Orvos had maintained a sense of quiet as he observed the duo. If his senses were right, Orvos was feeling a slight ebb of emotion stemming from the Vulcan himself. But, he maintained his observations in the quiet of his mind.

Orvos smiled in return. “A smile from a Vulcan is a rare commodity, but a welcome one,” he said. Moving the topic onward, hoping to not make the man feel awkward, he said, “So, engineering eh? I’m sure you would happen to know a thing or two about sonic showers, right?”

As he had spoken, Orvos input his own order of sushi and Vulcan brandy, as Va’rek has suggested.

-Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

Jessica remained shockingly silent as the other two completed their orders and then conversed. She didn’t have anything to say about sonic showers, it turned out. Instead she glanced around the lounge, taking in the various crew members that were enjoying some off-duty time in the space. She grinned as she caught sight of the CIO, raising her hand to waggle her fingers at him in greeting.

Dr. Lemann

He looked at her and nodded his head as if to ask if he was being invited to come over or just being casually recognized as being present.

Stark Nightstalker CIO

Jessica cocked her head to the side as she processed the Caitian’s question. Her eyes flicked to the empty chair next to the CE and then back to him as she nodded and crooked her finger to gesture him over to the group. Her attention was then quickly distracted by the arrival of the selected food and beverages. Within seconds of the dish being placed in front of her, Jessica had snatched up a fry and began munching on it in delight.

Dr. Lemann

Va’rek nodded as Orvos spoke. The man was odd, but he still felt a desire to impress amid all the other fluctuating feelings roiling around inside him. A chance to speak with a colleague about the field he loved, his life’s work… that was rare, even in Starfleet. However, Orvos’ question caught him off guard and he glanced from the Chief to Jessica slightly confused before deciding to make a joke of it. In that perfect Vulcan fashion, the smile faded to a serious facade and one indicting eyebrow rose a good deal.

“Sonic Showers… Are you implying that I require…freshening up?” He held the deadpan look for an extra couple of seconds before cutting the tension by lifting the tumbler of brandy to his lips and hoping the relief didn’t show in his face as the alcohol trailed into his belly. He hadn’t noticed Jessica’s silent interplay with Stark yet. Holding more than one conversation at a time was… taxing, to say the least. Perhaps he’d have another brandy after they’d eaten.

-Va’rek

A grin slowly spread over Orvos’s features. “Was that a Vulcan joke?”

Va’rek’s deadpan was likely ruined by the mostly feminine snort next to him. The snort was followed up with light coughing as Jessica had just sampled the Vulcan brandy when the exchange between the two engineers took place. She hurriedly set down the beverage to cough a few times and then elbowed her companion lightly in the ribs again, shaking her head in amusement. Once she had settled her respiratory system down, she took a slow sip of the brandy again and held it in her mouth for a few moments before swallowing. It was good, she had to give the Vulcan credit for that.

Dr. Lemann

The doctor’s snort startled Orvos for the briefest of seconds, as he too gave chuckle.

Stark stalked over and slid into the faux leather chair resisting the impulse to give it a good scratching. “Evenin all” he said in a passable imitation of a Yorkshire accent.

Stark Nightstalker CIO

Jessica giggled lightly as Stark joined them with the unexpected accent. “Hello,” she greeted him cheerfully.

Dr. Lemann

The Vulcan exhaled a bit more stiffly than he’d meant to, being jabbed in the ribs with an elbow, but carried it off fairly well. Va’rek was somewhat better at adjusting to human-style social interactions than other Vulcans… But in his recent state, it did take a lot of energy to perform thusly. He was simultaneously glad about Jessica’s close proximity and apparent comfort, but also apprehensive and beginning to feel pangs of disconnect. As if he were watching himself do and say these things but not quite participating. The effect wasn’t entirely unpleasant, but it meant something was wrong. His mind was employing defensive tactics to keep itself from overloading, he knew that, but couldn’t stop it. Dissociative episodes were often symptoms of PTSD, or Anxiety Disorder. Sometimes even deep Depression… He raised a brow and nodded a greeting as Nightstalker joined them. “Welcome,” Va’rek began, thinking back to Stark’s words about having Vulcan family ties. “Will you join us?”

-Va’rek

Orvos grinned. The caitian rarely needed an invitation for such things, but he was sure it was appreciated. “Of course he will.”

He then turned back to Va’rek. “The reason I ask about the sonic showers, is that we’ve had certain complaints and wanted to see if you would be up for the task. Just minor adjustments needed as per the occupants. What do you say?” Yes, he could have ordered the man to do so when he reported in. But he found that asking usually yielded better results. It also told him a lot more about the person depending on their response.

Orvos was also keenly aware that it was likely Stark knew exactly why he had even mentioned it.

OOC: Sorry for missing this guys! I’m back in the saddle now. ;)
