The Guardian paused again, sensors indicated that it’s silicone matrix did indeed blend both animate object and machine tendencies but then in many respects humanoids were also machines possessed by a soul that took them higher than themselves. Staggeringly it seemed to be struggling with an answer.

“Always is a word that time does not recognise” it said as it tried to shape it’s answer “Time belongs to all, and it is the rocks that measure it. Counterstrike have the ability and therefore they can be “anytime”. Time protects itself by blocking interference apart from the time nexus we are experiencing now but that time nexus stretches throughout the…” it paused again looking for the right words, “”times” and can be manipulated towards order or away from order. Counterstrike uses their knowledge to destroy order and that is why they must be stopped”.

Liam paused to absorb the information. It was a painfully classical struggle of opposing forces in the fabric of time. Counterstrike vs the Guardians of Aegis, each one with a foot in the cosmic chaos or order field. The older man sighed, feeling the cliche nearly hit him heavily over the head from it all.

There was one critical question left now, the very one that determined their fate. A part of him dreaded asking, but they wouldn’t get anywhere unless it was and he felt it best to get it over.

“What steps do we take to stop them?” He held his breath for the answer.

Yes Dan thought to himself. As I suspected. They are using time to remove a future threat.

Ensign Dan Jones (Scientist)

The Guardian’s answer was swift as if it had been anticipating this particular question. “You must understand the nature of time, you must join those who would protect it. You are close to knowledge that few possess. You are approaching knowledge that could make your saviour or tyrant depending on how you use it. Time Sister chose your ship and it’s inhabitants for a reason. She you call Rxzyth is bound to me because who but the rocks themselves can understand the passage of time?”

There were the sounds of approaching noise coming from the north.

Liam’s lips frowned harder. His eyes closed and lowered his head, his fingers applied pressure to reveal the tension growing there. He made a mental note to contact Roberts after this whole mess was over. It was the prior CO’s fault he was originally assigned to Athena’s rag-tag group in the first place. The CSO let his breaths inhale then exhale. He was trying to recall everything he knew before he tried to piece this whole thing together.

The tablet was made from stone which explained how it survived the ages until the present day and why Counterstrike couldn’t destroy it. It was a perfect transport for information. The one piece of the puzzle that didn’t fix was the name Rxzyth. He didn’t know anyone or ever heard of the name, feeling slight frustration at the lacking piece.

His head lifted from his fingers to glance at Jones for a clue to who Rxzyth was when he heard a sound. Immediately his eyes turned northwards for the answer to the source.
