(snip)

There was a rumble throughout the ship but that was all. Whatever had happened it wasn’t as bad as it could have been.

Experiencing the rumble was quite the relief for Ben, he’d felt enough torpedoes hitting ships and seen enough warp core breaches to know that they were safe, at least for now “Alright, let’s clear up” He looked at the NE staff “Let’s move every non-critical patient out of here, move them up the ship, sickbay 2 should still be manned, make sure there’s nothing wrong before setting up shop” with only half of the resources of the two larger sickbays he decided to focus on the criticals here, mainly T’Pon and others like her.

Jessica froze as the rumble went through the ship, but when nothing came of it beyond that, tears of relief filled her green eyes once again. She brushed them away again as she took a deep breath and held it briefly before focusing on a long, slow exhale. Silently, she moved back to T’Pon again, deciding that the best use of her time was to stick close to the Vulcan until relieved of her charge.

“Ceres” hobbled off his bed and stuck close to Lemann and T’Pon. “Once a security guard, always a security guard,” Michail said from within his holographic disguise.

Benjamin raised an eyebrow at the man “Alright fine, just make yerself useful and nurse for Lemann” He started rubbing the bridge of his nose and sighed. With most of the people leaving he had a handful of patients and doctors left, hopefully, this would be over soon, this sickbay was much too far away to be of any use to the rest of the ship.

Jessica gave her new assistant a dubious and slightly terrified look, seemingly ready for the next attack after the series of events that had comprised the last few minutes of her life. She took a hurried breath and gulped audibly before stating, “she’s stable,” to the lurker, before brushing her hair out of her face with the back of her hand tiredly.

As she forced her focus on to “Ceres,” Jessica felt the twinges of compassion starting to creep into her brain and her brow furrowed slightly in confusion. It didn’t feel like it was originating from her, but from another source. Her head whipped around as if she was searching for another being in Sickbay and her eyes rested on T’Pon briefly, noting that she seemed to be resting in a semi-conscious state still. She could feel a rising panic again, remembering the scenes that had flashed through her mind so quickly when she’d made contact with the Vulcan just a short time ago, but she forced it down, audibly swallowing as if to mimic the emotional control she was exerting, and she tentatively focused on the compassion and soon identifying the source as Va’rek. A small smile crept across her lips, quickly pushing away the panic that had been there moments ago. Her eyes drifted shut for a moment as she focused on returning the gesture, feeling the twinges of pain along with the support he was sending her. She wasn’t sure if he could even feel it, not sure why she could feel him in the first place, but her heart poured out to him in that moment in support and affirmation.
