“I was thinking more on the lines of making it obvious I’m trying to find information about something they might care about. I’m thinking that dropping the name Eliza price into some queries might make a few people curious. And it fits your idea of past associations. We can take this right back to the beginning.”

“I like it,” he said warming to the subject, “Someone’s wiped all those files but I’ll give you 10 to 1 Dabo odds that they’ve kept a file of their own and if we can find out who that someone is, we can get our paws on that intel. They’ve got to be plenty connected though to have kept it under wraps this long”.

Ghubari nodded. “But we both know that the moment I do that, we’ve painted a target on the hull. I naturally assume there’s a permanent one there, but we must take precautions. I’d like you to work with Konral and make sure we’ve covered every possible base we can think of to keep the ship and crew safe.”

“Every possible base” Stark repeated biting off each word slightly as he did so, “I used to think such things were possible… then I met Q”, Stark stopped and looked around almost as if expecting him to appear. “But excuses aside, I’d like to bring Orvos, R’han and Liam into that little circle or protectors as well. We don’t need to tell all, but using my usual level of paranoia I’m sure they can between come up with some early warning scenarios and nasty surprises for anyone who decides to pay us a visit”.
Stark’s eyes darkened perceptibly “One possible base we haven’t explored is someone who may be on board already. I’d be surprised if they didn’t have a plant watching to see what we know”.

She was quiet for a moment, inhaling deeply. With a forceful exhale, she nodded. “I know. I’ve considered that possibility and it’s not like we haven’t had that happen before. It’s such a large ship Stark. It feels impossible to be one hundred percent sure of anything or anyone. Well, with a fair few exceptions, of course,” she said with a smile in his direction.
“Thank you,” he said simply, “and I agree about the size of this ship. I have to admit that I can’t be as sure of everyone as I once was either”.
“So let’s consider that that might be true. What do we do that wouldn’t make it seem like we’re bing paranoid and draw attention to our actions?” Ghubari had her own ideas, but she didn’t want to limit their options overly much at the moment. To do so would seem negligent given they weren’t even sure what they were looking for just yet.

“It’s been so quiet that I’m absolutely certain they have a plant, because otherwise I’d be picking up them trying to find out what we know and I’m not” He sighed, “That’s why I’m thinking if we let them know that we’re on to them and are actively feeding them misinformation then they might step up their efforts and so expose themselves”.

She nodded. “Okay, so we’re back to me pinging Eliza’s name. So I will do that, but before I do, you and Konral need to discuss the situation. I’m not pining that name without us being fully ready.” Her fingers tapped on her thigh with restless energy. Finally they were going to make a move and there was a certain thrill that came with the situation. However, she was acutely aware of the stakes and the possible innocent lives that could be aught in the crossfire- something she was desperate to avoid.

“Do you want to call him in now?” Stark asked quietly, “and should it be you or I who coordinate our other “assets” aboard ship?”
