(snip)
OOC Awkward silence… actually the Cardassians and Klingons aren’t there. The Human/Romulan alliance that brought down the Klingon/ Cardassian Alliance is trying to get the Gorn, Tholians and Breen (All 3 in a pact called the Taurus Pact) to join them to make sure the Cardassians and Klingons stay beaten. Let’s just modify that post a bit to be looking at the Taurus Pact delegates and move on eh :-) Sorry I’ve made this so complicated :-(

IC
Zogozin of the Gorn stood to his feet. “You speak liesss, you are an assassin ssssent to spring the trap that they have set for ussss”. With a scaly claw, he pointed to the Human and Romulan delegations. Eddington had joined the Human Alliance group just as the proclamation was made.

Vander, COS

Stark tensed and inched one foot backwards ready to spring if necessary. He’d researched Gorn and how far they could jump and he was reasonably confident that Zogozin could get to Kaylee in two leaps… however Stark could get to him before he could make the second. He started calculating vectors humming quietly to himself.

Kaylee smiled. “Oh? And what’s this trap you speak of? Why are you so certain that they have brought us here for ulterior motives?” She gave a quick glance over towards Eddington and then back towards Zogozin.

-Kaylee Baxter

Eddington nodded encouragingly. Zogozin drew himself up to his rather imposing height. “You ssseek to destabilise the Taurus Pact by killing the leaderss pressent so that you can overrun our planetss and use our ressources for yourself and our people as slavesss’, he waved to the Tholian and Breen delegates as he spoke, “You need to be aware that if harm comes to any of usss, a fleet nearby will raze this planet to dussst!”.

Eddington looked up in alarm and looked at an aide who scurried off to investigate.

Junior Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

“You have just admitted to your own breach of diplomatic negotiations, as well as made a threat to this very accord,” Kaylee stated. “How do we know it is not you who plans to murder these leaders and seek control of their planets and resources?” Kaylee looked over at Janna and Konral and raised her eyebrows. She wasn’t aware that they had detected any kind of fleet in hiding nearby, so it was possible that Zogozin could just be bluffing. She had to keep him talking until whatever it was that Eddington had up his sleeve would take place.

-Kaylee Baxter

Janna managed to keep a neutral expression but was quietly impressed with Kaylee’s handling of things so far. A slight lift of her brows to Baxter’s look indicated she didn’t find the threat very compelling. She’d jump in, but for the moment it was easier to keep the conversation focused.

~Janna Kingston, ACNS

Zogozin was a little taken aback by the accusation but before he could dig himself deeper Azrene of the Tholians spoke up in a voice like the harsh discordant clashing of multiple stringed instruments. “Having a fleet belies the intent to use it Madam Ambassador, we admit nothing of intent other than to be in a position to take swift retribution should the occasion demand it.”

Thot Gor of the Breen unleashed a tirade of harsh metallic speech which Azrene calmly translated. “My ally would like to know where you ship has gone… as would we all”.

Junior Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

Julien had stayed as unobstrusively in a corner as possible, holding his med kit in front of him as if to say that that was his only reason for existence. He had a feeling though that even the valient diplomacy that Kaylee was executing was slowly nearing its end. With his android eye he could see that the pulse of Zogozin had been rising steadily and had reached a level of extreme agitation for a Gorn.
Something was definetly off here. The scents also weren’t right, the Breen was not the first Breen Julien had met and smelled - and this Breen did not smell like a Breen.

“That is none of your concern,” Kaylee said. “We are not here to talk about me, or our ship.” She looked around at the faces of those around her. She was quickly running out of stalling tactics, and she gave a glance over towards Stark, he would no doubt be able to sense her nervousness.

-Kaylee Baxter

Konral looked at the crowd of angry faces as he wondered how far this would take them. They needed the time and she was running out, but he wasn’t sure what they needed next. “Maybe we all just remember we are here for peace? We can get along a lot better if we do.” Konral chimed in hoping it would help Kaylee’s cause.

Vander, CoS

Stark took a step closer to where Kaylee was standing and his eyes went flat as he purposefully scanned the opposing groups. He said nothing but his intentions were clear, a line had been drawn.

A voice audible to all came from Orvos control box in the ceiling. It was amplified to a booming pitch and everyone in the Breen delegation flinched from the precise pitch of the noise apart from one standing back and to the right of Thot Gor. Orvos voice boomed out again “Treachery!”.

Thot Gor had seen the disguised “Breen” and was moving to intercept when the being threw off its helmet revealing a bald head with filagree markings pulsing vivid red, Laraan.

Junior Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist
OOC Cry Havoc… you know the rest… :-)

“Ah hell, ” Janna muttered, moving off to take cover given that simply standing amongst a room that was erupting into chaos was a good way for her to die. She was unarmed and susceptible to severe bleeding. A bad combination under the circumstances. But was there anyplace to go that wasn’t head first into someone that wanted to harm them?

~Janna Kingston, ACNS

Julien’s eyes widened at seeing their mirror counselor and he edged his way closer to the action, next to Jenna, so his arm slightly touched hers, letting her know she was not alone or unprotected. It was not quite yet time to reveal himself, Stark had not yet given him the eye and he trusted Stark to know when the right time had come to reveal his secret weapon… so to say. Although, would the face of his wife throw the trained warrior?

Stark froze for an all-important moment as he gazed upon the mirror image of his wife. He knew what Laraan was capable of and if this Laraan didn’t share his own wife’s good nature then all hell was about to break loose. He went from attack mode to defence and started calculating how he could keep their people away from the carnage that was about to ensue.

Stark Nightstalker CIO

Kaylee held her ground, not wanting to make any sudden movements. She wasn’t sure what to do or say at this point. She knew that she would be protected, and if she got her hands on a weapon she could more than hold her own. But this revelation of Laraan startled her, and it appeared, the other delegations as well.

-Kaylee Baxter

Thot Gor obviously recognized the apparition before him and started to back away. Laraan stood and looked at all assembled with abject hatred. “Orvos I told you to stay out of my way. Don’t make me end your long and illustrious career!” She spun and looked at Kaylee, “I count you and all assembled here as culpable in the death and destruction of the Heleen people… my people. You all stood idly by when the Klingons and Cardassians destroyed Heel. In my opinion, you’re no more fit to rule…”

The sentence went unfinished as out of nowhere a Gorn leapt from a prone position close to the floor and launched itself all fangs and claws at Laraan. In what seemed the blink of an eye the Gorn simply ceased to exist, as if it had been snatched from the air by an invisible force and destroyed. All that was left of it was a haze of disparate elements drifting to the floor as if the energy had been sucked out of them to the atomic level.

THAT did shock Julien. With his Android eye he could see what she had done to the Gorn… somehow she had sucked the energy that held all matter together out of his bits of matter… this was worse than a disruptor and a completely wanton act of self-justice. His eye swivelled to mirror Laraan, evil Laraan as it were!

Laraan seemed completely unfazed by the attack and levelled a gaze at all assembled that said beyond a shadow of a doubt that if anyone else wanted to join the first attacker they were most welcome to try.

Junior Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

Well that was unexpected, Janna through from her spot hidden behind a pillar. It wasn’t exactly the most secure of covers, but it allowed her to watch what was going on. Moving to the side of the pillar, she gazed at Laraan and frowned slightly. “We’re not from here,” Janna said, knowing that it was time to correct a few misconceptions. Their presences was already disruptive here, so why not go with it? “Where we come from, the Heleen people still exist. I work with a woman who is half-Heleen, in fact,” she said calmly, gazing deeply at Laraan.

~Janna Kingston, ACNS

Standing next to Jenna, Julien’S respect for the woman increased. Addressing an evil being that had just sucked out the life essence of a being into nothingness without showing any emotion took guts!

The little spitfire of a woman seemed visibly moved by this news. “I have heard rumours of your realm,” she said her face tense, “but how do I know you’re telling the truth?” Her eyes hardened, “and why would that change what I do here in this place!”.

Using hand signals Thot Gor and the Tholian and Gorns were assembling their expendables. It was obvious they were going to try and overwhelm Laraan by sheer force of numbers.

Junior Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

It was not his Laraan but seeing this being about to be attacked from all sides Stark could restrain himself no longer. He dropped to the ground and moved to counter the attack as best he could.

Stark Nightstalker CIO

Julien saw Stark’s move and his heart sunk heavily, while he schooled his features to not betray his dismay. Stark had fallen for the face of his wife! Was he really going to protect that monster?

“Because it means there can be a future for you… peace… this…” Konral said as he looked around. “This isn’t the way to live for anyone. This place is twisted and torn, but you don’t have to be.”
Vander, COS

Kaylee stood by, watching and waiting for what the next move would be. Things had taken an interesting turn.
-Kaylee Baxter

Before Laraan could reply to Vander’s comment, three Breen and two Gorn rushed her position, simultaneously everyone else got well back out of the way.
Junior Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

Stark launched himself to the top of one of the podium’s sailing through the air past Laraan and straight at the Gorn coming from her rear. His scream could have cut through neutronium.
Stark Nightstalker CIO

Janna moved swiftly closer to Vander and hurriedly said, “Quick, fire your weapon carefully towards the ceiling or a wall. Away from people,” she said simply. She wasn’t asking.

She didn’t even wait, just hoped that that she could interrupt the insanity before any blood was shed. “Everyone, STOP!” she commanded, with all the air of authority she could muster, despite her petite size and generally quiet demeanour.
~Janna Kingston, ACNS

It dawned on Julien then that Stark’s tactic to seemingly protect the monster in their midst, could be simply the best plot to save their crew in the room. It made sense, side with the worst evil in the room. Risky - but what else could you do if you were facing such a powerful being. Grudgingly, Julien decided to follow the tactic.

OOC Just going to sit on this a while longer to let that shot get fired :-) Ian

The distraction proved advantageous for Stark who succeeded in deflecting the Gorn bent on Laraan’s death. The tiny woman saw the others coming and simply disappeared, appearing four steps away as the combatants collapsed in a heap where she had been a second before. She was safe but she looked ashen grey and breathless.

“Proof of their treachery!”, Thot Gor screamed and pointed to where Janna was standing with the others. Suddenly Tholian’s, Gorn and Breen rushed their position. The Romulans moved to hold the flank as did the earth Alliance on the opposite side. Orvos appeared descending from a compartment in the ceiling on the back of a modified floating antigrav platform.

Junior Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

Stark had not yet given him a sign, so Julien would still hold back, but that didn’t mean he would stay impassive. As the group rushed towards them, he came forward to meet them in front of Jenna, his right body half posed forward, whoever would come into the reach of his right arm first had lost. In his periphal vision he saw Vander, but knew the COS was well able to take care of business himself.

  • Julien, doctor

Janna was quietly glad for the man’s presence. At the moment, while fully trained and capable, it was entirely likely that in the chaos she would sustain injuries and given that the Athena was who the hell knew where, medical attention was rather far away. She ducked closer to her pillar, hoping to shield herself from whatever happened next. Being unarmed had its disadvantages and she searched the room with her eyes for anything she might be able to swing and use as a weapon.

~Janna Kingston, ACNS

Stark hissed a whisper at the petite power pack three feet from his left. “I know you, the other you, I know your abilities and limits and I know you’re there now. My Laraan would want me to bring you to her, take my energy to protect yourself and us but NO killing”.

Stark Nightstalker CIO
OOC Just so you know, I’m playing Stark as I see him responding but the responses from mirror Laraan are being dictated by the random roll of a dice… could be his end right here :-)
OOC: Oh my! You simply can’t let him die, it would be too big a loss for the ship.

Julien’s right ear had picked that up through all the commotion and his eyes widened. He couldn’t afford to take his eyes of the ones rushing to him to attack, but in his mind two thoughts were raging against each other - Stark was either plain out crazy or the most courageous person he’d ever met.

  • Julien Smith, doctor

There was the crackle of fire from above as Orvos started to swoop over the onrushing crowd firing some sort of stun pellets from his floating antigrav platform.

Eddington arrived at their position along with Keiko Ishikawa, ready to defend.

As the fighting erupted, Kaylee silently and slowly crept her way so that she was now standing just behind Eddington. She was crouched low in a defensive stance, but ready to pounce if anyone came her way.

The first wave reached the dark Caitian and the pale Heleen. She grabbed his arm and threw six of the onrushing mob into the rest and then promptly disappeared completely from the building. Stark dropped to the floor deathly still…

Junior Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

Julien shot Janna a look “Stay close to me, I need to get to him.” he said, grabbed her hand with his human left hand, so as to not to accidentially crush it and pulled her into quick motion on his way to Stark, while dodging the firing and fighting going on as best as he could and always positioning his right android body half in front of them as a shield.

OOC: Assuming he gets to Stark
IC: Dropping to his knees after making sure Janna was save behind him, he released the same-eye-movement lock in his right eye so he was able to track what was going on around them with his right eye, while his left eye was locked on Stark. Something he did very rarely as it usually freaked people out and resulted in a painful headache for him, but he didn’t care right now.
He whipped out his med tricorder and scanned Stark.
- Julien

Stark was breathing… barely.

Kaylee wished she had a phaser or a disruptor any kind of weapon right now. She saw Stark fall, and for the moment, the wave on oncoming attackers appeared to have been slowed down by the actions of the Heleen. She spun slowly on her heels, ready for an attack.

-Kaylee Baxter

Everything went into slow motion as all sides realised that the Heleen was gone. Everyone started to dispatch aides to search outside.

Zogozin pointed a scaly claw at Stark’s supine form. “He helped herrrr, you are alliessss!”.

All eyes turned towards Kaylee and Athena’s crew to see what would happen next.

Junior Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist
OOC Option 4, not the best, but at least Stark’s still breathing :-)

OOC: The medical tricorder gives out more info than breathing or not breathing and this informs my next actions (I do try to stick to medical reality as much as possible).
- Thanks, Julia

OOC You’d find that he was alive but weak as a kitten from having every single cell in his body bar his heart drained of cellular energy. He needs glucose and a good vacation. Sorry I missed that.

Junior Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist

In a breathy whisper, Stark said, ‘Anyone get the number of that truck…”
