on DNA from trillions of subjects, including me. The Klingons were using it to try to create supersoldiers. They decimated whole races trying to perfect it including one called the Heleen. One of the last of that race talked my husband to be into coming here for some payback. Luka and I are here to make sure he doesn’t die in the process of being used by this madwoman… and now you know”.

Junior Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

Orvos nodded as he soaked in the information.

“So ,” he began. “Secret organization trying to make super soldiers. Boyfriend is trying to protect you by listening to a supposed mad woman. You want to save boyfriend. Hold on, you said they have your DNA. Do they have the DNA of either myself or your companion here?”

Eyes hooded she looked at him, her lips a tense line of discontent. “Not you, but they have plenty of DNA from Luka’s people, they were nearly wiped out in the war. If they’ve succeeded, we could find ourselves up against anything.”

After her answer, he considered what to do next. “We need a plan. I’m assuming that’s partly why you are here? Weren’t expecting me?”

“No, we weren’t. Our plan was to get Julien out, nothing more”.

He looked for schematics of the place as he listened to their answer. They would need a map and a location to go to. He scanned the area for El Aurian lifesigns.

-Lt. Orvos Legen. CE

The schematics popped up at his touch, courtesy of a bio-interface that recognized his DNA as indistinguishable to his doppelganger. There were no El-Aurian life signs, but there were thousands of others…

Junior Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist.

“Alright, we have an Orb of the Prophets that’s about to be used to create super soldiers. Potential for Laleri super soldiers. And there’s thousands of lifesigns. No idea how far along they are in the process. And Julien is here. Isable Delaney is held captive. Right! So!” he stated sporadically aloud as he compiled his thoughts.

His fingers danced across the computer console in search of multiple possibilities.

  1. He scanned for Isabel Delaney’s life sign AND combadge signal. Where is she? he thought.
  2. He attempted to access various engineering protocols nearby. Orvos wanted access to everything! (Communications, shields, weapons, sensors, life support, etc.)
  3. Orvos also attempted to locate Julien with the sensors.

Once those actions were complete, a thought dawned on him. It was probably the craziest coincidence, but what if? Orvos was aware of how the universes seemed to blending together. What if this Julien had access to the chip he installed in the Julien he had come to know? He accessed the private communication device still located near his ear and clicked it open for a communique to Julien. He started with something very simple. My name is Orvos Legen. Can you hear me? he stated over the link that would translate the thoughts straight into Julien‘s head if he had the device.

passes around the bowl of popcorn :P ~Linds

Many things happened at once. The outpost wouldn’t recognize his commands for any systems and access was encrypted with a Borg algorithm. The comm badge was several feet away on the floor, Isabel, Isabel and Julien were in a lab three levels up from the shuttle bay and a startled reply came back through Julien’s communication device.

=/\=Orvos, is that you?=/\=

Junior Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist
OOC Well played sir.

OOC: Thank you my friend. :) takes a bow :P

IC: Orvos’s eyebrows shot up. =/\=Yes, Julien it is I. Can you give a quick report on your status up there?=/\=

There was a slight pause =/\= I’m going to assume that you’re not my Orvos or you’d already be watching through my ocular implants and listening through my earpiece =/\=. There was another pause and then the voice spoke again =/\= I have your crewmate right next to me and according to Pierce Hamilton the Second your ship is on its way into a trap prepared just for it. You’ve got to warn them and get the base’s shields down. Are you alone? =/\=

=/\=The shields may be tricky. You’re fiancé and her protector, Luka are with me. The base is locked down with a borg algorithm by Commander Rovan Moor. Any other thoughts?=/\=

There was a hint of malicious glee in the reply. =/\= Get here quick comes to mind, we’re about to unleash something precipitous =/\=

After relaying the message to Julien, he then turned to Ghubari and Luka. “I have Julien’s location. My comrade whose combadge is currently laying on the floor at your feet is with him and her own counterpart in this universe. I’m also able to communicate with Julien personally so we do have that. I’m unable to access any of the systems outside of the shuttle. It’s all encrypted by a borg algorithm. We’re likely dealing with something far more dangerous than I originally suspected.

Ghubari looked at him flatly, “Trust me, if my sources are correct… and they always are, we are dealing with an extinction-level event for both out galaxies.”

“We could certainly storm the labs they are located in to free your husband to be and my compatriot. However, it would go much better if I were able to have access to a few systems.” He paused in thought.

Turning back to the computer. “Computer, analysis, who on the planet could have locked out all systems with a borg algorithm?”

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

The computer returned the answer swiftly, “Base Commander Rovan Moor”.

Junior Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

Orvos had to get a message to the Athena, and quickly. The shuttle responded to his touch. Perhaps he could use that? He wasn’t sure how far out they were, so the shuttle would have to suffice.

He tossed Ghubari a padd with a downloaded map on it. “This is the base. Get ready to move. I need to let the Athena know they are on their way to a trap and I have no idea if anyone is monitoring this shuttle’s communications. Julien is 3 levels up in a science lab with my Lt. Isabel Delaney. We need to get the shields down as well, but all commands are locked out with a borg algorithm created likely by Commander Rovan Moor. Can either of you find a way to get the shields down? I could provide as a distraction. I send out the message, they know where I am possibly. Then I meet them, do some distract-y bits, and thereby allowing you to move freely and get them down. Can you do that?”

Ghubari started to pour over the systems they had access to. “Nothing so far,” she said after a few moments, “I’ll keep looking”. Luka disappeared briefly and came back with a nasty looking disruptor rifle slung over her shoulder and twin gladius short swords strapped to her hip. “I believe I can provide a distraction if it’s necessary” her smile all teeth.

Orvos then prepared the communications array to locate the Athena for a message.

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

It patched them through, the channel was open…
