Captain Koraia found herself back again in the Celestial Temple. The prophets were strangely subdued but there was one familiar grinning face striding towards her. he was tossing a baseball and spinning it as he did so catching it as it descended.

“Happy to be going home Captain,” he said throwing her the ball.

Ghubari caught the ball easily and gave Sisko a lopsided smirk. “You think? I would be entirely happy to go the rest of my life without ever setting foot in another universe, much less the so-called Mirror one. And as intrigued as I was to meet an alter ego of mine, could also do without that ever again too.” She turned the baseball around with her fingers. “In short, I think I need a break from the exceptionally high-stakes missions and as fascinating as this has all been, if our paths cross in this manner again, I might get upset. After all, my crew deserves better to be pawns. As a former Starfleet captain I’m sure you can understand my being at least a little disgruntled.”

He threw back his head and laughed heartily finishing by pointing to his chest “This pawn decided to cash in on all the years of service Captain. I convinced the Prophets that you and your crew would get the job done so if you want to be angry with anyone then be angry with me.” He chuckled again, “Pawns… you undersell yourself Queen of the board. Ask yourself this… when two universes are at stake, who else but you and your crew would you trust to get the job done?” He took a step back and awaited her answer with a broad grin on his face.

She snorted. “I suppose I should take that as a compliment.” Turning the baseball between her fingers, she contemplated it a moment before looking back over at Sisko, once again wondering if anyone would believe her. She tossed the baseball back at the man… Prophet? Person.

Ghubari sighed. “Of course we can do it, or we believe we can. But at what cost?” She shrugged. “The eternal questions of a commanding officer. I suppose it’ll never really get better, but some days I do hopefor a break. Who knows, maybe I’ll take an actual vacation. That would be novel.”

He deftly caught the ball and spun it in his hands plainly showing the name stenciled on it, “Buck Bokai”.

“I took a vacation once,” he said with a small smile, “Damn near got myself killed, be warned”.

She chuckled.

His face turned a bit more serious, “As to the cost you speak of, we better be prepared to pay it because I have to tell you that just because beings like the Prophets exist it doesn’t necessarily track that they’re as wise as they are powerful, I mean take Q, nuff said?”

“I always been ready to pay whatever price was required, and I know my crew is. Could do with a bit of break before the next big thing comes our way though.” She inhaled deeply, looking around.” Ghubari could sense that it was time to go back. As much as she would love to chat more with Sisko, her crew needed her and they needed to get home. “What are the chances we’ll ever cross paths again?”

His dark eyes sparkled, “Pretty high, but not to worry, If we do it’ll be because I’ve wangled a vaction out of the Prophets. I need to get out more and I’m sure they’re getting sick of my “adversarial linear” speaking”.

She couldn’t help but grin. “I look forward to it.”

“Time for you to be on your way. I’d say Prophets guide you but I’m pretty sure you’d see that as a curse rather than a blessing”. He handed her the baseball, “Hold onto this until next we meet”.

She caught the ball easily again, though her brows were lifted in curiosity.

And with that, it all melted away and the last thing Ghubari saw of the celestial temple was Sisko’s broad cheshire grin.

OOC I’ll let you decide how you want to explain the ball in your hand on the bridge :-)

OOC: Oh she will. She thinks she might have lost her mind, but once she has confirmation she’s not, she’ll think of something, lol.

OOC :-) Ian
