OOC Awkward silence… actually the Cardassians and Klingons aren’t there. The Human/Romulan alliance that brought down the Klingon/ Cardassian Alliance is trying to get the Gorn, Tholians and Breen (All 3 in a pact called the Taurus Pact) to join them to make sure the Cardassians and Klingons stay beaten. Let’s just modify that post a bit to be looking at the Taurus Pact delegates and move on eh :-) Sorry I’ve made this so complicated :-(

IC
Zogozin of the Gorn stood to his feet. “You speak liesss, you are an assassin ssssent to spring the trap that they have set for ussss”. With a scaly claw, he pointed to the Human and Romulan delegations. Eddington had joined the Human Alliance group just as the proclamation was made.

Stark tensed and inched one foot backwards ready to spring if necessary. He’d researched Gorn and how far they could jump and he was reasonably confident that Zogozin could get to Kaylee in two leaps… however Stark could get to him before he could make the second. He started calculating vectors humming quietly to himself.

Kaylee smiled. “Oh? And what’s this trap you speak of? Why are you so certain that they have brought us here for ulterior motives?” She gave a quick glance over towards Eddington and then back towards Zogozin.

Eddington nodded encouragingly. Zogozin drew himself up to his rather imposing height. “You ssseek to destabilise the Taurus Pact by killing the leaderss pressent so that you can overrun our planetss and use our ressources for yourself and our people as slavesss’, he waved to the Tholian and Breen delegates as he spoke, “You need to be aware that if harm comes to any of usss, a fleet nearby will raze this planet to dussst!”.

Eddington looked up in alarm and looked at an aide who scurried off to investigate.

“You have just admitted to your own breach of diplomatic negotiations, as well as made a threat to this very accord,” Kaylee stated. “How do we know it is not you who plans to murder these leaders and seek control of their planets and resources?” Kaylee looked over at Janna and Konral and raised her eyebrows. She wasn’t aware that they had detected any kind of fleet in hiding nearby, so it was possible that Zogozin could just be bluffing. She had to keep him talking until whatever it was that Eddington had up his sleeve would take place.

-Kaylee Baxter

Janna managed to keep a neutral expression but was quietly impressed with Kaylee’s handling of things so far. A slight lift of her brows to Baxter’s look indicated she didn’t find the threat very compelling. She’d jump in, but for the moment it was easier to keep the conversation focused.

Zogozin was a little taken aback by the accusation but before he could dig himself deeper Azrene of the Tholians spoke up in a voice like the harsh discordant clashing of multiple stringed instruments. “Having a fleet belies the intent to use it Madam Ambassador, we admit nothing of intent other than to be in a position to take swift retribution should the occasion demand it.”

Thot Gor of the Breen unleashed a tirade of harsh metallic speech which Azrene calmly translated. “My ally would like to know where you ship has gone… as would we all”.

“That is none of your concern,” Kaylee said. “We are not here to talk about me, or our ship.” She looked around at the faces of those around her. She was quickly running out of stalling tactics, and she gave a glance over towards Stark, he would no doubt be able to sense her nervousness.

Konral looked at the crowd of angry faces as he wondered how far this would take them. They needed the time and she was running out, but he wasn’t sure what they needed next. “Maybe we all just remember we are here for peace? We can get along a lot better if we do.” Konral chimed in hoping it would help Kaylee’s cause.

Stark took a step closer to where Kaylee was standing and his eyes went flat as he purposefully scanned the opposing groups. He said nothing but his intentions were clear, a line had been drawn.

A voice audible to all came from Orvos control box in the ceiling. It was amplified to a booming pitch and everyone in the Breen delegation flinched from the precise pitch of the noise apart from one standing back and to the right of Thot Gor. Orvos voice boomed out again “Treachery!”.

Thot Gor had seen the disguised “Breen” and was moving to intercept when the being threw off its helmet revealing a bald head with filagree markings pulsing vivid red, Laraan.

OOC Cry Havoc… you know the rest… :-)

“Ah hell, ” Janna muttered, moving off to take cover given that simply standing amongst a room that was erupting into chaos was a good way for her to die. She was unarmed and susceptible to severe bleeding. A bad combination under the circumstances. But was there anyplace to go that wasn’t head first into someone that wanted to harm them?

~Janna Kingston, ACNS

Stark froze for an all-important moment as he gazed upon the mirror image of his wife. He knew what Laraan was capable of and if this Laraan didn’t share his own wife’s good nature then all hell was about to break loose. He went from attack mode to defence and started calculating how he could keep their people away from the carnage that was about to ensue.

Kaylee held her ground, not wanting to make any sudden movements. She wasn’t sure what to do or say at this point. She knew that she would be protected, and if she got her hands on a weapon she could more than hold her own. But this revelation of Laraan startled her, and it appeared, the other delegations as well.

-Kaylee Baxter

Thot Gor obviously recognized the apparition before him and started to back away. Laraan stood and looked at all assembled with abject hatred. “Orvos I told you to stay out of my way. Don’t make me end your long and illustrious career!” She spun and looked at Kaylee, “I count you and all assembled here as culpable in the death and destruction of the Heleen people… my people. You all stood idly by when the Klingons and Cardassians destroyed Heel. In my opinion, you’re no more fit to rule…”

The sentence went unfinished as out of nowhere a Gorn leapt from a prone position close to the floor and launched itself all fangs and claws at Laraan. In what seemed the blink of an eye the Gorn simply ceased to exist, as if it had been snatched from the air by an invisible force and destroyed. All that was left of it was a haze of disparate elements drifting to the floor as if the energy had been sucked out of them to the atomic level.

Laraan seemed completely unfazed by the attack and levelled a gaze at all assembled that said beyond a shadow of a doubt that if anyone else wanted to join the first attacker they were most welcome to try.

Well that was unexpected, Janna through from her spot hidden behind a pillar. It wasn’t exactly the most secure of covers, but it allowed her to watch what was going on. Moving to the side of the pillar, she gazed at Laraan and frowned slightly. “We’re not from here,” Janna said, knowing that it was time to correct a few misconceptions. Their presences was already disruptive here, so why not go with it? “Where we come from, the Heleen people still exist. I work with a woman who is half-Heleen, in fact,” she said calmly, gazing deeply at Laraan.

~Janna Kingston, ACNS

The little spitfire of a woman seemed visibly moved by this news. “I have heard rumours of your realm,” she said her face tense, “but how do I know you’re telling the truth?” Her eyes hardened, “and why would that change what I do here in this place!”.

Using hand signals Thot Gor and the Tholian and Gorns were assembling their expendables. It was obvious they were going to try and overwhelm Laraan by sheer force of numbers.
