Stark laughed a little, something that was rare and for those who didn’t like the sight of sharp canines sometimes a little disturbing, “I think I’d like to try billiards, I’ve never tried either but I’d like to think I’m a quick study”.

He glanced at each in turn, and then both his brows rose in unison in a very Vulcan expression of pleasant surprise. “I believe Billiards might be a good decision…” Va’rek began, turning his eyes back to Stark. “and No, I do not count cards. However, I can do math quite well.” This was another of his subtle jests. The Vulcan was beginning to feel almost as if he were part of a group now. It was an interesting experience. His eye returned to Jessica where they probably stayed a little longer than they should’ve, but he covered that by pretending to be surprised there was still Brandy in his tumbler, and taking a sip.

-Va’rek

Jessica couldn’t resist and deadpanned at Va’rek. “Really? You can do math quite well? I never would have guessed…” She held the purposefully blank expression for a second or two before her features dissolved into a giggle and then her attention focused back on the group. She nudged her chair back and stood up decisively. “Well, it sounds like we have a plan. I assume we’re heading to the holodeck?” She noticed Va’rek take another sip of his brandy and leaned down to peer into his glass. “You better finish all of that, it’ll help,” she commented with another quick, impish grin.

Orvos raised an eyebrow, not having thought of the holodeck before. “Your choice really. We could go to the holodeck and create a simulated environment, or we could go to the recreation hall which is just adjacent to 17/18 Forward. We could probably move our food and drinks there too if you like. The recreation hall has various games, two tennis tables, two pool tables, a small pool, bowling lanes and a beverage bar. And others might decide to join in should they find our antics amusing, eh?”

Lt. Orvos Legen, CE

Jessica shrugged casually. “That works too. This ship is way bigger than my last assignment, so I always forget about the various bells and whistles,” she commented with a grin. “It looks like we might need a refill for the drinks, though,” she added on, her tone amusingly innocent. She side-stepped behind Va’rek’s chair until she had entered the space between the tables and then bounced slightly on her toes as she waited for the others to stand and join her. “Lead the way,” she instructed to the CE with an eager smile.

Stark unfolded himself from the seat coming upright in a fluid motion and waited for the others, eyes watchful.

Va’rek stood up as well, coming upright in a less smooth motion. He was feeling overwhelmed again, but now that he’d eaten his coloring was better. “I think Billiards is something I would like to try…” He said, squeezing his way out from his seat and standing aside to follow the others.
Social interactions were still quite puzzling. The Vulcan wondered if he were perhaps reading too deeply into the small cues the others were using. Expressions, body language. It seemed to him like trying to speak several languages at once. It wasn’t impossible, but it was difficult for someone not versed in such things. Fighting the impulse to let his expression go slack, he raised a brow and tried to make his face communicate the interest he felt in the game.

-Va’rek

Jessica’s smile deepened and brightened as Va’rek agreed upon the activity. Her green eyes flicked over his face briefly, taking the time to notice that he was looking a little better after their meal, but tension was still evident in his features. One thing at a time, she thought to herself as she turned her attention to where the CE had indicated there were billiards available. Without waiting for her compatriots, she started to head that way, a swirl of loose blonde hair following her as she weaved between tables to the recreation area.

Orvos had stood up and moved to keep pace with her, his drink in hand. He placed it down on a table near the game area. He moved to a rack of pool cues, selecting a very specific one. It had rubber-like grip on the end with swirling blue tendrils that ascended the shaft. He moved to grab some chalk and took care of the tip. He then took notice of the others as they arrived and selected their own cues. He was after all, a listener. He observe as much as possible.

With an economy of movement, Stark followed. He surveyed the wooden cues and made a mental note not to leave scratches in them. He wasn’t often around wooden things on the starship but once when he’d carved his initials into a wooden desk S’Raal had installed he’d discovered that people frowned on such things. Then as he looked at the whole table, also wood, he decided that resisting the impulse had just got a great deal more difficult.

Jessica came up next to Nightstalker to survey the offerings, noting that he seemed to be particularly interested in the devices as well as the table nearby. She bumped her hip against his slightly with a smirk as she reached to select a cue at random and then sashayed over to the table. “Does someone want to explain this?” she queried with an innocent grin as she mimicked the motions of the CE with her own cue.
